  • Alright folks my final review of the Asus G75 Gaming Laptop. I installed a Corsair SSD and 16GB of 1600mhz of ram then updated the bios and graphics drivers from Asus website. I also installed a fresh copy of windows 7 64bit then re-did the benchmarks...3DMarkVantage went from 11390 base to 12019! Memory can overclock very nicely with the bios update!

    After reading reviews of a Raid Stripe 0 vs. a SSD I ended up going with SSD as a primary boot drive and the 1 TB as the junk master drive just like you. Just plugged in the RAM and this thing is great.

    I just got mine last week. Just install MSI Afterburner. It is completely legit. I overclocked my core and shader clocks to max at 530mhz for core and 1060mhz for shader. Core reaches 950mhz in game though. Memory overclocked to 3000mhz. All of these clocks are completely stable. Good luck.

    First laptop I have ever seen without bloatware! Not sure on the processes but will check

  • @PaulNelsonphotography

    It's hard to beat the price for the specs you get if your on a budget plus the 30 day return is nice.

  • @PaulNelsonphotography
    @PaulNelsonphotography  Před 12 lety

    For sure this system can handle that no problem

  • @PaulNelsonphotography
    @PaulNelsonphotography  Před 12 lety

    For the price and the specs its the best out at the moment.

  • @Driftyz5o
    @Driftyz5o Před 12 lety

    Great review. Im most likely getting the same model as you eventually. Was it easy to install the SSD and the extra ram?

  • @PaulNelsonphotography
    @PaulNelsonphotography  Před 12 lety

    The one screw on the bottom of the laptop. Undue that and pry the cover up and you'll see the two memory slots.

  • @PaulNelsonphotography
    @PaulNelsonphotography  Před 12 lety

    Depends on the price!

  • @PaulNelsonphotography
    @PaulNelsonphotography  Před 12 lety

    Depends on your budget. I know if your just starting out 8gb of ram is more than enough to any kind of gaming. The stock hard drive is kinda slow but has tons of room. The system is going to be really fast out of the box. I would just try it see how ya like it.

    I got this laptop the same day you did. I've heard best buy lowers the specs on some of the laptops so I've been waiting to see if anyone else got the G75 from somewhere if it will have the same specs. I've been playing skyrim on untra and it hardly even gets warm. it's running great so far.

  • @PaulNelsonphotography
    @PaulNelsonphotography  Před 12 lety

    One of the easiest to date! Make sure you burn the drivers for the usb 3.0 to a cd they wont work till you get them loaded up.

  • @PaulNelsonphotography
    @PaulNelsonphotography  Před 12 lety

    So far with my testing the 660gtx matches the 670 but much more efficient and runs way cooler draws less power. I'm sure Nvidia will be coming out with better drivers to utilize the new tech

  • @Pikapichu24
    @Pikapichu24 Před 12 lety

    Good to hear that it doesn't get hot even under load. It looks pretty heavy though, like it would sooner crush your lap than burn it. Would the weight (notebook + power brick) would be a huge burden to lug around on a daily basis for the average non-gym-going male?

  • @PaulNelsonphotography
    @PaulNelsonphotography  Před 12 lety

    I agree with that! I would get the amd hd 7970

  • @sirhux
    @sirhux Před 12 lety

    Great review. Going to get this right now. What is the model of the stock hard drive ?

  • @PaulNelsonphotography
    @PaulNelsonphotography  Před 12 lety

    Download MSI Afterburner from Guru3D and only overclock the memory 350mhz and set the program to auto boot on startup.

  • @PaulNelsonphotography
    @PaulNelsonphotography  Před 12 lety

    Sure! Use MSI Afterburner till it blue-screens then back off little by little.

  • @Yaniiboy
    @Yaniiboy Před 12 lety

    yeah I agree. I wasn't sure about having the gtx 660m over the 670 but I guess a lot of people prefer it. I also ordered a solid state drive because the 5400rpm HD won't cut it alone... I haven't opened mine up yet, but I heard it has 2 4gb sticks of ram instead of 1 8gb stick? If so, that would be a waste of I wanted to upgrade later

    It has a option to turn it on and off. I put a picture up at laptop forums

    I've heard differently. I heard the G675M supported Optimus.

  • @PaulNelsonphotography
    @PaulNelsonphotography  Před 12 lety

    One screw on the back and the cover pry's up. Ram is real easy

  • @PaulNelsonphotography
    @PaulNelsonphotography  Před 12 lety

    Yeah very easy just make sure to burn the system drivers to a dvd. All the ports are usb 3.0 so they wont work till they see some drivers.

  • @Serephucus
    @Serephucus Před 12 lety

    I'm wondering if you could answer something for me: Does the G75 support Optimus? I can't find a definitive answer anywhere, and it's the only thing stopping me from buying it at the moment.
    Oh, also: battery life when browsing, ish?
    Thanks!
