- Will the sheep graze with the chickens? Or will they terrorize the chicken tractors?
Mark's talking about multi species grazing on the homestead and how you can use electric fence, and a watering system to make it work for you.

"Usually it doesn't kill 'em"...lol! 😆
You are doing fine Mark. Next year you may have to do some more rotational grazing with the sheep. But you got hardy breeds of sheep
We have rotated the sheep quite a bit and it works great! They've cleaned up a few marginal areas for us. Yes, they are hardy!
"Sheep just wanna die"...old school sheep farmers say😊
how often are you moving your sheep to new pastures?
I've only got a few sheep, I'm not moving them every day. but I'm trying to move them at least every 2 weeks. I was told when I first got sheep to not leave sheep in the same paddock or pasture for more than 20 days, and then give each pasture at least 22 days rest before putting the sheep back on it. I've got 4 pastures I can put my sheep on, but 1 has no shade so I'm not using it for the sheep during the summer.
I also run my horses with my sheep. I have 2 horses, and my lead ewe always stays close to the older mare.
1st world problems! What about doing a hay analysis?
Why not put your pigs in there.
The pigs like to eat the grass roots and leave various sized holes that make it difficult to maintain the pasture for the chickens and run the tractors through the field. Also, they like chicken dinner and chicken feed and they'd destroy the tractors if let in with the chickens like we did the sheep.
