Save up! I'm hoping the vaper cooling if there's no problem will make it to the XPS 15 next year! Also wait until these are on sale! I've seen XPS 15 models with 16gb and 512gb storage that usually goes for 1800 to be only $1400 during certain sales

thanks a lot for the insightful review, incl. pro and con. I'm on the edge of buying this device as a travel-photo-editing-machine and would like to ask few questions;
1) How heavy is the charger, and given it's USB-C, can you replace it with third party in case it fails in the field?
2) Do you expect Dell to add a Ryzen model later?
3) Do you have a chance to compare it to the ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2? The ThinkPad is just a little bit older, but also offers a small form factor, full size SD-Card and adds more interfaces, such as USB-A without the need for dongles. I think you get my point on that one.

Thanks for the nice review! What about the touchpad? Is the whole area clickable as on Macbook? Or similar to other windows laptops - only the half bottom is really touchable? I'm talking about real physical clicks, not "double-tap" of course.

Hi Tom! I'm a little confused about the NVENC encoder. You said the 1650 Ti does not support it, but according to Nividia's website, the 1650 and 1660 do, what's up with that? Or is it based on the generation? I can't really find any reliable info on which card actually support it and which don't. Looking to pick up a new laptop for premiere and having NVENC would be great

Is your stays closed when you hold flipped on side? Is your screen by the sides brighter at the bottom? Mine is like half of screen edges much brighter.

Yeah, I think the XPS 17 is the one to get. That vapour chamber cooling should help it maintain a higher boost clock. What is the PL1 value on this?
I had the UHD+ 1TB 1650Ti version delivered last Saturday so I have had time with it, its a very well build beautiful laptop. Dell gave me 14% off so it was £1977 from £2299. I have very slight pretravel with the mouse pad, even touching my wrist on it when type makes it click so I contact tell to return it, they offered a further 10% discount to keep it (24% in total making it £1747 tax inclusive) but having slept on it, I am still going to return it. I hope they fix the trackpad issues soon.
After I watched your video, I am now reconsidering keep it with the extra discount, I just dont know what to do!

Does the screen bounce around when you are using the touch screen? It seems that was always the downside of the one-finger opening hinge. That its not that firm for poking around?

Any concern with the reduced battery cycles? I am unclear and was not able to find what that truly meant. Is it a full battery discharge and full re-charge that counts towards it? Does plugging in your system at half battery count?

Do the touch models of the XPS 15 have pressure sensitive pen support? Would be useful for notes and graphs, that kind of thing. Currently tossing up between this and the surface book 3; and of course I'm leaning towards this for performance but pen support / palm rejection might be a deal breaker.

How is the battery life on the 4k model when you set the screen resolution to FHD? Is it comparable to the native FHD model then?
I'd love the 4k screen, but it would be very good to have this option when going on a longer trip for example.

I bought this laptop 3 weeks ago. I have been using it for the past 5 days mainly on Microsoft Teams and a virtual fieldwork program for my course at university. The laptop is very fast although it heats up very easily and on 4 occasions in the last 5 days my screen has suddenly went black so I have to wait for about 5-10 minutes to get it going again and when I do, any apps open are gone so I have to set them up again. Is there anyway to rectify this or should I just send it back? Any suggestions is much appreciated.

Bought the "white frost" version, 15 inch, i7, 1TB, with a touch screen, 10th gen, 16gb. It was more than bloody $4000 AUD but DAMN. This thing, is a BEAST.

How to get Trackpad momentum to work on dell xps 15? I must get trackpad momentum to work. I'm disappointed i haven't figured it out. Waiting for the XPS 17. I want the 4K model for the color accuracy. A. would turning the resolution to 1080p raise the battery life to around the 1080p model? and B. would lowering the resolution alter the color calibration, ie. make it not 100% sRGB and not 100% Adobe RGB?

I was never bothered by the bottom bezel on laptops and always thought only side bezels were important. Well, after seeing that screen go all the way to the keyboard, it looks incredible.

In regards to the speed throttling.. have you ever tried using an external cooling device? I used to have a cooling pad with 4 fans that I would place my laptop on whenever using it at home and I was never too sure if it made a difference in performance, but it definitely kept the external temperature down on the keyboard. Wondering if something like that would actually help with performance especially with 4k video editing. I’m really thinking of getting the new XPS 13 with some higher end specs, but I want to make sure I can get the most out of it.

As Dell does not manufactures displays, they can only use what is available on the market. A 16:10 15" OLED display is simply not available at the moment.
However - do notice the XPS 15 uses a IGZO4 panel from Sharp. That means less power consumption, resulting in better battery life :)

Hey dell sent me 2 bad xps 15 9500 laptops. The videos are on my channel. BUT my question to you is which do you prefer mac 16 or XPS 15? I'm having a hard time on re-deciding on what I want. I've been with Dell for years and never had an apple product. I love the 4k display on the XPS vs the 2.5k display on the Mac. Again which direction would you go given you had 2 bad 9500 laptops and dell is supposedly sending out a 3rd, that they hope won't have problems??

Hey! Not sure if you will reply but I can't decide between the 8GB and the 16GB. It's only about a $100 difference but I can't tell if it's worth the extra RAM. The laptop I have now is a 8GB and it never seems to be enough, but i'm not sure if it's just my laptop.
I never paid full price for the Dell. The i7 9750h, GTX 1650 was priced similar last year too, but I was able to grab one @$1650 (16GB, 500GB, 4K OLED), that laptop was not for me. Hope to get similar price around July this year.

I bought a 2019 version in March 2020, so just a couple months ago. ... Watched a lot of reviews, including The Tech Chap (definitely, one of the best reviewers). Recently, I have notices the coating on the corners of the palm-rest started to peel off. Also, a couple scratches on the front metal border. I have been studying and working form home and am a careful user. Any advice? Anyone having similar issues?
