    Benelli's most popular gun is the M2. However, still have a bias towards the Benelli M4 but as I shot the Benelli M2 more, it starts to chip away at my Benelli M4 bias.

    People normally relegate the M2 to competition use, but the 18.5" M2 makes an outstanding fighting shotgun. Its in the top tier for reliability while being less complex and cleaner than any of the competition. The inertia system is Benelli's true flagship autoloading design, and it works really, really well.

      I agree man!!! I myself own a Benelli M2 that already comes with a 7+1 capacity right out of the box, so that right there saves me the trouble from upgrading the magazine tube to a full 7-rounds. I'm hoping to take a few shotgun courses at the range that I go to, just to see how smooth the shooting is.

      Benellis inertia system is just recoil Operated dude. Stop falling for the marketing scheme. I own one. Yes it’s great, however it’s just recoil operated. Inertia system is just a name Benelli used to sell shotguns to low iq buyers so they can go on CZcams and say Colion Noir told me it’s inertia driven and it’s the best. Lol. It’s recoil operated dude.

    I've got an M2 Tactical (pistol grip version) that I've had for years. I bought it because the M4 was about $500 more. The M2 is fantastic and can be upgraded with products from GG&G, such as an enlarged tactical charging handle, enhanced bolt release pad, optics mount/shell holder, extended magazine, etc. Maybe one day Colion will do a side by side comparison of the M4 and M2 Tactical, as well as the accessories that are available. Once you realize that the M2 can be upgraded and modded inexpensively, it becomes a viable (and affordable) alternative to the M4. My only real disappointment in the M2 is the unavailability of a breaching choke.

    • @nominalvelocity
      @nominalvelocity Před 2 lety +5

      Really old first gen m2s use Beretta mobil chokes, newer ones use Benelli crio chokes, you might have to take your choke out and confirm what you have.
      Pretty sure Carlsons currently makes breachers for both setups for 50-60 US buckaroos.

    I love a Benelli shotgun as I own 3 that have MSRPs above 2K. I didn’t pay that as the street price usually knocks it down about 2-300. But I have to give the parent company some props too! Beretta’s 1301 Tactical is an amazing shotgun as well. I had the option of getting an M2 Tactical or a 1301 Tactical and I chose the 1301. I was able to find an actual LE version with the real 7 round mag tube. Didn’t have to convert it like I did my M4. Only 1 downside with this particular version is the LE model didn’t have a choke barrel. It’s strictly a cylinder barrel. But that’s not really an issue. The gun shoots fantastic! Beretta says it’s the fastest cycling shotgun out there now. I won’t question that. I cannot outrun it like I have other shotguns. I’ll still probably get an M2 as I seem to see them everywhere. But this was only the 2nd 1301 I’ve found in a store in a year. Didn’t get the first one I saw as I was purchasing the M4 that day. So don’t do any research on the 1301 or you’ll end up getting one like I did! 🤣. Thanks for this video!

      IMO an over/under is better than any of those. They’re way shorter because there’s no action, the barrel is way longer for their size, they’re light af, and at the range or on a bird hunt, two 3 or 3.5 inch 12 gauge shots is plenty.

  • @Paelorian
    @Paelorian Před 2 lety +35

    Doesn't have the same coolness factor as the M4 or Beretta 1301, but the M2 has a big advantage in being available in 20 gauge as well as 12 gauge. It's probably the best 20g semi-auto shotgun on the market. And while 20g isn't as versatile as 12g, it can do most things adequately. Including self-defense. The right 20g buckshot loads are a fine alternative to 12g for home defense, as they've got close-range stopping power similar to (if slightly less than) 12g. Slightly less potency than 12g is still more potent than anything else, including common rifle rounds.

    • @grimeye1
      @grimeye1 Před 2 lety

      Idk about best 20g the beretta a300 is really smooth and has the blink system for really fast sky busting

      I don’t know what you’re talking about I think they’re way cooler. That’s why John Wick uses it.

    • @Paelorian
      @Paelorian Před 2 lety +1

      @@grimeye1 Oh, I'm not as familiar with the sporting (hunting/target) models. I forgot that they came in 20g. Also 28g, I now see. If the A300 is comparable to the A400, which is the 1301 in a different configuration, then I think the Beretta could be better because I prefer the 1301 to the M2. I like the Blink recoil system. The heart of the gun is better. But I wouldn't use it or recommend it as a fighting shotgun without extensive and expensive modifications.
      The A300, A350, and A400 all have long 26-32" barrels and short magazine tubes. You'd have to do a lot of modifications to get one sporting models set up in a fighting configuration like the Benellis and the 1301. 18" barrel, full-length magazine tube, optics mount, etc. The A350 and A400 also have 3.5" chambers. Since very few people use 3.5" shells for defense or combat, that's just additional weight and length.
      The sporting models do have some nice features of their own, though. Factory camouflage options, recoil-absorbing stocks, and larger controls that are helpful for gloved use. People love the Magpul stocks, but the Kickoff recoil absorbing system in the A400 stocks sounds more appealing than stocks without it.
      But I don't want to fumble around the house with a very long sporting barrel when I'm defending my life. So out of the box, the M2 is probably better. If you cut down the barrel and extend the magazine tube (at minimum), the sporting models could compete favorably. They're also available in 10, 12, 20, and 28 gauges. If someone was to combine the best features of both the sporting/hunting/target and defensive/tactical/fighting models, it might be the best fighting shotgun there is, even giving the Langdon 1301 everybody loves as a combat shotgun a run for it's money. If lacks the recoil-absorbing stock and enlarged controls from the sporting models, which seem useful. But it's much better set up as a fighting shotgun than any of the sporting models.
      It would be a lot easier if Beretta and Benelli offered the combat shotgun configurations in different gauges, as they offer the sporting models in different gauges. The sporting models are pretty awkward to use for home defense. They're great for their intended sporting uses, though! I'm more of a defensive shotgun guy, and I'm inclined to hunt and target shoot with the same shotgun I have set up for self-defense. I think it's good to build that familiarity and mastery. Perhaps someday I'll buy a shotgun configured exclusively for recreational use, but I'm not ready yet.

Had debated between getting the M4 or the M2, and while I think the M4 is an outstanding gun...probably the best home defense/combat shotty out there to date, I found it a tad too heavy and unwieldy for me. The only complaint I have with my M2 is the difficulty in loading the magazine tube. Unlike my supernova, where loading is effortless, I found it takes a lot of effort to push the shells into the magazine tube, frequently pinching my thumb at the portal as I apply force to get the shell in....any suggestions on fixing that?

    I would like to request if at all possible and if you can find one, a review of the thunder ranch edition of the Mossberg 930. Since you seem to be doing the Benelli M series, I would be interested in seeing your opinion on opposition semi-auto shotgun

    Been a fan of ya. I’m 2A with u, but I’m disappointed that you haven’t spoken on 2A contradictions regarding our community that’s not right, ex. someone from our community waking up getting shot dead by forces but he’s being blamed since he slept with a gun next to him.

    I've always wanted a Benelli shotgun, but I went with the Mossberg 930 tactical and I can't say that I regret my decision, so much so I bought two.

      Mossberg and a rem 870 hard to beat benelli beretta makes fine shotguns as well. I've actually fallen for the CZ shotguns function and price I likem all tho lol

      The 930 is a heavy beast in the hands compared to the M2 or M4. Runs filthy too. Have owned all three. The 930 is a good gun, but of the three it's by far the least reliable. The 930's saving grace is that Mossberg customer service is fantastic...never heard any other manufacturer rep say "oh, that part breaks all the time, I'll send two."😁
