The IFMAR World Championship video from Team Trinity that was released after Team Trinity, Team Losi, and Team Novak won the IFMAR 2wd Off-Road world championship in Pomona California. Starring Brian Kinwald, Greg Hodapp, Gabe Boudreau, Brian Dunbar, Scott Brown, Matt Francis, Mark Pavidis, Gil Losi Jr., Masami Hirosaka, Team Losi, TLR, Team Associated.
Brian Kinwald won the 2wd Modified buggy portion of this race with his Team Trinity Powered, Team Losi XX-CR Worlds Edition Buggy, with a Novak Cyclone speed cotrol and Airtronics (Sanwa) 3P Caliber Raido. He edged out Masami and Brian Dunbar in the third leg to take the victory, his second worlds and Team Losi Racing first ever championship!
Brian's team mates, who helped him beat the worlds fastest drivers were Brian Dunbar, Greg Hodapp, Scott Brown and Gabe Boudreau. These five men, were the first to drink the world championship champagne for Team Losi. In a sport focused so much on the individual efforts, these men banded together to help win it all with the power of TEAM. They will forever be remembered in the realm of RC Racers as the "First" ones to take the championship from Masami Hirosaka of Japan and Team Associated and get Pops Losi his much sought after off-road world championship!
Congratulations to Brian Kinwald and Masami Hirosaka for their individual wins and the entire Team Losi racing team and A-Main Finalist who are indeed, IFMAR WORLD CHAMPIONS!

I never thought someone would upload this. I was watching the race from the sidelines that day. I have such fond memories from those times and that place. I'll mis the Ranch Pit Shop. The staff there made it so great to race there. I wonder where they are now.

I have some behind the scenes photos from this race. Sadley the Trinity VHS recorder died several years ago (yes I still have it) and having it repaired was impossible because the parts don't exist for the camera. Something was wrong with it before it died, so all the 8mm HD tapes are running in FF on a normal 8mm Tape Recorder.
Sucks because I have testing for this race and a bunch of cool things we did back then.
**UPDATE The Senna Video Decentegrated...trying to get the other video's to work but the tape is falling apart****
Brian Kinwald was the first driver in the history of RC to win with both 2wd companies (Team Associated in 1993 and Team Losi in 1997).
He might not have the most personal victories at the IFMAR Worlds but he was the FIRST to do that...and no one can take that away, not now, not then, not until the end of time...which is a long time!

yep. kinwald was unstoppable for a while. that little dude was scary fast. I always felt like he was the guy that ushered in the superstar era of drivers like cavaleri tebo maifield etc. ....... sidebar,,,, kinwald slapping pops losis hand at 6:56. rip pops.

You are correct sir. Kinwald was the pioneer for RC to to the SuperStar drivers that you mentioned. The combined winnings of Cavaleri, Tebo, and Maifield from this race to present is well in excess of $4,000,000 alone not including salaries (source: IRS Tax Forms).

I use to go to all the races in socal back them. I remember your name but don't remember what you raced. I raced mostly on road at revelation, Fridays at steve dunn'a race prep, knew Chad Bradley. We swopped buggys once. His car are so stable and easy to drive and he like my short wb chassis XX w/Schumacher front end.

He’s a legend. I remember getting into RC around these years and seeing his image everywhere on magazines and inside Hobby Shack. LOL I fantasized competing. In reality I had no chance against these pros.
saw brian alot in hobby magazine and at that time i had no clue who he were more then someone that won alot of race until years later internet told me why he where so special.

I have the Gene Hustings videos which one of them I'm in. I have the 1989 worlds main as well, which I wasn't in. Just a way to remember the best day in RC Racing for myself...

Man good Ol Bob Novak, I got into a heated email exchange with him years ago right before the collapse of his company. I had purchased 3 ESC's from them and and a few BEC's and pretty much all of them failed within weeks. They use to have great customer service but that went to crap as well to the point the owner is talking $hit to me. All the guys at the track had a great time reading the email exchange 🤣 any ways come to find out they switched up companies that produced their electrical components and went with a dude as all there products had started to fail and when I say all 80% of production was garbage. Sucked to see a company I loved and invested a lot of time and money into go down $hit creek and if Bob is still alive I might owe him an apology for how I talked to him 🤣
