    According to the original Singer instructions for the 15-91, the recommended way to thread the bobbin case is with the "thread on top drawing from right to left", see page 11 (13 on pdf) and figure 7.

    @MrMyname18 Před 2 lety +1

    I picked this 49 singer up alittle over a year ago for a vintage touch to put my patches on my riding vest. Did a great job til the bobbin ran out. No problems til I have to put the bobbin back in and go though the hole.

    • @MrMyname18
      @MrMyname18 Před 2 lety

      @Lindsey Thompson it did now I can't get it to properly sew without pulling the thread out of the needle every time it goes through fabric

    • @lindseythompson6521
      @lindseythompson6521  Před 2 lety

      @@MrMyname18 is the issue when you first start sewing? If so are you holding your "tails"? Before you begin the first stitch hold the extra top and bobbin threads, keep hold of them for the first ~3 stitches until the threads are locked in. That should prevent pull out.

    • @MrMyname18
      @MrMyname18 Před 2 lety

      @Lindsey Thompson yes I'm aware, It happens a couple in to 10 in its different stitches. It's not pulling the tails through I'm familiar with that, it's cutting the tread off as it comes though the fabric like the thread is too tight but appears loose

    • @lindseythompson6521
      @lindseythompson6521  Před 2 lety +1

      @@MrMyname18 hmm. Well this sounds more complicated there are a few things I'd check
      1. The hook and needle plate for burrs that might be cutting the thread.
      2. Verify that the needle is the correct size for your thread.
      3. You mentioned you were sewing patches. If your using a low quality thread it could be cut from the friction of being pushed through the material

    Hello, Great, well explained video and thanks for sharing with us!! My mom has a similar machine and the rubber wheel that spins the rod to the empty bobbin won’t spin. I replaced the rubber wheel and oiled the assembly ( which was hard to turn ), but is better now. It seems to be making contact, but just doesn’t spin to thread it. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Hi Lindsey! LOVE your videos. I have a 15-90 that I bought used because I learned to sew on my mothers YEARS ago. Mine has a foot pedal which I don't like as much as my mom's which was operated by pressing your knee against a drop-down lever, if that makes sense. I have two questions if you have time and inclination to answer. 1) Do you think it would be possible to replace the foot pedal with a knee one at a repair shop AND 2} Do you know of any mechanical reason why my machine won't fill the bobbin more than about half full? I know I'm doing it correctly and I've tried more than one different bobbin just in case that was the problem. I'm stumped. You're a gem! Thanks so much.
