back in the old days when most of these drivers got their name next to a sponsor in a hobby magazine.

I grew up in that town! I was 6 when this took place, wish my mum had taken me to watch this back then lol little me would have loved it!

Frequency hoping occurred many times in this cheating ass sport.

That track looks super rough, more like a 1/8th track. We're spoilt nowadays with AstroTurf. 🤣

More time on the track than in the air! I like the flatter tracks from back in the day. And more dirt and slide than grip.. thats cool. Masami.. so good to watch, just fast enough everywhere.. I wish the footage was HD, see the details of the skills! reminds me of Loeb in rally.. never too fast always the right speed to be perfect! I was there for the 4wd final.. 9 year old kid, never been to a race before, was blown away.. Thanks for uploading

every legend run there,kyosho ultima,assocoated rc10,tamiya avante i think,aand the one og the only 3 nikko pro kit,the super sprinter,it was also the dandy dash and teh brat which was a mix of the two,byt t can not see it in the video. nikko was in the ifmar but i do not know if it was not in the finals....

Those grand stands are pretty much full! Awesome how popular this has been over the decades! Say my first race at local fairgrounds in 1987.

Was there any real suspension setup back then? Shock oils, spring weights, adjustable ride height,etc.?

The year I stopped racing rc. Started again 2017!

I was 11.... and had read about this world from a local rc model magazine!!From the photos I'm impressed by the two trees that were in the track!!!!! After those years I see and the race from a video!!!That is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!Thanks for sharing!

The 2nd leg @ 20:10 is probably the best and most commanding drive I've ever seen in R/C. Masami is last going into turn 1, but goes on to win the race and by the end is only 10 seconds away from lapping 3rd place.

Sweet! I've ran my 1/10th TC up there a few times really good location.
