I've got a 2022 SR5 Premium with the Toyota heritage front, alt terrain tires and TRD exhaust and overall it's a pretty badass car that I love!! The 5 speed transmission and gas mileage are the only buzz kills about the 4Runner but working from home it evens out at the end of the day. Plus if you're worried about gas mileage you're not even considering the 4Runner. Nothing luxurious about the 4Runner but that is why I bought it...I wanted the size, dependability and something I could have for a long time. I've heard the term "it's perfectly imperfect" used to describe the 4Runner and it's 100% true. It's not perfect by any means but the imperfections make it the perfect SUV!!

I bought a 2022 4RUNNER Trd Pro a few weeks ago. I'm a Toyota guy, I've owned 2 Tacomas, 2 Tundras and this is my 2nd 4RUNNER. Although I like the look of the Bronco and Wrangler plus the options to remove the top or doors I still picked a 4RUNNER...the reliability of them compared to the 4RUNNER is abismal. You get warranty with them or can buy a warranty but who wants to spend time at the Dealership. I really tried to buy a non Toyota but in the end I just couldn't. I'd rather have a vehicle that doesnt have as many bells and whistles that will last compared to one that has them but I have to pour money into or spend my time getting it fixed. Until they can match the reliability or come close I'll stay with Toyota. Thanks for the videos !

Have a 2014 Trail. Basically the same as the TRD off-road. Not much has changed since mine. Same look, engine, transmission reliability. 3" OME lift, Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T's, all set up for Overlanding and camping. Love it!! Yes, it's a dinosaur, the gas mileage stinks and it sorely needs an upgrade...Hope to get the new one in 2025. Not buying the first year of the new design. Hopefully they come out with a turbo hybrid with 400+ HP and 25 MPG, keeping the reliability. We'll see. Not in a hurry to change...133,000 miles and it still drives like new.

I'm looking for a more usable car here at my place in Oregon and a minivan just doesn't cut it year round. This would be nice to have except the 2006 Odyssey has been so reliable and has been in our family since kids were little. It's already starting to show it's age and selling it would only return spare change. Where it's costly to own is it's insurance but for the most part it's been paid off. This TRD is perfect for our needs here.

Nice 4Runner, I bought a 2022 ORP 4Runner with kdss and I really like it.
Crash test ratings are a joke if comparing big to small vehicles. They really should only be used to compare like vehicles. As you know in the crash test they run the cars and trucks into a wall, so if a mini cooper is running into a wall at a certain speed, that's the same energy as if it ran head on into another mini cooper both going that speed. If a truck runs into a wall, it's the same as if it hits another truck head on both going at that same speed. So the bigger vehicle is imparting way more energy into the wall than the smaller vehicle. Plus small vehicles need to be "stiffer" so they don't get crushed if running into a bigger vehicle, and the bigger vehicles have to be "softer" so they don't crush the small vehicles. I would much rather be in the bigger vehicle in a crash than in a small vehicle.

Wait- would you normally have to drill holes in your roof without a factory rack on this vehicle? I used to install roof racks (though admittedly I can't recall a 4runner), but isn't there just predrilled slots on the roof under the rubber trim pieces if you didn't have a rack?? Seems like it would be a big oversight to not include that.

Keep shopping around. Demand for TRD Pros is very high, and you’ll either be paying a markup to get one sooner, or waiting. I purchased my TRD ORP from a dealer in northern Colorado that is FANTASTIC. They were upfront right away about no ADM, but the wait list on a TRD Pro was going to be 6-10 months. I waited only a month for my TRD ORP. Maybe consider that trim, especially if you want the option to upgrade to a better suspension than a Pro and still have money left over.

I got a ‘22 Off Road Premium for $45k…and that left the $10k price difference between a TRD Pro to upgrade wheels and tires, get sliders and skids, AND get a better suspension than what is on the TRD Pro.
