Thanks for your great review. I only discovered this film about 2 months ago, but am glad that I did. To me, the film demonstrates that you don't need a big budget to make a great film. Also, I love how the film is specific to the Pine Ridge reservation, but has a lot of universal themes. Having to deal with life events that get in the way of following one's dream definitely spans time and place.
Several years ago, a friend of mine while a resident in medical school told me he had a terrible day: he gave the diagnosis of epilepsy to a fairly young pilot, several years into his career and, in doing so, effectively ending his career and any hopes he could ever have of piloting a plane ever again. To think about how many years of hoping and dreaming, training and practicing that suddenly come to an end would be a terrible thing to experience. I'm sure it would have been terrible to have to give that diagnosis as well.
This movie just came available to Redbox in North America and will be available for at least the next couple of months.
Deepest movie that I’ve seen this year.
You beautifully put into words what makes this film so unique and impressive.
That's very kind of you to say, thank you. Glad you enjoyed the video !
great review, very in-depth
currently watching this film and enjoying it
Amazingly while watching film I felt a tension of someone who is so single focused as if it was a refutation of abundance. As a big city person it was heartbreaking to see someone who only has one goal then loose it. There were several themes in this movie. It was very good.
they used my CZcams vids in the film
the campfire scene is absolutely real. I've sat in on those chats.
Wow that's super cool. Were you there when they shot the scene ?
I was there in real life ole son. Lane is one of my best friends. Check my channel.
thats awesome
I've had a chance to check out your channel. That's great that your videos were used for the making of this film. Being a city person, I never was really exposed to the rodeo culture, but I think this film has given me a much better appreciation for it. I'm glad that Chloe used actual people from Pine Ridge to make this film. I hope she'll make more great films in the future.
I just recently watched The Rider. I loved this movie and this review. Very insightful. You're really receptive to the subtleties and nuance of the movie that make it truly powerful. You know that Brady is the REAL DEAL when you watch him break that horse. He's gifted and so is Chloe Zhao. #subbed

Thank you so much.
Haven't seen the favorite, thunder road or free solo. I have to say I wasn't the biggest fan of annihilation and YWNRH left me pretty cold, but that's a pretty solid list !
Beautiful movie, I have watched it twice!
I just saw the movie and now I'm looking for reviews and comment sections that discuss the end. .. a little confused.
What are your thoughts about how the film "The Rider" ended?
@@kh884488 Kinda like how I felt about the ending of The Sopranos, lol. I loved the movie, but the end left me confused. What happened?
" .... grace, pride and dignity". Yes. But, why no Best Supporting Actor recogntion for a young legend named Lane Scott? Great acting is giving it all you have, right? So, somebody show me how Lane Scott was not being a great actor.
