  • Need to get the Big Red working again as it has stopped running after sitting 7 months. I believe it to be the carburetor. Since so many machines built back in the day do not do well with the modern gas and all the ethanol they put in it.
Come along as I learn how to take the carb apart, clean it and reassemble it.
    Thanks for watching!!

Great video, I let mine sit for 1.5 years and need to pull the carb, we have bad gas in Alaska..

Tried rebuilding one of these... put it back in, but cannot seem to get it set properly between the idle speed and mixture valve... idles ok but when I try to put gas on it (rev the engine) quickly it seems to hesitate / bog down... not sure if it is too rich or too lean...

I am not an expert but it sounds like it is to rich. Can always try and lower each setting (idle /mixture) until it just runs and then raise them independently to see if you can dial it in. Good luck!

@@thehandyoutdoorsman9014 yeah - tried that for an hour or two then gave up... will put in a cheap chinese carb for now and rebuild this OEM one again....
