Welcome back all,
In this weeks video we head back up to Anglia Car Auctions, to attend their November, 2 day classic car auction. These auctions have become quite the highlight in our calendar and we always look forward to the weekend up in Kings Lynn.
This sale was slightly more wet an miserable than usual but the selection of cars soon brightened up my weekend! Some of my favourite classics included the 2.8 Ford Capri, Track built Golf GTI, Citroen AX GT and I also loved the little Ford Puma which went so cheap!
It was great to bump into lots of subscribers at the auction, who said their visit was prompted by my previous videos up at ACA. The auction really is a great way to spend a weekend, with lots of the classics going for bargain prices and others, jaw dropping sky high prices!

Let's just take a moment to appreciate Lauren for standing around all day in the freezing cold and wet when it wasn't her video, she could have spent the day tucked up in the warm, but no, that's dedication. The car of the auction for me was the Hillman Imp, gorgeous car. Mitch, they're water cooled but did suffer with over heating issues, the engine was originally a race engine called the Coventry Climax which was altered for the Imp for road use.

@@iankennedy1441 My Dad had a 1.8LX Sierra estate, was a good car although the weak point was the 1.8 CVH, he put a second engine in it (miles unknown), did 60k and needed another so he got rid. To be honest though, the first engine lasted 120k so the car certainly had a life.

The imp had a Coventry climax derived all aluminium water cooled engine. Originally an engine designed to power fire engine pumps! Very tunable and used for motor sport in the day.

Great video Mitch. Earlier today I watched Mathewsons auctions video of a mk2 Ford Granada 2.8 ghia in red. Then just now I've watched this video also featuring a mk2 Granada 2.8 in red. Cars looked identical, so when it didn't sell at ACA, I'm thinking they've taken it to Mathewsons to sell it. I re-looked at their video and its NOT same car! One Granada for Saturday, one for Sunday maybe? I hope you got Lauren a hot bovril to warm her up after this auction. Keep up the fantastic work Mitch.

Some good cars in that auction. I think the Mondeo Mark 1 4x4 will be next on the list to go up in value, and the Sierra Sapphire 4x4 Ghia, to name a few.
hilman imp is water cooled, the radiator was behind that big fan cowling. it was a 1ltr 4cyl all alloy OHC, really nippy motor, cars were made in scotland, a rival to the mini
the p100 pickups were built in south africa, they started with mk3 cortina front ends, then mk5 cortina fronts, then the sierra front end. They were a hoot to drive in the wet, many pairs of underpants were ruined driving them flat out everywhere in the rain... most were 2ltr pintos, all were hire vehicles...

hIYA , Enjoyed the video many thanks , loved seeing the 2.8 Granada , my favourite car there was not shown apart from some footage in the background and that was the Sunbeam Rapier fastback , would have loved to have seen that go through , that's my dream car right there i believe it was Green met paint job , stay safe and many thanks , will look forward to the next one .

Mitch, really enjoyed the auction. Nice selection of cars. Surprised that the Vauxhalls weren’t like Swiss Cheese underneath. I’d love the Imp; my wife had the exact same as the one on your show. Aluminium engine, water cooled, nice grocery better, with a lot of good memories. Thanks.

Yes that was a phone in the BMW 😂 The best deal there was the Puma. I knew the second I saw that xr3i that they'd be a leak somewhere 😂 My favourite car was that Granada. What a beaut. Great video as always mate. 👍

I recon Ford Capri's are gonna sky rocket as Ford are producing a new 23/24 one that looks sh!te...the 3ltr S was the best with mesh head rests imo 😊
Agree I owned a midnight blue 3.0s with the mesh headrests and vinyl roof, amazing motor went like stink, not a lot of cars could keep up with her back in the 80's if only I still had her....... Oh well I can dream I suppose !!!!
Weren’t the 3.0 all auto though? 🤔. The 2.8i Brooklands probably would be my pick. Always loved the look of the Capri though.
Wouldn't fancy a long distance holiday in that little Rascal. always wanted a 2.8i Capri but never had the pockets for one, maybe buy a Brooklands if ever the lottery landed, wishful thinking!

Great channel really enjoy the classic cars all the cars of my era 70,80,90s and lot of them I owned but here's a challenge for you a ford probe 24v 2.5 a car you may struggled to find. I passed my test in a hillman imp and my daughter learnt in a metro but passed in a puma so great memories thank you.

Thanks again for the auction review. Those P100 diesel engines were rubbish as the head gaskets go for a past time, i had a petrol one, a 2.0 pinto one, but in the end i put a 2.8 turbo injection engine in, but standard looks from the outside 😁

Hillman Imps engine is the Coventry Climax engine it's water-cooled and prone to overheating if not looked after

Kings Lynn is near me as I live in Norwich. But my interest was in LandRovers but never reviewed, disappointingly.

Hillman imp super, I think the radiator on the left behind the water pump might have been a clue as to the cooling

AX GT - quicker off the line than a 1.3 Nova SR, but not as good in the bends = hedges.

Maybe you are thinking of the Recaro seats?
Interior is definitely spot on. For a 'base' 2.8. Very similar (maybe the same) as the previous S models.
I used to see S model with Recaro seats with the mesh headrests. I've not sure about Recaros in 2.8s, but I'd bet they were an option. Or possibly the 2.8i Special had different interior? I'm just not that clued in about Capris. But I saw loads with that very interior,
I'm sure the run out Brooklands had Recaros, leather or half leather... I'm not sure.
I remember the Laser models having laser seats. Very similar to the new XR3 (no 'i' at launch)
Lasers definitely didn't get Recaros, just the regular seats with the laser pattern.
Back then that was the look.
Golf started the check party (I think) my TR7, my friends Cavalier SR (still no 'i') Astra GTE probably others... But definitely the pattern to have!
