  • A temporary axle repair so we could get around KOH with a 1/3d of a rear axle. And not destroy the housing end where the bearing presses in.

Seven year is like forever doing the wheeling that you do. Great trail repair. Love watching that jeep in action

You already built a 5 lug full float Dana 60. It's in my Willys wagon.

just curious.. if you do slip into the housing end and bolt retained full float spindles.. you could install some thing similar to the bushing you drove in mid or at the same depth.. even though might need to make it slightly bigger.. this might prevent whipping of the axles shafts inside the housing under extreme loads.. if its rubber lined.. like a cutlass bearing the rubber would act like a cushion when anything whips under extreme loads.
should probably create a tapered pipe thread on the inside of the metal part of the bushing sleeves so you could use a piece of threaded water pipe with a pipe cap or tee threaded into it to yank the sleeve out of the housing if an axle snaps past the bushing.
i would also think that creative tube bumpers. could be used to store things like sections of spare drive shafts.. extra axles. inside the cross tubes. if you weld on extra receiver tubes on the inside of the bumpers.. you could store various tow plugs in them without any chance of them bouncing around... or falling out of the truck. so you could store a ring.. a hook.. a pintle.. or several different drop inserts.. even a vice mount..

Yes i have heard of the wip in the housing issue. and think a loosish bushing would be a good idea.

With those big of tires, why wouldn't you go full floater on the rear?

Mark Wolfe Super Jeep was designed in 1993, back then you couldn't do a five lug full float rear end yes it is time to upgrade, and back then eight lug? who would need all that just an extra 80 pounds of added weight

My buddy just did this upgrade and shaved 80+ pounds off his full float 14B. Here's his writeup on pirate. Lots of options now days. www.pirate4x4.com/forum/general-4x4-discussion/2303129-14-bolt-aluminun-hubs-some-more.html
