This Star Wars Film is a Star Wars Fan Film. Set in the Star Wars universe during the Andor and Rogue One timeline, Stormtroopers tells a Star Wars story from other perspectives.

This is absolutely top notch work, it really is (as referred to by @hoiyulau in comments Best Film 2023) congratulations! This is coming from a person who worked As a production designer in theatre, film and television for over 30 years - the detail and subjective design decisions that you have made make this piece of work that you’ve undertaken both individual, Yet so linked to the Star Wars universe.
Also, the story that you have presented, both the uniqueness of it, and yet from a script perspective, again very linked (very very linked) to the Star Wars universe that we all know. Well in love. The “DIRECTION” also stands out as “an almost less is more approach?” - which seriously highlights the clandestine? nature or subject? that you have pursued in the script, story etc. I would have loved to have seen the executed storyboards if you went in that direction prior to production and the shooting.
I SO I look forward to “hopefully” - as the budget of what I’ve just watched, must have been high - having the opportunity to see more of your work online. Thank you so much.

Thank you very much for your support. We put a lot of effort into the detail you critiqued. We prepared with test shoots and some pre-vis edits to work out key elements. We let the natural layouts of key locations make key script and storyboard decisions for us as we only used a green screen for 2 scenes and one of them was a holocall. Every set was a real location as much as possible and we had a really strong VFX talent that gave us that equitable balance between CGI & real effects. Out colour grade guy really helped put a consistency to it and our score guy gave us a full tailor fit feeling. Production Design is VFX too ;-)
@@Stormtroopers thank you for taking the time to reply. The description of your key processes in your reply, shine through in the final product. Having a dedication and passion to a “craft” as well as the subject matter (script), you’ve devised - certainly shows in spades. In all my years as a production designer (and scenic artist) It was not until halfway through my career that I was stumble across 3D animation & VFX, and their ability (if they’re done right?) to the “marrying up” to the environment (location) - you may as well be producing two completely different pieces of visual work, that really don’t relate to each other. Production design, as you have mentioned, YES, is VFX too.

Love this so much. Especially with the Imperial Officer and her family moment. Like come on Disney, these people are STILL humans at the end of the day. They have emotions too despite many in high command having soullessness

@@Orsikmorsik - good spot. It's an under-resourced Communications Outpost with limited assets. It didn't have anti-aircraft guns only a skeleton hanger of an AT-AT, 2 TIE Fighters (1 on patrol; 1 in hanger on repair); 1 TIE Bomber/Transport); We wanted to show our POV where much of the Imperial territory was held with minimum assets and majority conscripts.
The Dave Cullen show told me to check this out, did not disappoint! Outstanding!

Am going to say I watched the first one yesterday and now this one today.. I would like to comment on them even though I am only under 4 mins into this one...Is refreshing to see something a bit darker and less comical. Especially with Stormtroopers... People tend to forget because of the other movies that Stormtroopers are not idiots and fools.. The Empire did not get as big as it did from the buffoonery presented in the movies.. The formation and the continuation of the Empire should have always been a dark and foreboding item... The fact you brought what should have been in the original movies is a welcome change and very refreshing...The Empire was cruel and ruthless and foreboding.. They were harsh and relentless... that is why a rebellion was born...It was an age of darkness and cruelty... Or could it have been an age of enlightenment? Love the alternate POV of this universe presented here. Great work !!!!!!!

Well, this is definitely the best Star Wars fan film I’ve seen. What stands out is that it has its own distinctive visual style and language - and looks very different from the standard Star Wars films. Bravo for that! This is a grungy, claustrophobic Star Wars universe - I like it! Some great shot choices and unusual pacing: works really well.

Hi. This episode is a follow up to another episode. Happy to explain any details it you have a specific question.
In essence - We are viewing the SW universe from a Stormtroopers POV. What if the Stormtroopers were conscripts, what if Stormtroopers were trying to provide for their families with military wages. What if behind every disposable Stormtrooper death in popular SW culture was a human being without Plot Armour, a human being who doesn't get to choose what side they are on, a human being whose loss has consequences for other humans like family & friends.

2:28 As cool as a habitable moon's view of its parent gas giant would look, we already know that from Titan, you wouldn't see a giant looming Saturn and its rings because you would be in the same gravitational orbit, edge-on to the rings.
All good. We just went with wanting it to look cool. Our moon us round so our POV could be at any angle to the parent planet.

Thank you. It was 100% underwater filmed too. We used the Aqua Lung Rogue BCD, Fins & US Divers Mask with an added Scout shaped cowl. We used one of our very durable RS Prop Masters TK kits as the base armour. Proud of this stunt filming and cool to get feedback on it.

Merci. J'ai fait cette cascade en me filmant. C'était très intimidant, mais j'ai fait une plongée de reconnaissance une semaine plus tôt sur le site de plongée avant de plonger devant la caméra dans une combinaison Stormtrooper adaptée. Je pense que la meilleure science-fiction est un mélange d'effets pratiques et de VFX dans un équilibre les uns avec les autres soutenant une histoire mais ne submergeant pas l'histoire.

Same for the TIE Pilot design. In the show we see regular-armoured TK's pilot the V-wings, not even specialized pilots in distinct uniforms! Must be very busy times for the deseigners in charge of crafting the final designs!
If you saw my comment prior to this you'll understand my reasoning even better.
100% - in an expansive military, it would be a very in-inefficient overhead to keep everyone supplied with the latest coolie cutter uniform kit. We imagined human & asset resources are integrated per the situation scope to make the best use in an under supplied and distant outpost. Hence the limited TIEs are retro fitted with missiles repurposed from the expired depot stocks & TIE Bombers also serve as Casualty Evac Transports. Thanks for your feedback
@@Stormtroopers I meant in the context of the early months of Imperial rule, late 19BBY to early 18 BBY, by that point the supply and distribution chain should be up to the task to begin the translation process i would immagine.

..like in the good old days when stormtroopers idled around while beeing attacked and major imperial ordnance had no defence measures at all and counter-strikes were a taboo to the imperial command. but still solid piece of work..
You're right. Kind of par for the course per most SW plot armour. However our vision of many Imperial Outposts is under resourced and undermanned and as per most wars, the majority of time is just waiting. We thought by only showing the bare minimum of TIE Fighters (1 on patrol and hanger turnaround; 1 on intercept and only 1 AT-AT would demonstrate the resource constraints). The previous episode showed a pro-active mine raid. Thanks for your support.
all in all, great work. always touching to see, that there is still a community out there embracing the whole complex far beyond common fan-dom. considering all the work, man-power and financial effort required for such a project i almost feel guilty for watching it for free. keep it up guys.. and as cheesy as it is but still: May the Force be with you!@@Stormtroopers

One advice, that central large area at the rear of the T.I.E. fighter ball is a aft window, not an engine. the engines are small and on either side of that window. Otherwise very enjoyable fan work
