Dale, it's so great to see you're still plugging away. I'm about the same age as you, but I hadn't heard of you being active in quite a while. I stumbled upon your videos after just buying the identical bike. I rode 1st and 2nd Gen V-Max's, built of course by Jon Cornell (we really miss you Jon). I fell in love with the ZX-14R, but I wanted something a little more upright as I get older. Other than a few bolt-ons, I'm going to leave my ECU stock for now, for warranty reasons. I thought seriously about it, and contacted Chris Moore but never heard back from him. I'd love to hear your input on the steering damper, I've seen some videos where they kind of show one is necessary exactly for the reasons you outline. I'd also love to hear your thoughts on the Power Bronze wind screen as far as head buffeting in everyday riding. It's about the best looking tallish screen I've seen.

Hi John, the damper is not a bad idea. I have some clearance issues , but not hard to sort that out. Screen really helps but you still need to tuck in at speed. Cheers Dale

Now that is what I would call a modern widow maker! lol Congrats on the beautiful new bike. I Almost picked up one a couple of years ago myself. A naked H2 was on special at the local dealer here in San Jose but I procrastinated too long, and it was gone by the time I visited the dealer. Oh well, tomorrow is another day. Looking forward to the videos! Good Luck!

Thank you Mario, that was my story a couple years ago, then they just had a sale price on this one. Cheers Dale

A stretched zh2, thing is going to take off like a scalded cat once you get rid of those restrictions in the ecu.

Yep, when we get to that point then it will be, Ok how do we calm this thing down to make it rideable , and will I need to up grade the clutch Fatty. We will get there and I will do it ! I also want to keep the motor safe on 91 octane pump gas, so wont go nuts on huge power numbers. Cheers Dale

Hey Dale! I have the exact same bike, and am wondering if you can guide me in removing the ECU for a reflash? Nobody on CZcams has offered anything up, unfortunately. I thought I heard there was an easier way to do it without pulling the whole front end/headlight off, but maybe not? Would appreciate any help you could possibly offer.....Glad you're feeling better!!!

I'm busy moving my life and shop to another location, so have not got to this yet 2093. I think there is no way getting around taking it apart though. Its not hard, just time. Cheers Dale

Have the same steering damper from Brocks. And the nice tinted screen from Powerbronze. Full Akra system though, but with the "legal" huuuge end-can.
Like you said in the video. Stock and with all the "aids" and restriction (ETV), it is not nice to launch. Pretty bad actually. And the mapping is way to simple programmed in the ECU. Road mode is sort of OK. Sport mode is useless other than for show. It is pretty bad that some testing I did (stock) the first year I had it, there is no difference in 0-60 in Road, Sport or Rain mode. (Rain mode was actually "best" for consistent launches). TC=Off is best for a pro like you.. 😊 Stock the KLCM (Launch control) works OK, but de-restricted it does not work..which is as expected when the full power is unleashed..

Hi TL, I wont lean on it to hard. We have 91 pump gas here and I want the motor to live. I can see making 220 maybe here at 4500 feet, but trust me that will still be enough. I may try Rider mode with TC off this weekend, we will see on that. We wont be getting a lot of runs, since this is the final race at Sacramento drag way and it will be packed. Oh well it is what it is. Thanks Dale
