I think they are both very cool. Bought a TRD Pro but considered the Bronco as an option.
The concept of the Bronco are amazing. So capable. Reliability and quality could be better.
The 4Runner has pretty nice classic design too, great quality and reliability, however needs the modularity and upgradability of the Bronco.
If Toyota beefs up the 4Runner, adds some metal bumpers, allows extra large tires and heavier duty suspension, lockers, they will have something that can compete with the best that Ford or Jeep put out

The driving skills of the drivers are suspect here. You cannot get up challenging obstacles by being on and off the throttle.Momentum is your friend-I’m not talking about ramming speed,I’m talking about crawling slow in low and allowing the torque to carry you over the obstacles.Watching these people drive what I consider easy stage 1 trails was cringeworthy.
Obviously,Toyota reliability is legendary, and I have heard all the stories about problems with the Broncos already from my brother in law-who is a service manager at Ford.Personally I like the Bronco, but I am a 4 Runner owner-4 of them over 25 years and over a million miles-with zero failures of anything.Dead nuts reliability is everything when you’re 20 miles or more from the closest road and further from help.

I loved my 4Runner and they are very capable vehicles (especially when modded), but I have no regrets upgrading to my Bronco. BTW, your description has the Bronco as a 6 speed auto. All this damn computer tech is a crock-- once that mess starts having issues- and electronic crap always does-- it'll cost ANOTHER fortune to fix.. just not worth it.

I DON"T CARE which is best---- the Bronco is a FORD- so no matter how GOOD it is now-- given a little time- it'll fall to pieces and be WORTHLESS without spending a FORTUNE in maintaining it.. and it's NOT WORTH IT.. The 4 Runner is expensive at first- but easier to maintain- and will -- definitely WILL- go many hundred thousand miles with NO issues and last for many many years!!!

The Bronco looks cool when it's lifted. The Bronco is a cool concept, unfortunately it's a Ford product and ALL Ford products are absolute GARBAGE!!
