- Idle Jetting procedure for a cheap Chinese carb. The steps to get it right. Idle mixture adjustment not in range? This particular machine was 2+ turns per jet size.
Keep your original carburetor! It is way to much trouble to use these aftermarket carbs.
Might as well be tuning an engine build for race car. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
BIG BIG HELP! Lost my mind working on a Kawi Prairie 400 with same problem. Thinking about buying a 250ES big red and glad to have watched this
Awesome vid
Shindy makes rebuild kits for honda carbs. they include everything you need for a complete rebuild. awesome video i subscribed.
You mind posting what jet numbers they send you? Might help someone else.
only the oem ones i believe
@@Gizmowerks no my dad knew them the jet number we did it by our big manual
Yo hope you and the big red are still around... mine is over jetted .. if fuel is on it get way to much gas and only shittly runs full throttle .. when i turn fuel off with it running after a few seconds it runs and revs like a champ for a few seconds Then dies.. my cheap carb is different from yours it came with my BR.. so not sure if it matters on that fact but what were the final jet sizes .. i didnt hear ya say.. thanks good video .. maybe update description with jets sizes
where do the top 5/8 hose go for vent. One hose goes from crank case then has a T, lower hose goes down to vent . Top hose goes up behind carburetor then comes out under frame below front part of seat. I can smell gas fumes from it while its running. Does this top hose go somewhere? Fumes are stinking up my garage
Thanks
Do you have the link to the clone carb you have? I’ve bought 2 so far and they are way too big and not the correct fit for my big red.
@bondfranklin, I have a 1985 Big Red with a clone carb. I have the original but having trouble finding it. Can you tell me where you bought your jets?
Nevermind, I just noticed the screenshot in watching the video again.
John N, I could not remember! Glad you found it
Was the intake valve to tight
Hey man, I have a question. If the factory size jet is 38, but you ended up with a 52, what happened? Is there some other issue that made it necessary to change the jet size? Did you also have to change out the main jet too? Ok I had 3 questions.
I think the confusion is this carburetor was not OEM but sold as an incorrect replacement.
Exactly. I'm in the same boat. My bike didn't come with an OEM carb, so I bought a clone. At first it ran way too rich, then I set the needle clip to the 2nd from top position. Now it does just like the bike in the video.
Mine idles way too high when I turn it on in neutral what do I do to stop that?
T Leyba there should be like a sort of tuning knob under the carb, twist it to the left a little to lower the idle
T Leyba there is a black knob on the carburetor turn it maybe half a round counterclockwise keep turning counterclockwise until you have the desired rpms
So you want it idling that fast? When you put it in gear it’s gonna take off and run over some one.
give it a chance to warm up before stab the throttle
Sounds like you need to buy a original carb from Honda and tighten your Air/Fuel set screw 2 1/2 turns out from seated.
