    $10K for a 5K battery and inverter seems more than a little pricy.
    A DIY unit with equivalent features can be made for $2500-3000 including a dolly to carry it around.
    The compact size and self heating adds value.
    5K solar input is nice too, but can it charge the battery in 1 hour?
    Can the battery take a 1C charge? This is unbelievable.

    An unloaded saw is a weak example of an inverter's surge capacity. Try a motor that's under load at startup like a water pump with a standing column of water or a motor with a flywheel attached. Locked rotor amps is the true test of an inverter's capability, not that old air compressor.

    Interesting tool, and a great overall review. But I gotta wonder how these are called a "generator"? They don't generate anything, they store power and distribute it in ingenious ways.

    • @kg4gav
      @kg4gav Před 7 měsíci

      How is anything called a generator? Gas 'generators' just use a liquid fuel non rechargeable battery. These could be considered multi fuel since they can charge from solar, car alternator (gas or diesel fuel) or household power, which is also multi-fuel Natural gas, coal, wind, solar, hydro or a blend of all those.

    • @corey6393
      @corey6393 Před 7 měsíci +2

      @@kg4gav A gasoline generator "generates" electricity by spinning a coil of wire through some magnets. It does not store electricity, only generates it. A battery only stores energy to be delivered later. That energy is generated through another source.

    • @kg4gav
      @kg4gav Před 7 měsíci

      @@corey6393 These are called Solar generators because they generate electricity from light, which can be used directly or to be stored in batteries. The battery is only one part of the device. Like I said, gasoline is a kind of battery, it is a way to make energy portable and able to be stored for when it is needed.
      At the end of the day, energy is never generated, it is just converted from one form to another, or stored for conversion later and these word games are just used to created internet arguments.

    • @corey6393
      @corey6393 Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@kg4gav Is there a solar panel on this unit? Pretty sure it's just a battery pack with clever delivery systems for the end user of the stored energy. It can be recharged many different ways as I understand it.
      I get your point about how energy is only stored and converted, but it does seem like calling this a generator is akin to calling almond milk, "milk". Or processed soybeans "burger". They just aren't, they are clearly marketing terms.

    • @HybridPowerSolutions
      @HybridPowerSolutions Před 6 měsíci +2

      @@corey6393 the great debate! We tend to call them power packs.

    There are not "generators" any more than a gallon of gas is an engine.

      Sun + this box = electricity / or your gallon of gas + an engine = electricity

      @@SilverCymbal The device under review is not a generator, it's a storage battery. A gas can stores energy but it does not create the gasoline. Explain how this battery *creates* electricity that did not come from another source.

    They look like a DIY solar generator. They would sell 20x more pricing these in a sane manner. The CEO has great vision/ideas but too greedy an ego. Shame

    Ruggid and durable and a glass LCD screen with a fiddly rotary dial doesn't really go hand in hand

    • @SilverCymbal
      @SilverCymbal  Před 7 měsíci +1

      True, but the knob is only for monitoring, you only need the power button for off or on. The manufacturer might add info later but the dial isn't typical, it feels like it weighs a pound in itself.

      @nils1953 - I hear you, but this isn't your standard display. It's an industrial grade display and doesn't use glass.

    this is a big warning, don't plug your phone or similarly sensitive device into a generator that has heavy constriction equipment. even something like an ecoflow won't put out perfect sine waves when you're using it like that.

    It's not a solar generator it's a battery that inverts or converts DC current to AC current you're being lied to it's not a solar generator they'll tell you that but you can recharge it with a solar cell big deal I can recharge the battery for my flashlight with a solar panel you're being lied to folks
