How dare they blame NHS staff for the waiting list. These same people were clapping for health care workers during covid, some of which died in service of this country, whilst they partied. Disgusting

However paying healthcare staff a decent wage would help with staff retention and cut those waits down.
Standard Tory antics, cut funding too a service, blame them for being less effective "Oh well look its clearly broken and the only option is to sell it to my mates at bagain bucket prices and throw them another tax cut while I'm at it!"

According to what I've read people who own XL Bullies will have to register and neuter their dog, and keep them muzzled and leashed at all times in public spaces. It will also be illegal to buy, sell, give away or breed XL Bully dogs. The aim of this is that the breed dies out as the existing animals reach the end of their natural lifespan. People who don't follow the regulations risk having their dog confiscated and destroyed.
Let's just do that to Tories instead/as well, and in a generation, we'll be rid of THAT problem, too! 🙂👍
More beds and equipment will make no difference if there is a shortness staff which there has been for decades. Retired nursing sister.

I'm listening to this while in A&E in severe pain.. the fact that I had to wait hours to get any intervention isn't the fault of the medics, it's solely down to the Government. In the background I need oxygen therapy- it took 4 months to see a specialist who said, you need urgent oxygen therapy, but there is a 3 month wait before they can start it. Again, I don't blame staff or the hospitals Cuts are the sole cause

My heart weeps at the state of the country and perhaps the world. It feels like certain leaders or people in power abuse their power. And now they don’t seem to pretend anymore. What kind of world are some people want to create.
That's all part of the government's plan, run a service down by lacking investment then sell it off to their rich mate's, it's what they've done with every service that's been privatized

Really appreciate James' open point of view over the dogs. Licencsing is the only way to truly eradicate the issue.
Dog owners of certain breeds should have to do obligatory training courses dog and owner together. Licenses should be issued after the potential owner passes a test/check that they can provide for the dog

@@Howie57I'm old enough to remember when dog licences were a thing. They could be brought back and it could be a condition of owning a dog that you must meet certain criteria, e.g. training, and perhaps not being allowed to own breeds that are unsuited to being around children if you have them.
Don't be silly. Know lots of people on waiting list including me. The tories don't give a damm. they have private care.
The sad fact is that sunak and the tories want the strikes to happen. They have a couple weeks at least to meet and get around the negotiation table, which the tories refuse to attend. And strikes are two days per month roughly. What about the rest of the month when operations are cancelled?
Totally agree and this is why he made the pledge, because he knew full well he would be pushing all NHS staff into industrial action and would then say look it's their fault!

Anyone who’s been in and around a hospital in the last decade knows it’s not the fault of the medical staff
And for those who's GP refuses to see them and the issue gets worse and they end up in A and E
Although there r some nurses now who really shldnt be in the job. They do not have the empathy etc reqd. To me being a nurse, doctor, dentist, mortician etc r vocations and not just jobs. However now, because of lack of people in these jobs nhs and agencies r employing just anyone who really do not have an interest in the work.
I do agree, but I think it’s largely down to becoming disillusioned through overworking and low pay, as well as training being sub standard and an emphasis on the wrong things. Care has gone out the window.

This government, while saying that they are putting funds into the NHS, are actually not putting any funds into NHS treatments, services, and facilities. What they are doing is funding private profiteers.

Missed your show yesterday James and had I known this topic was coming up, I would not have missed this and phoned into your show. To tell you about the experience of the NHS I’ve been having recently, as someone like many others with Neurological progressive diseases they are suffering. Like all the others with different illnesses as your callers have been calling you about!
The only way you will be seen by a Consultant which is not their FAULT! This stems to funding where you will only be seen when another person has died who was in their care!!
How dare that nasty man and party who never have to worry about paying privately it’s easy for them to do! These millionaires and billionaires should not be in the common man’s house! They need removed and that’s why so many now are running away as these are the cowards who ruined the U.K.
Thinking they are going to escape the book on their part of causing death and harm to everyone history will not forget who did what.
Those still not needing any medical help are lucky , please do not destroy your health for any job!
I think there should be a ban on breeding altogether. There are enough dogs to go around. The kennels are bursting at the seams. No need for everyone to be breeding dogs. They are doing it for money with no real thought for the animals.
I take your point but it would just go further underground. I think the best rule is one adopted in Scotland is that all puppies/dogs have to be microchipped by a vet and it is illegal to advertise a dog without one. I don't know if this is the same in the rest of the UK.
@@gwynhyferyes that's the case in Australia. It doesn't stop some people of course but it limits the widespread practice. Also many advertising outlets insist on only registered breeders being allowed to advertise. But there are still plenty of nasty breeders who keep their dogs in bad conditions.
But microchipping helps.
Are your shelters filled with, and overrepresented by Bully related dogs like they are in the US now? If so they need to be fixed, vaxxed, neutered or spayed, and put in a registry with its chip number, so they can be eliminated.

I do not believe that the police are properly led at the moment, and from what I've heard this would seem to be most apparent within the Met', and inner city forces. The police are constantly required to act on their own initiative, but it only takes one individual to go too far, on their own initiative.
My wife has just been diagnosed with gallstones which can be horrendously painful for her, and is also affecting her liver. She has been told it's at least 47 weeks for surgery. Honestly I don't know how the NHS can even be fixed at this point. Just to be clear I don't blame the staff at all, I'm sure they are all trying their hardest to cope with this situation. What can be done to fix it though?
In America 85 million don't have healthcare. And we spend more per capita on healthcare and receive the worst care in the industrialized world. Seems the elite in England see the example across the pond and have gotten some ideas.

Teachers, in my opinion, need training on why children may smell of cannabis. I grew up in a household in which both my parents smoked cannabis, I only found out about this at the age of fifteen but my whole school life, it is possible that I went to school smelling of cannabis, unknowingly. Also, BO sometimes smells like cannabis, so, yeah. Smells like cannabis does not always equal, smokes cannabis. They also need to call parents and allow them to be present when allegations are being made. The teachers involved should be deeply ashamed.

The current bully XL will have to take a temperament test muzzled.anf leashed in public and also spayed and neutered. This is the current process when real pittbull are identified, although if the dog is in a rescue center it will be destroyed as it Will be deemed to unhomable

It was the most gruesome thing I have ever seen, the pain and horror that man was subjected to as he left this world was simply unspeakable. They account for 1% all dogs in the UK, and are responsible for 70% of all death last year. You do the maths.

My GP received £3000 over the last 20 years had i been the annual £150 perhaps i could have see a private GP.
I'm happy for the UK and wish the US would follow your example. On one of the last episodes, the dad who called in talking about Rio, put something in place for me. My sister's pit bull, cool and quiet and obedient, unflappable, had a young girl she'd been around before make a high-pitched eeee and was flailing her arms around strangely. Dog took a running leap through the air and took the girl's hand in her mouth. Statistics don't lie. Saint Bernards aren't shredding people, nor Great Danes. Our shelters are overflowing with pitties - there's nothing else to adopt.

If these dogs are mainly created by inbreeding you can be quite sure that the worst properties of their ancestry are concentrated in the offspring. Not only the dogs should be banned but the breeders should be prosecuted as well. If you are inbreeding animals planned and willingly you act cruel to the animals and face consequences.

Wasn't just the lickdown but the covid patients who took up so much doctor and nursing time. Remember pple falling down everywhere. It was horrendous.

The nhs is so poorly run. It took 3 scans and 6 months for them to see I had broken a bone in my wrist. Firstly they only scanned my hand, (why I do not know )then then only scanned one side of my wrist 🤔 eventually they scanned whole hand/wrist and found it!!! Then I’m told it’s now to late to fix… The doctors have to take accountability for not believing me and being dishonest to me…

I lost a year of my life. Lost power in my right leg. Had 2 xrays and in both, first an incomplete fracture, 2nd a complete fracture and each time the fracture was not identified. The excuse the radiologist was asked to look for osteoarthritis. I am so angry about this. I cannot believe a professional radiologist wld look at an xray and not point out that they had identified a fracture and add there is no osteoarthritis. My mother is 93 and in a care home far from where I stay. I have been unable to see her in her new home etc. All because a person cld not think outside the box/without instruction. Unbelievable.
Well, you have to ban ALL dogs now.

Banning every dog is the only on fair and safe way to ensure attacks don't happen.
I agree we should ban all dogs, with the exception of working dogs like guide dogs or sheepdogs, who actually contribute to the economy, rather than molesting kids like these American ones. How did they get here anyway? Or alternatively you could set a tax on dog owners, and have bad dog owners deported to Rwanda. Lots of options.

Quality so variable in the NHS. Is the answer some form of performance related pay? Need to retain the best staff but also drive up standards
Without more money for equipment etc the moral is low. To do your job well you need the tools to do it, but it's not there.
@@pollytickle8346 I don't think it's always about equipment. I think training needs to be a focus so all medical staff have the basic minimum skills for their role, and more quality control to manage performance.

They need the equipment & resources, they need, pay rises.
The NHS needs investment, the Government just trickles the money into it. They just have the basics, the "management" who no nothing about should be replaced. They get a the money. A poor nurse just gets by.
"Quality variable" in the NHS? Do you visit lots of hospitals then? Also you can't drive up standards with the trickle of money this Government gives to the NHS supposedly on our behalf.
I get the no bad dogs just bad owners argument... but certain breeds are bred for certain dispositions but more importantly level of threat, and XL bullies are so strong they can completely overpower adult men.
Banning certain breeds does not mean people cannot get dogs, theres enough breeds out there to own which arent dangerous when poorly raised, so this only affects people that want violent dogs or those who somehow find these dogs "cute".
So.. yeah, ban them. Sorry to current owners, but this is a serious public threat which will only get worse as criminals and psychopaths buy them in increasing numbers to up their threat level.
@KingofEverything1 I get what you're saying, but it's not a strong point. Knives are weapons, sure, but we have banned public carrying. Meanwhile comparing humans to dogs is very much a false equivilent for huge numbers of reasons.
Meanwhile, the Bully XL is bred for fighting. It was bred for high aggression and high strength. For those reasons the breed also attracts buyers who want a violent and powerful dog, as duch exacerbating the issue.
Not to mention that even with decent owners, a dog of that strength and size cannot be easily restrained even if the intention to harm isn't there.
I appreciate and sympathise with those with an XL and trained it well, but with the biggest interest for them coming from aggressive thugs, this needs to be put into effect for public safety.

Blaming Dogs not the owners...The "Killer" Dog is a byproduct of it's environment. Blame the owners for how they train or treat the poor dog.
It's a specific dog/breed, not all dogs. Pit type breeds make up 75% of all fatalitiy by dog since 2020... actually i think its more now with the death yesterday.

@@Sam_Guevenne Well there's no logic or evidence why bad dog owners would only go and own majoritly the one breed/type of dog.
So if we account for that all dog owners across all breeds are equally bad then the only differential is the breed.
When a pit type dogs have been bred for their body type and charactisitics for fighting dogs its not surprising those pass onto Bully XLs.

I have had dogs for over 30 years and love them, but the quality of a dog is in direct proportion to the amount of effort and care humans put into them, a vital part of which is disciplining the family to take part. The irresponsibility of some owners is infuriating. Large, guarding dogs are dangerous in the hands of bad owners. A cane corso is not for first time owners. As difficult as it is to find anything right about the Tories, the ban is the right thing to do.
What are your thoughts on some kind of halfway house, where people are permitted to own such breeds but only subject to strict regulations?
