    These cars are pretty easy to fix as with most Toyota’s. Only issue is the damn last years model 06-07 has the damn transmission dip stick removed which Toyota really dropped the ball on that as it’s not easy changing the transmission oil. Also one grip is these cars suspension is a little stiff to my liking even though I have the air bags in the back. Essentially it is a truck but wished it was a little bit more soft on the bumps

    Will watch video after this to see if it will help me figure out some of the issues my 06 SR5 sequoia has.
    Ist of all I'll say it runs great and has 207,000 miles on it but the instrument panel is lit up like a Christmas tree. I think they're 5 warning lights and one of them flashes all the time. If that wasn't enough 2 weeks ago the alarm started going crazy. It goes off randomly, driving down the road the door locks sometimes will start locking and unlocking repeatedly extremely fast.
    But hey it still runs great!

    I have an '01 Sequoia. The yaw rate sensor was an easy fix. Expensive part. It is under the console but directly below the cup holders for the rear passengers. Symptoms are the ABS/traction lights flashing, beeping sound, ABS brakes pumping, engine power reduces. Kind of scares the bejesus out of you the first time. It's a tough code to locate because it has to be happening to show the code. The recall is no longer active so you'll have to buy the part. Prepare for $300+.

One, my car when on the highway gives me this subtle vibration as i am traveling at highway speeds, but on the town roads where i am from there is no issue. the other issue i have is where my battery gauge is reaching the bottom quarter of the meter when in park but when driving it shows a normal reading.

    Rear hatch and ball joint issues really love these first generation Sequoias. My great aunt had a Sequoia she bought it before Hurricane Katrina 🌀 now recently got a 2020 Highlander the Sequoia finally bit the dust she been wanted to get rid of it for another car. It was still in good shape just had few scratches around it think these run a long time.

    I have a 2005 Sequoia. CA vehicle. I purchased it in Chicago. Was built in Indiana where I live. Not one speck of rust. Problem is that if I brake fast the transmission goes to almost neutral and when I accelerate it will slam into gear like getting hit in rear. Toyota says it shows a shift solenoid issue. If I drive it responsibly I have no trouble with shifting, just if I stop fast. Toyota will probably want a replacement. They are always trying to get me. What do you think?

  • @andybub45
    @andybub45 Před 7 měsíci

    Another problem with these is the air injection system. The pump fails and sends debris into the air valves. They are a pain to replace on these, the intake manifold has to come off and the 2 rear valves are right up against the firewall. Also change the starter if you’re in there so you don’t have to do it twice.

    The C1223/C1247 codes aren't necessarily the Yaw sensor. Mine was the translate computer that enables the PCM to communicate with the ABS module. A used unit and 7 minutes labor fixed it. There are literally dozens of things that can turn the VSC/TRAC lights on.

    Great reliable vehicles as are most toyotas, BUT , if considering one, most definitely check the frame for rust issues. They go bad just like the Tacomas. This should have been mentioned as #1 priority. If the frame is gone, all the other issues are irrelevant.

    2001 Sequoia - Died while driving... would start but then die... then eventually would not start at all. would crank but no start... Was NOT fuses, fuel pump, relays, anti theft, ECU, or fuel filter... Turned out that the wires to the crank sensor were damaged by the serpentine belt! repaired the wires and BINGO it runs!

    My 2003 has 240k miles but I’ve only had it the last 3 years. It desperately needs new shocks. Rear brakes, alternator, battery, and new tires. Not bad for a short term backup vehicle but I’m thinking of keeping and putting some time and effort into it. Passenger side window is out of the tract, antenna broke off, drivers side door handle doesn’t work, and the infamous tailgate mechanism was replaced with the steel cable most people use. But that doesn’t work now either. All that on a 20 year old vehicle is no big deal considering it’s got a lot of life left in it . I see these car payments people will pay and I can’t imagine. $1500/month?? Never 👎
