I've had that same generation 4Runner and currently own a Bronco with the Sasquatch package. Enjoyed the 4runner and was very comfortable on long trips but the engine was just outdated. The Bronco is so much more fun and don't regret it at all.
Traded a Bronco Black Diamond Sasquatch for a TRD Off Road, never looked back.
my 2.7 wildtrack has misfire and can't be fixed
If you want to have your vehicle running perhaps decades after the apocalypse, you get a 4Runner. I would say side by side, being lifted and looks-wise, for this moment I have a soft spot on the Bronco. Price and value if I spent the money I'd just be way more confident on the 4Runner.
@@davidglad yea I like that the 4Runner has that flexibility where it has resale value and is one of the few new cars that can be kept past the warranty period. If 3 years from now car market goes asinine again and interest rates are 20%, I won’t bother leasing another new vehicle I’ll just buy out the 4Runner.
Yo my bro 🤝😎👍🏾👍🏾
The Bronco looks like more fun, but those turbo engines aren't going to last half as long as that Toyota v6.
50k no ty
I would choose the 4R every single time. However if I wanted a comparable off road version to the Bronco, it would have to be the 4R TRD Pro. Your Gen looks way better than the redesigned one also. Bulletproof V6.
I own both currently. 2023 TRD Pro and 2023 Badlands. 4R is outdated but it’s better built by a wide margin. Badlands is garbage on fit and finish. Doubt either option powertrain in the Bronco will last or be remotely as reliable the outgoing gen 4R.
Don’t worry your 4 runner will last as long as you take care of it.
Great video. This was a huge decision for me personally. I recently just purchased a 24 4Runner TRD Pro in Underground. I was primarily looking at a 2023 Bronco Badlands with the Sasquatch package in eruption green, I agree with you about the riding experience 4Runner is much better, but when it comes to durability and resilience, the Bronco just can’t hold a candle to the 4Runner.
Yes the 4Runners engine is loud, not that powerful, and a thirsty engine at 16-18 mpg (22-23 if you keep it under 3k rpm and speed limits of 55-65, with or without the AC on) but what you get is bulletproof reliability. Why would I buy a 60k-70k Bronco and have to worry about tire rods or a steering rack? Just honestly not worth the hassle. If Ford could make the Bronco more reliable and didn’t totally botch the availability the first couple of years of its release I probably would have bought it. But I’m so happy I bought the 4Runner, especially the TRD Pro… *even with the nitto Terra grapplers 😂*
Also Toyota should definitely be paying the Car Care Nut and Automotive Press for their reviews of the 4Runner. They were pretty huge influences in my purchase.
The Bronco looks cool and has impressive capabilities, but if you’re keeping the vehicle for more than a couple years, I’d go 4Runner all day long. Better build quality, proven to last forever, more capable than anyone needs, and also looks great. Cant go wrong with a 4Runner if you can afford it.
4Runner all the way. Built in Japan and naturally aspirated V6. Stay away from the turbocharged engines if you want reliability.
Agree
Too bad the next-gen 4runner ditched the NA v6 for a turbocharged 4
I love my '21 4Runner. Ventura w/trd stuff. Barcelona red. What a beautiful color. I decided this over the Bronco due to Ford's continued quality issues. It is PERFECT FOR ME!
Choosing a Ford over a Toyota is like choosing to stick your junk in blender versus remaining in tact.
LOL. 😂. Priceless comment
Life is just one, enjoy what you love! Bronco is cool and capable, I possess both
Says the guy who doesn’t know Toyota recalled over 100k vehicles due to potential engine failure…clueless is bliss
@@JeepCherokeefulthat’s all soyota fanboys have to grasp at, re-reliability!!
@@nerudaab4265 It's not smart to waste $60,000 on a truck that only lasts ten years when you can get a truck that lasts 30 years. Unless you just care about looking pretty...
I do like the driveability of the 4Runner over the Full size Bronco. However the 1major complaint is the fact of the dangerously wide turning radius of the Toyota is a major issue! And in snow the 4Runner in 4wH turn response is actually 20 something feet. With that said TRD has a much peppier experience with the annoyment of needing to under steer to place the truck where you want it.
Had a Four-runner, it was a boring rattle trap, have a Badlands Sasquatch and I love driving it.
Anybody 40+ i can understand the love of the bronco. Nostalgia is a mfer.
If you have no recollection of the bronco, it is difficult to understand why you would overpay for that Ford.
If i was buying a vehicle just to have fun with, id get the 2 door bronco with the manual 4 cyl. But for all other reasons id probably get the runner.
Congrats man!
@@ShowMeWhatINeedToKnow thank you my friend!
ez 4runner🤷🏽♂️
Apples to oranges comparison?!
The Bronco and Wrangler are in a class of their own, the old FJ flirted with the concept but never fully committed, which is probably why it failed.
Your 4Runner is an outstanding vehicle, but comparing it to a Bronco doesn’t make sense, you’d be closer to hitting the mark comparing it to a Grand Cherokee???
The 4Runner is light, nimble and a surprisingly smooth drive, the Bronco is a brute! It’s like comparing a fine kitchen knife to a cleaver, two very different tools!
Enjoy the 4Runner!
Woah let’s not throw insults to the 4Runner. The 4Runner was the only SUV that was body on frame with a solid rear axle for years before ford brought back the bronco. It’s just as much of an off roader as the bronco. The 4Runner doesn’t have the variety or the modularity of the bronco from the factory, but it has more aftermarket products than the bronco does. Judging from that comment alone shows you don’t know much about the 4runner
@@swimmer8585he wasn't insulting the 4runner.
@@Zenergist he compared it to a grand Cherokee. That’s an awful insult
Bronco interior is small not to mention noisy.
Yet its bigger on the outside compared to the 4.
4Runner all day
4runner definitely the better vehicle
Do a comparison with new gen 4Runner and bronco. Both will probably be junk looking at both companies race to the bottom now days. Toyota of old is no mas
Yupp I hear bad things about the new Toyota v6.
Nice comparison!
@@Excalabur50 thanks!
I'd also say the Hyundai N's have good sounding 2.0T engines. I actually like them more in Sport as opposed to Sport+ drive mode though. The crackle and pops are just a little much imo.
Toyota all the way.
4R all the way!!!
Broncos are cool, I, in the past owned a 5.8 bronco, I put 350k miles before I gave it to my son, truck was great, but I doubt these new broncos 4cyl,/6cyl turbos will offer that longevity. In this respect, I give it to the 4.0 NA 4Runner!!
I went to carmax two days ago to look at broncos and 4runners.
The salesman shook his head and said " you don't want the bronco. Trust me. Its not worth it."
He then went on to explain that broncos are top of their list of problem vehicles.
I'm gonna just say "yes" before watching the video. Algorithm baby
@@devongee1776 😅 appreciate you my friend
Toyota V6 natural aspirated engine is unbeatable regarding durability & relaibality، new engines V6 & 4 cylenders turbo charged proved to be junk .
Toyota 👏🏽 💯
You think that stock 2.3L is fast?
I’ll let you drive my 400 WHP 2.7L Twin Turbo Bronco Sasquatch.
I live right outside of Raleigh.
@@fullspeedfordbronco I mean a Tesla Plaid is fast 😅 these vehicles are effortless for the street and satisfactory for anyone looking to buy or lease. I think I may be able to get a Raptor Bronco this year to test so I will be sure to provide my detailed thoughts on it but I thank you for trusting me and allowing me to test your epic Bronco my friend! Enjoy the vehicle that’s truly a blessing and subbed to your channel 👍
I sold my 4runner, veey uncomfortable, good reliability but not as capable of my wildtrak Bronco. I also have my Lexus GX 2004 very solid and comfortable..
👊🏾👍🏾👍🏾
For short term ownership, probably a wash.
I would agree with you about 25 years ago but those days are long gone, they can barely keep up the reliability to a Chevy and that's not good definitely the Broncos and Hondas the way to go!!!!
Loose the Bronco,, go with the TOYOTA!! no joke you'll have a much better suv than that Ford! Many of those Fords have alignment issues wearing out the front tires, there's just things your gonna have to accept and deal with in that Ford that you can avoid going into a TOYOTA
I have an outer banks we do have power seat
@@chikidd24 thank you for confirming this!
Broncos are Junk my friend
I've had a '21 4Runner TRD Pro since October of 2020. While the drivetrain/powertrain have been good, there are a few issues with 4Runners. Uncomfortable seats. Lack of interior creature comforts most modern vehicles have. And... RUST. 4Runners RUST like crazy. Had to literally take a saw to my lower control arms to cut them off the vehicle because the cam adjust bolts had rusted and seized. Alignments could no longer be done. This is a very common problem on 4Runners. And it's nearly impossible to get new cam adjust bolts from Toyota. They are incredibly rare and hard to get due to a shortage from the factory. And when you can find them, you're gonna pay $400 for a couple of bolts. Lots of rust on the frame. Lots of rust on the body. Toyota paint is also horrible. Car is completely covered in rock chips and rust. Common problem.
Do you live in the ocean ? Lol.
Never heard of such a problem so soon.
Rust affects all vehicles. Not sure why 4runner would be more prone to rust than any other vehicle.
Move onto land bro.
@@Zenergist Never heard of it? Come on... It's been a problem on most Toyotas for decades, especially the 4Runner. Even a simple Google search will show you. Even the rear "garnish" trim piece on the tailgate is known to cause rusting and paint damage at the corners due to bad design. There's a reason the LCA cam adjust bolts are impossible to find. There's a nation-wide shortage for a reason. Because they're in such high demand from them rusting and needing to be cut off to do an alignment... Call up your local Toyota dealership and try to order those bolts. They'll laugh you off the phone. Something about the 4Runners does cause them to rust more. Their paint is pretty bad. Huge issue with Toyota's white paint as well where they messed up the clear coat and it flakes off the cars. Big recall/warranty issue with that going back 10 years.
@@FourT6and22 idk man. I've heard of rust on 4runners certainly, but not more than other brands.
Any steel framed vehicle will rust . For yours to rust that much in 3 years means you're in an extremely bad environment. Maybe lots of salted snow in the North East ?
@@Zenergist SF Bay Area. I had a Lexus IS300 for 10 years that saw winters in upstate NY, MA, CT, and Detroit that had zero rust. This 4Runer is in California and is already rusted to hell. It's a common problem whether you've heard of it or not...
@@FourT6and22 that is strange indeed considering Lexus vehicles are made in the same factory as 4 runners, in Tahara Japan.
You might want to talk to your dealer about that.
I’m in a 4runner now, our fifth one, but I do love the new Bronco. Whether it has the reliability or not, that’s the question. Still, as an original Bronco owner from way back, I like the new concept. Nicely done. 👍🤪🏳️🌈
The Bronco has twice the attitude of the 4Runner. Take the roof and doors off and it’s three times the attitude.
I like the Nitto grapplers on my TRD Pro. If they make noise, I can't hear them over the exhaust. True off-road tires like KO2's would be noisier and heavier and a lot more expensive. I don't want huge, aggressive tires on a midsize SUV that spends 99% of its time on pavement.
That's great my friend. I guess the point that I was trying to make that many people missed is the Nittos make the same amount of noise as a K02 while not offering the same level of performance.
It doesn't offer the quiet, refinement, or on road performance of the Continental terrain contact and doesn't offer the off road performance of a K02 while performing as poorly if not worse than the K02s on road. Enjoy your new TRD Pro and God Bless!
The sound is fake on the bronco piped through the speakers.
Ford engine is not durable or will last long
Go with the Toyota. Ford is trash.
I think with all the reliability issues toyota is having right now. The better option is the Bronco. Not only that but the 4 runner TRD isnt as good off road as the badlands Bronco
You do realize the 4Runner is not a redesigned generation like the problematic Tundra.
This 4Runner is in its 15th model year and is extremely reliable.
Ford Bronco is better that's my own opinion 🤎
@@user-gd9um1xo4g yea I think I enjoyed driving it a bit more main benefit of 4Runner in this comparison is surprisingly refinement especially with those bridgestones
