  • Meet the new Ford Transit Custom. And as icons go, the Transit is right up there with the greatest.
    Launched in 65, the Transit changed the way vans could and should be. And, over the decades, the Transit has flourished into a family of models which have dominated the van market. Owned and driven by anyone, it really has become what the marketeers named it as - 'Transit - Backbone of Britain'.
    So, with all this heritage, has Ford buckled under the pressure with the new one?
    You'll have to watch to find out, but first, here are some details.
    It's powered by a range of engines - there are diesels, a petrol PHEV and a fully-electric version. There are high roofs, four-wheel-drive ones, buses and there's even a brand new variant called the MultiCab.
    It gets independent rear suspension, some clever new pieces of tech such as 'Delivery Assist', and the interior is as plush as you'll find in a Ford car.
    Watch the video to find out what I think of it.

    Has Ford addressed
    1, the wet belt issues ?
    2, Clogged oil pick up/oil pump issues ?
    3, are Ford undersealing the body’s to prevent surface rust ?
    4, have they improved vehicle security? Transits are well known to be weak in this department ?
    5, ev what warranty do you get with the Battery/ Price to replace battery ?
    6, the towing capacity of the EV & Hybrid are over a ton less than the diesel’s capabilities.
    All valid questions for tradesmen when considering a purchase/investment for there company. This is style second review I’ve watched and neither has touched on the above points. Buyers need a real time, real life review, not a sales pitch.

    I know a lot of people have had issues with the transit custom. I have a 2020 ford transit custom sport panel van, new from a dealer, now done just over 100K not had a single problem, except some surface rust spots, infotainment freezes occasionally (can reset using power + fast forward button press combo). Compared to the Renault Master I had before that was constantly in the garage with electrical problems, not to mention a hole that appeared in the rear floor at 50k. The ford is so effortless and comfortable to work in and these new models look just as good at first look.

    Top marks on an excellent review. As per usual Ford have listened to their customers and come up trumps again. It always amazes me how other vehicle manufacturers take their clients for granted, while Ford actively encourages its customers to help enhance the product. Look forward to driving the latest version of the well deserved best seller.

    My 2019 transit With 40k miles on clock
    Drivers seat bolster material has totally worn away , and split , ya would think I’ve done 300k miles and get in and out van 200 times i day ( but I don’t )
    The steering wheel grip / covering has totally worn away and it’s now super smooth and dull
    The auxiliary batter caught fire when car was 2 years old with 20k miles on clock
    The infortainment system often freezes and after a few days un freezes and starts to work again ,
    Other than them issues , it’s never missed a beat which should’ve expected seen as only 4 years old with 40k miles

      And interior cleaned and hoovered etc ,very regularly
      For a 4 year old work van it's it's very very good condition
      Apart from the very very worn steering wheel and very worn seat bolster
      My car has 50 K miles on and steering wheel is perfect.
      My previous car had 150 K miles and steering wheel was perfect

  • @neilburns8869
    @neilburns8869 Před 6 měsíci

    Ford deserve a lot of credit for continuing to offer a diesel version at this time, especially when like many other makes they will be coming under pressure to go EV.
    But the EVs are not the most practical for business and aren't really selling as well as had been hoped.
    Sunak has obviously pushed the cut-off date back to 2035 for sale of Petrol and Diesel engines.
    If customers aren't really wanting to go EV, and we know that hydrogen fuel cell or/and Hydrogen combustion are in the pipeline then this is a good call.

All lights around of the vehicle fogged up , driver door was well out of body lines that stopping it closing properly, map system is so bad every 30 sec changes your direction to different points like 15mins ( 30 sec later ) 2 hours away etc etc . Dealer doesn't want to take the vehicle back now they want to repair it brand new vehicle 😅 ford quality is not getting any further with this new vans .

      @@nikolaymitev66 wow looks like you got a stinker. You have a 4 week cooling off period where you can cancel the finance. Don’t fall for the dealer stalling you.
      My 20 plate transit is a decent van. The point I was making is , despite all the fancy designer changes, under the skin, there is still inherent build flaws. The sort of issues you shouldn’t have to deal with, in this day and age. This is what lets Ford down. Lots of competition in this sector. When companies are forking out £30k you expect a decent standard.

      whats wet belts

    • @bigeein
      @bigeein Před 6 měsíci

      You have a main timing belt for top & bottom crack & camshaft. Which also drives the fuel pump.
      To reduce the friction and loss of power Ford (in their infinite wisdom) decided to drive the oil pump of a separate belt. Which is rubber. To maintain the belt it is submerged partially in the oil sum.
      Ford spec that the timing belt and wet belt DO NOT need replacing until approximately 130,000 miles or 5 years I believe.
      It has become apparent that the wet belt slowly degrades over time and can fail. When this failure happens the belt strips and deposits into the oil sump. This in turn starves the oil supply to the engine. Seizing the engine. As the wet belt is separate from the main timing belt the engine continues to run on. Damaging the engine further.
      Basically when the wet belt fails, your engine is completely destroyed.
      Ford have done nothing to revise the service intervals for standard and major service times.
      Basically when you start getting towards 85-95 k I’d be looking at replacing the Timming belt and wet belt. Before it costs you a full engine.

Like to have seen a longer ev range plugin with fast charging or like the volt/epowerbut then refinement is something the drivers had less interest paying more for. 35 miles for the plugin wont get you around most low emission cities like london and thats the official vs real world reality.

      I am sure the reviewer was totally AI generated. It's obvious that a real person would not talk or act like this EPR.

    These reviews are pointless! Try a review when it’s 3 years old and just out of warranty. My last ford had so many electrical issues at just after 3 years old not even 2 ford garages could fix it! Cost me a bloody fortune. Never again!

    • @batchreviews
      @batchreviews  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Pointless 😂😂. You’ve watched a review of a brand new van - either don’t watch it or go and watch a review of a three-year old one

    I think ford will be closing down if im honest. Or simply producing small economical cars for developing countries net socialism won't effect.
