Phife snapped too -- "It's 1991 and I refuse to come wack".. one of my all time fav lines 😇
NewWorldWar Can't ever forget Phife. He always had a good verse
i dont really mind if its over ya head cuz the job of resserecter is to wake up the dead so pay attention its not hard to decipher. and after the horn you can check out the phifer QTIP from we got the jazz

One of the greatest albums ever recorded. No one has ever topped the chemistry between Phife and Q-Tip on this album.
Absolutely agree. The chemistry between Mos Def and Talib Kweli is phenomenal as well

Love movement is the weakest of the albums yet still a masterpiece of an album
Bro have u heard the cut song?
@@chilldood8211 Actually I personally think Beats Rhymes and Life is their lowest. Always loved the twinkly, sparkly sound of Love Movement. It's so overwhelmingly 1998, and that's the best part!

Absolutely. Don't care if their style isn't super complex, this album is my all time favorite.
LifeGiven yessir, this and Midnight Marauders share a spot
idkman ok, Im stuck between this and Madvillainy for my top 10.. Would you put Madvillainy over this? Or Midnight Marauders?
LifeGiven goddamn, great taste lol. I'd personally put Madvillainy slightly above MM and LET but it's very close. Really up to you though, all fantastic album that deserve a spot in anyone's list.
idkman Madvillainy is just so unique AF and has next level sampling when it comes to beats.. Its always been Low End Theory but the more I listen to Madvillainy it looks like LET will have to give up its spot..
This album is very dope and impactful but I find Midnight Marauders their best work IMO.
MMidnight marauders is one of the greatest albums of any genre imo

I prefer the low end theory but its close
I agree
Same here. I love Low End theory, but Midnight Marauders is one of my top 3 hip hop albums of all time
love the adjective use of "chocolate-y" really fitting word for ATCQ
I swear to fucking God, if you show your fucking racist face here again, I will report you.
Piero Scaruffi 5 years later have your opinions changed on this man?
Times were so innocent 5 years ago
Not necessarily racist it really does fit for this album and the music they make. It’s very soft but still very firm and very sweet, warm, and appealing. It just works. Regardless of the creators skin color
Chocolate-y is a very apt description of the feeling I get from low end theory

Tom Booker I'll have to check it out considering I only really seem to like "chill" hip hop. 99% of hip hop to me is a nice beat with a smug doofus being a complete tit over it while not even being in time and probably destroying the mood. i listened to this album straight through for the first time a few days ago after just hearing singles like jazz and buggin out and i gotta say that this album just hypnotically sexy. like im almost in shock that there couldve been a piece of art so good that i went so long without hearing, it makes me excited to look into the past and find more great music. played the album for one of my friends while we were smoking and he thought the same song was on for like 25 minutes hahaha
thats so refreshing to hear that people take the tome to dig into the past where most dont pay homage to real hiphop
Keep the classic reviews coming! I like them. Although this album has been in my top 3 for a long time now, I still like to see these video's with your vision on it.
QTipthony Phifetano
I remember finding this album years ago and thinking it was really underground because none of my hip-hop friends at the time never knew of ATCQ

Happy 30th Anniversary to this masterpiece
One of the best albums I’ve ever heard. It’s so tonally consistent, Q Tip and Phife have terrific chemistry and the production feels so mellow. Please do Midnight Marauders
Hey man, I know you get some hate sometimes, but I really appreciate your videos. It's really cool that you put this kind of effort and time into what you do. I would love to do something similar, analyzing music is very entertaining. So thanks for doing what you're doing, and keep doing it! Thanks.
I use to always come home from junior high school and bump this album, one of the best rap albums ever , I still bump this album and the great thing is just the other day my nine year old cousin asked for the scenario track on his iPod because its in the nba2k15 game and he loves busta rhymes part. ..lol . classic material right here

"What?" is such a dope track. I'm still lobbying for a colored vinyl ATCQ boxed set!
this review's been suggested to me for years, or has come up when searching for "georgie porgie", i only now decided to watch it
good insight, good review, a lot of people do reviews nowadays but do it for the niche and get a lot of info wrong, bonus to you for actually mentioning the background to "show business" and georgie porgie
One of the (if not THE) best album ever. Can't even count how many times I've listened to it, over the years.
One of my favorite albums. I can put on any song or just play the whole record through.

YES! Finally! I have waited for ages to hear your thoughts 😁
16 April 2022
I've been listening to People's Instinctive Travels and the paths of rhythym for 2 years now, because I wanted to really grasp the tribe sound and understand the native tongues. I took my time with that album and really enjoyed it. I listened to The Low End Theory today and now I can't stop playing it! The jazz influence really turned up a notch and they took a different turn to really reel you in. From the lyrics, the rhyme scheme, the beats, jazz , bass and the overall feel is fantastic. It's like Tip knew that the beats gotta be better and phife knew he needed to come in spittin.
This album, The Low End Theory is iconic, plus we hear Busta Rhymes's humble begginings and hear the earliest lyrics of him refrencing dungeon dragons that nicki minaj borrowed for romans revenge ft eminem AND lyrics which were also used in his 2002 song 'As I come back' produced by The Neptunes. Maybe skateboard told busta to bring it back since he is a stan of Q-tip and Tribe. If it was then pharrel is a genius. Now I'm hooked to Tribe the same way I was hooked to The Fugees, especially Wyclef and Lauryn. If The Fugees did more material together I would say that they should have done a VERZUZ with A Tribe called quest. I'm gonna take my time with this album before I move on to Midnight Marauders. The Low End Theory is a classic. 10/10.
I feel like tribe showed the world that you do not need to be a gangsta to rap, swear a lot in your raps, do commercial raps like mc hammer and sir mix a lot, last but not least, you do not need a chain or be materialistic to be a rapper and make it in rap. I'm definetly not against the ones that do or did all that shit, its dope but with Tribe, they showed the world that all you need is great artistry. That's what they display
I hope they get inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame.
Shoutout to anyone who take their time to read this. Rest Easy Phife and Hip Hop for life!

People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm was my introduction to A Tribe Called Quest, mainly the song I Left My Wallet in El Segundo. Next up on the list was Low End Theory, and I'll admit that while I appreciate PITPR, I kinda like Low End Theory just a little bit more because of the songs. Tracks like Check the Rhime (yes, that's how they spelled it on the album), Buggin Out, and Butter are my personal favorites. I was kind of out to lunch on the Midnight Marauders album because it never stuck out to me. Then I fell in love with Beats, Rhymes, and Life. Songs like Stressed Out really get me relaxed and at peace, and I know little songs that do that to me.
I know this is a 3 year old video, but Anthony did a great job reviewing this classic, and I hope he continues with his music career or anything he wishes to do with it. :)

Although The Low End Theory is a good album, it will never be better/ represent TCQ more than Midnight Marauders
Love this album, and while it may be their most important in terms of hip hop history. Midnight Marauders is still my all time favorite hip hop album, i feel its the more complete album, the lyrics seem tighter, and the beats are great... It's like the perfect next step from low end theory.
I like midnight marauders more but this album is a straight classic and will forever be remembered :)
I felt it was a low to light 11/10. Yes, all that plus one more.

DO AESOP ROCK'S "LABOR DAYS". It's been arguably the most influential album in underground hip hop since its release, and it touches on perhaps the most prominent issue of that time, being the working population of the United States.
