    So the HP on the 05 vs 06/07, I read somewhere that there was no change to he power but the reason the specs show less power is because there were regulatory changed in how horse power was measured.

    Got some pretty good information on the Sequoia there! I've dealt with the handle. Completely disconnected the cable, that goes to the handle. I installed the very popular latch for the Sequoia instead. It also failed on me and the back hatch was locked shut I had to go back and remove the plastic from inside to open it from the inside. It was a complete nightmare then I took lock back off and ground down where it catches with a grinder and it hasn't failed since it's pretty foolproof now. It's still locks and unlocks.

    The ball joints on my 2003 were replaced due to the recall in 2005, probably along with the frame as it is in good condition. The vehicle spent it's life traversing winter roads and a 15km logging road repeatedly. It was being used to transport the public so it was inspected every season. From my records the same ball joints from 2005 are still on the vehicle and would have been replaced if they had gone bad.

    I had a timing belt issue on my 2005 a few years ago after towing a camper

    Looking into one now. I know it doesn't have great towing capabilities, but my camper only weighs 3500 and i don't wanna stress out my Tacoma any longer in the hills (plus I'm not replacing it anyways lol). This was a great insight into what I'll deal with. Nice thing is in my area, I'm finding them under 10k with higher mileage - my 06 Tacoma has 245k so not concerned at all. Thanx for the info

    My original owner 2001 had a timing belt break at freeway speed and I had no damage to the engine. I'll disagree with your statement that this is an interference engine. It didn't do any damage to the valves or cylinders...and you'll see many stories on the internet that had my same experience.

    • @AutoMotivate
      @AutoMotivate  Před 2 lety +4

      It is built as an interference engine, but not all conditions cause issues. So, you are right but you can not claim it is a non-interference.

      @@AutoMotivate you are wrong. ‘01-04 are non interference.

      the VVTI 4.7L is interference. Your 2001 is also a 4.7L but not a VVTI.

      @@Baebon6259 Yep, however, when you call a Toyota dealership they tell you that all 4.7's are interference......which we know is not true.

    the hp is the same from the 05-07. toyota had to comply with how the hp was calculate with a new method that's y on the specs, the 06-07 the hp went from 282-272. the same with the highlander, 2000-2003 the higlander specs is 220hp. the 2004 the specs is 230hp with a sliightly bigger 3.3L engine vs the 3.0L from 2000-2003, go to 2005-2007 with the new hp calculationg the specs is 215hp. it's just how hp is calculated from 2005 and up but the engine ,ecu , trans are the same as for 04.
