Competitive snowboarding really needed something like the Knuckle Huck. In slopestyle and in the pipe, every trick has been named and done before by someone in the exact same way. The knuckle huck allows riders to actually be creative and innovative, and that's what freestyle is all about.
Yeah this is so fun to watch !

Yeah plus it’s way more laid back it’s just a nice switch up from 4 story jumps with 6 spins and 2 flips
If the judges scored for style instead of gymnastics rotations we could have both.
This is fully constructed situation we could get out of if the ESPN judges would give style more weight in their score.
Sponsors and advertisers like predictability. They like the kid they spent their money on to be on camera, not some rando shredder that kills it with style.
It's not hopeless. We need to teach people what makes snowboarding 'good'...the advertisers, sponsors, etc will follow.
i’m new to snowboarding and have never been on a halfpipe or even in the park just trails and am trying to understand what the knuckle is and what is knuckle huck but it’s just not making sense when i look it up can someone explain it for me

If they added to olympics they break the spirit of it as they usaly do with rules. it should stay as it is fun.
I don't care about the format or so, I wanna see Fridge stamp recklessly down a hill and Zeb Powell fall in control at the Olympics
@@willbill6449 yes that's also gonna be gone too. The IOC basically eliminates all fun aspects of the event including that stuff. they would say once zeb "fell" he would be done with his run and take Fridge's backpack.

The Knuckle Huck competition reminds me so much of my early years boarding, spending all day messing around with friends, throwing whatever, laughing while ripping down runs. I love the spirit and feel of it, and am so glad it was added.
That was the aim! Fun, progression and spontaneity plus sick snowboarding!
@@XGames You know the halfpipe can be this too...you just need to instruct the judges to score style over gymnastic rotations.
I love the tricks where it looks like they fall but it's just a lead in to some insane maneuver

But this summary leaves out the best parts:
Fridge's knuckle hit was the most amazing thing i saw for a long time.

What I love about snow/skate boarding is there are no rules. That pole jam with 2 riders was SICK and I'm not even a snowboarder I'm a skater. If it was a real pole it wouldnt have been as cool. So rad.

snowboarding changed my life and thank god for it. battled through years of depression and I'm not sure where I would be today if I didnt have that 4 hrs of mental escape

Knuckle Huck... I'm a casual fan and that ish was insane!!!!! I wish I could board but I suck on a skateboard hahaha so I just seem to equivalate it to a snowboard. Gotta try it sometime.
Loved going to watch. Went on the Friday night and got to see mens ski super pipe and then the Rae Sremmurd concert. So stoked im living in Aspen this winter, even when your not riding theres plenty to do.
