Thank you for actually taking the 4runner off road and showing it some love. Most reviewers focus on the wrong things with the 4Runner cause yes it is outdated and there are flaws like mpg and having a truck like drive on the road with lots of body roll but I love it. I mean if you drive a truck then it’s really not bad as people say. It’s not a super sports car so as long as you aren’t flying around turns you’ll be good. I wouldn’t trade my 4runner for anything else. 4runnerGang for life

I’m on my third 4R, my last one was a 2011 SR5 premium, I had to sell to get a work truck. Once truck was paid for I went back to Toyota dealer and bought a new 2020 ORP with KDSS and love it. Paid cash this time, no vehicle payments.

Nice review, like the enthusiasm and fact you actually pushed the 4Runner Off-Road. I haven't owned a Tacoma, My 2014 4Runner Trail has done everything I have asked of it. Yes, the engine and driveline are old designs, but they are tough and super reliable. Have wheeled with many people with Tacoma's and they have gone over everything I have. Of course on some obstacles the longer wheelbase Tacoma does better and the same is true for the 4Runner in some areas. The Jeep Wrangler is a more dedicated off-roader. Both vehicles with a 3" lift and some decent All Terrain tires are beasts. The Wrangler will go over difficult stuff easier. That said, On road and living with it day to day, I will always go with the 4Runner and look forward to getting a 6th gen...

This is an excellent review. Wranglers are great off road. I've had both, and the problem with a Wrangler is that you have to live with it daily. The 4Runner is just a joy to own and much easier to live with.
