"If the US goverment is serious, it can take those proposals straight to the UN security council. It can vote with a unanimous vote 15 to nothing of the UN security council for the recognition of a Palestinian state that includes Gaza and the West Bank, that includes the demilitaralization, demobilisation of Hamas, it can win the support of Arab countries that have called for exactly that. It would win the support of the world community. So, if the US follow that logic, this war could end immediately. The chapter seven of the UN charter gives the UN security council the power to implement actions to preserve the Global Peace. This is what the US should do." - Prof. Jeffrey Sachs.
To be fair , you need to interview an IDF Officer who has actual information , all this soldier is talking about is what he experienced it does not go to show of the mentality or the specifics , i served in the Military (Not the IDF) and i was not aware of the actual targets we attacked using drones and artillery , i was only aware of specific targets we engaged
So his claim about bombing buildings in order for ground troops to feel safe is at best unsubstantiated, as proof , even today , the Israelis can simply destroy ANY building that is still standing but they don't . this at least from an outside perspective give you an understanding that they are targeting something specifc

What a brave, honourable and respectful human being Ariel is. I feel for what he has experienced and seen, and can't imagine the sadness and inner struggle he must have to stand up for peace and speaking out.
I was in the Army, infantry in the US war against the people of Viet Nam. His stories resonate deeply with me. I’ve spoken with many vets, my age and younger, most would agree. War and violence are the tools of those in power. We, the ordinary people, on both sides suffer.

Has HAMAS attacked any other nation other than Israel? The concept of resistance is strange to the Western World. They have historically labelled every resistance movement as terrorists; from Mau Mau in Kenya to uMkhonto We Sizwe and Nelson Mandela in South Africa. What he said about dehumanization is unfortunately a tactic used across the world. In Pakistan, I grew up hearing about the oppression of Kashmiri people by India. I felt so helpless and angry at the world for being silent spectators. As I grew up, I started became aware of similar horrific acts of violence my own army was committing in balochistan. I have to say, it’s very hard to see it all when you live inside a bubble and only listen to mainstream media. When the bubble finally breaks, it’s both heartbreaking and eye opening. It’s also very hard to engage reasonably with those who still live inside the bubble of lies.

I find a soldier being unaware of the international laws of war to be in very troubling, no wonder atrocities are committed, both ordered and individually.
It's not easy or cheap to create any army with just law students, have you been studying international law's yourself!?

I can understand your feeling but the opposite is true - There is nothing that keeps peace away more than that
I doubt it, this just lets us into the minds of those who are perpetrating the inhumane war crimes and allows us to better understand how the IOF conducts military operations. Those who are on the receiving end of the war crimes however will do everything they can to take arms against their occupiers because they have nothing else to live for but liberate their people and that will only strengthen Hamas further. Peace cannot be achieved without justice either militarily or diplomatically.

Unfortunately this decent person probably represents a small minority in Israel. However, I think he underplays the extent of this genocide as the population is not just being bombed and physically attacked. It is also being starved, deprived of water and denied medicines and medical assistance. It’s happening because Israeli society has been conditioned over many decades to have no shame for its actions or compassion for its victims.
Underplayed is an understatement. He also provided a justification of forced dehumanization for what these criminals are doing. They know the Palestinians are humans, they just don't gaf.

I am an american who's heart breaks in hearing this. I've been crying this entire video. We all want our families, our children, to be able to live with hopes and peace. I really think Governments get in the way of this. I love all people and always will.

Otherwise, you end up with the Israeli population, living an hour away from Palestinians and never having actually met one. Lies are bred from that. Skin color is practically irrelevant here. Humanism is one of the saving graces of the West. I just don't know how can we can justify, refuse to condemn and, worse, directly support these atrocities.
In the 1970s Israeli PM secretly met Mustafa Barzani and stated its to support for PDK (Patri Dimukrati Kurdstan). The Israelis trained some PDK members on how to place explosives on vehicles, place mines, conduct assassination attacks...etc. This is all documented by either side, My father had a book about this with evidence and pictures of many of the members being literally introduced to and trained on what's considered today as TERRORISIM because the Israelis wanted to spread as much as destabilisation in Iraq as possible.

People on Gaza are oppressed by their own "Government". Hamas made their life hell and gives Israel no option but to defend themselves.

When Adriel described how dehumanization becomes convenient when doing wrong it clicked in my brain. Its not just in Gaza & Israel but a global issue.

Well-spoken and introspective man who provides perspective from multiple sides - the Israeli citizen, the Israeli leadership, the Palestinians in the West Bank, the Palestinians in Gaza and the international community.
I'm thankful for Mr Ariel for shedding some light on a matter that has been severely neglected and, more often than not, deliberately overlooked.
I'm a firm believer that people can become friends with whoever as long as they're not facing the barrel of a weapon when conversing and Mr Ariel solidified my stance on his matter.
I pray that, once their pains have healed, made peace with their traumas and properly bid their lost ones farewell, the Palestinians will have their chance for a proper, fruitful and meaningful life that they undeniably deserve.

not really. what we see today is at minimum a campaign to depopulate gaza. and this guy full on denied that there is any targeting of civilians at all, he claimed that it's all collateral damage. he's actually quite remarkably ignorant of the situation in gaza, it seems like he's still in a very israeli information bubble.

I went on to watch other videos of Ariel Bernstein which includes one video in which he pays tribute to a Palestinian friend ( Khalil abu Yahia) that he knew in Gaza. Khalil abu Yahia was killed, alongside his wife and two daughters, in an airstrike whilst sheltering from the bombing in October. He was only 28 years old. They never met each other (only via Zoom). The tragedy was that they had hoped to have a coffee together one day, and now they never will. They saw the humanity in each other and spoke of co-existence.

As a U.S. combat veteran its crazy to hear him say that he doesn't even know what the international laws of war are. In the U.S. military we were required to do annual general military training on the Geneva Convention and the rules of war that prohibit war crimes, collective punishment and the targeting of civilian populations. Maybe remaining willfully ignorant of the laws of war helps ease the cognitive dissonance of being involved in such actions, but his body language (crossed arms) suggests that he is on the defensive when asked about his involvement.
