Pocket check is fricken crucial - you'll have to get used to freaking out when you can't feel your car keys every couple of laps when they're deeper in your pocket than you thought they could go 🤣. Worth it for the clear headed, happy lap that comes from knowing you've got all your gear though. Nice vid TJ
Hahah criiitical. Thanks man 🤘🏼
Yooo
Most pockets have a clip that you can snap your keyring on. That won't help your phone, wallet, etc. but at least you can drive home
@@fudhater8592 hahaha exactly... a half decent pair of pants with some good pockets should be the 3rd or 4th thing a new snowboarder buys... happy riding guys. Much love
Idk about anyone else I check my pockets like 3 times a run. Literally my nightmare hahahaha
This is really good stuff. Thank you. I'm 65 years old, and I'm loving snowboarding. I'm starting slow, and getting training, but I can tell you this is a blast. Thanks for the great information.
amazing!
you are an inspiration for me!
Good on you man
You are an inspiration and role model! I’m 53 and just got a taste of it 2 weeks ago and loved it (even though I fell countless times and now recovering from a twisted knee from avoiding clashing into a little kid wandering across the slopes).
Can’t wait to get back.
The annual beginner snowboarding tips video only means that the season is right around the corner LFG!!! These tips are CLUTCH I'm telling y'all these tips are so good that I've picked some of them up subconsciously throughout my years just because they made sense! Half of these tips I do multiple times on a trip. Great vid TJ!!
Went 2 weeks ago🤙🏽
@@dontragequit1177 haha nice man!! My local mountains are opening up within the week 😈
@@spooky066 bro I'm so fucking excited, I waited an entire year since I only got to board up one time last season, so I'm going Sunday with my roomate, I'm so ready!!
@@johnpaul531 here’s to many more trips this season bro!!
@@johnpaul531 do you want to know something so amazing that is free Jesus offers you His Righteousness as a gift for free! He will wash you completely Clean from ALL your sins and wants you to Come to him it says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Meaning the punishment for our sins is Hell Because we are not obedient to God. But Jesus was completely obedient to God He went to the cross to die for us and now we do not trust in our obedience but His it says, “Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault.” Gods wrath and Judgment went on Jesus Because He was carrying our sins so God treated Him like the worst sinner now God will Justly treat you like you have never sinned after you believe upon Him so when the blood of Jesus is over you God cannot treat you like a sinner! He never wants to but now He can Justly treat you like you never sinned Jesus was our sacrifice for our sins!
Tell God you admit your a sinner and ask Him to wash you with His blood and receive His Gift of righteousness. Come out of darkness and into light!
it’s your part to receive Jesus to believe upon Him. It says,
“Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.”
Don’t think it’s not wrong to sin
-because He loves us.
Pocket check really hits my soul. I lost my car keys on mountain once and it really sucks. Luckily they we’re handed in to guest services an hour after i started retracing my steps.
I lost my wallet once, someone ended up returning it but definitely a terrible feeling
I've been watching TJ for years now and everything he says has been so helpful! been developing my snowboards for years now and your videos has helped me a lot to get to the level I can shred some sick slopes. Super friendly and helpful guy in person too. Glad we met in whistler. next time It'll be sick to ride with you in NZ sometime.
I'm a vet but I've always had stomp in bindings. Just bought new bindings with a back and you saved me hundreds of dollars for not crushing my brand new bindings. Plus some extra tips that I hadn't heard before. Thanks for the video!!
Good list. I do most of those with the exception of 2. The beaver tail slap and digging your Heel edge in facing uphill. I'll be trying them next time I'm on the slopes. You should make a video on duck/penguin walking.
Gotta say, not only for beginners but great tips for returners as well! Thank you for taking the time to make this video :)
ive been riding for 15ish years, always gotta watch these to keep the mind fresh
Yewww
I've been snowboarding a few years now and never knew about the goggle trick. Thanks!
Love to hear that!
Me too i thought there was a defect in my goggles lol
I Never had a those problem, by putting my Google on my helmet or head. Had more problems breathing in heat inside my Googles. Then it gets fogy, specially really cold days.
@@TheRaydee This is actually more in line with my issue...it's the breathing
Great video. I’m a beginner snowboarder but I’ve been skiing for 30 years and literally never tried the goggle trick. Gotta lock that one in 👌🏻
Great tips TJ, this is going to help a lot of people have a better first time out on the mountain
Great tips, especially the one about putting some pressure on heel or toe edge when on flat parts. Just broke my wrist on my 2nd day because I landed on it after catching an edge on a flat part
Great tips, thanks for sharing TJ! 40+ year old second season rider and I wish I would have known about these tips during my first season. 🤟
Great video!! These are amazing tips that get overlooked a lot! Gives a great overall riding experience.
Digging in your heel edge when your stopped toe side on an incline blew my mind. Thanks for the tip!
Just learned to snowboard last weekend and the pockets check is something I could've used, seeing as my phone got a screenfull of snow. Definitely coming back to your channel TJ!
Nice job. Been riding for 30 years. I do a lot of these subconsciously these days and forget that new riders sometimes miss the little things to make riding easier.
Ive been snowboarding for 20 years and never thought of using the heel cup as a resting point! Thanks for the tip
Thanks for the tips because I’m going snowboarding for my first time on Saturday I’m so excited and I think those will help me practice so thanks!😊
Great tips shredder. Pocket check is top of the list for me! Been snowboarding a long time and I have always pushed skate style with my back foot. Just can't make the switch to pushing on back side of board. I can push really well/fast...UNTIL I get tired, then the skate push starts to get sloppy, like I'm drunk. 🤪
Can't wait to go for my first lesson thank you so much!! And thank you comments for being so welcoming!!
Great tips! Been snowboarding for 15yrs and I picked up a few. Well done..
Was expecting to know all of these tips now I feel like such an amateur lol never worried about putting my binding down and always struggle to balance stopping to talk with friends. Great video.
I've been riding for years and learned a new trick or two. Heel edge dig when stopped and the cross leg chair lift trick. I'll try them on My Tremblant tomorrow. Good video not the usual repetitive tips and few tips for making it an easy day when relaxed riding thanks man.
About to go for my first time next weekend and this was very helpful! Thank you
The snowboard edge grabbing and the fogged goggles tips are new to me! Thank you!
Thank you, I have just had my level 2 lesson today and these tips were really helpful
Thanks for the tips!! Looking forward to the progress throuought the year!
Awesome help man. Thanks for simplify it and not talking about unnecessary info or dragging the convos out
Great refresher for someone thats hasnt been out for a little over 10 years. thanks!!!
Super helpful tips! Some I didn't even think about. Definitely appreciate it 🙏🏻
This video was awesome! I just started snowboarding last season and these tips are really going to help me. Im excited to try out the goggle defog trick.😂
Thanks for the tips I'm from Mississippi and I went to Colorado for a week and snowboarding was very difficult, especially the catching edge part. This helped a lot
Great tips! I'm going to take my kids snowboarding for the first time in a couple weeks and will mention all of these things.
Another thing that helps on flat cat tracks is gently pushing your knees together to give a slight bend in the board.
I do every single one of these. I’ve passed this video on to some friends. I hope they pick up all of these tips I’m always handing out
Probably one of the most informative videos I’ve ever seen. Awesome job man!
Thanks for the tips mate! Excited to go on my first-ever snowboarding trip.
THIS VIDEO IS EVERYTHING I WISH AND I NEEDED TO KNOW SO THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THESE VERY LEGITIMATE TIPS AND TRICKS
Great video bro, I've been snowboarding for 9 years and i totally agree with all you said, nice trick for the foggy goggles
awesome man, always wanted to get tips from you. Hope you can continue to share more!
ive been snowboarding for years but never heard of the goggle fogging trick, love this!
Thanks for the video TJ. This type of content is really helpful 👍
I have been skiing since i was 4 years old, and now im gonna take up snowboarding this winter! thanks for this.
So helpful- especially since it's pre season!!
Thanks for great vid,
I’ve been Snowboarding for 30 years and have picked up new advice.
Great video, have time on my board just learning new things is always good!
going off of number 2, I always lock in my binding straps when going up the lift. I have had the binding straps pulled under the board when getting off or skating. I have also had the binding straps rotate, which some binding straps unscrew and detach by twisting them around a few times.
Great stuff. I've been snowboarding for many years and learned a thing or two. Thanks!
Love to hear that!
I always knew we'd get along... These tips prove it!
Oh yes, She doin it ! Thanks for takin us along x
2021 is my second year snowboarding. I'm good enough to go on my own. I've still learned a few things from this video
Nice board. I ordered the same one a few weeks back. Haven’t rode it yet, but jumped onto some practice jibs down in the basement with it. I’m pretty excited to get it out and rip it up.
Thank you so much for your tips I am going snowboarding in a week for the first time and I needed some advice. You earned my sub😃
Man i wish i had this video 4 years ago when I went snowboarding for the first time. Great advise and tips.
This is so great! I learned new tips too and definitely shared with a rad newbie
All absolutely critical tips most of which took me over a year or two of Snowboarding to learn by myself... this videos will be a game changer for all of you beginners out there.
And that one about digging in the heel edge when facing uphill just blee my mind.
I've had my first day on snow last weekend and after that I'm watching all these begginer tips and I'm so excited for snowboarding again. 😀
@@pitchus thats awesome get out there and enjoy it's so fun!
Perfect video i learned some things and glad you talked about catching an edge
That trick for defogging goggles - definitely going to be giving that one a shot this season. Seems like my Anon M4s fog up if you look at them the wrong way. Thanks for the solid list man, for sure going to be sending this to some friends who are getting into snowboarding this year! Great work on the vid as always!
60% of the time it works every time haha. Thanks man!
I’ve never fogged my lenses ever. Except for when you walk indoors, but that doesn’t count. I guess I never take mine off when outside though. No reason to.
@@BoardArchive are we talking goggles or cologne here?
@@christophergruenwald5054 yeah the only time mine ever really fog is when I wear goggles during a hike session or hiking into a new zone. I have put them on my forehead before tho and that will 100% make them fog if it’s cold out
@@plead_da_fif-420 sucks to hear what?
I have zero friends that snowboard so this channel is helping me out so much! Thanks!!
I was at Keystone yesterday and it’s my second time ever snowboarding and I am a blue square and am getting VERY close to black diamonds as a snowboarder and I like the good tips and you should always keep doing 45’s to both sides front and back.
Thank you for making this video. I definitely learned a few new things.
Great tips.
Thankyou
Damn, been boarding 27 years and this is the first I’m hearing of the healcup rest on the lift! Thanks!
Thnxs Bro, solid advice! Wish I'd have know these basics earlier😂
For the chairlift: put the back down and then connect the front strap very loosely so you can slide in after getting on the lift . It is the most comfortable way to ride the lift by far and still protects the back.
Great tips! At least two of these are new to me and I'm glad to have learned them.
Three tips I give anyone who is about to start:
1) buy butt pads, wrist guards, and spine armor. Your bones will thank you.
2) Pay for the lessons. Your friends won't have the patience. Learn from the people who get paid to be on the bunny hill with you all day if necessary. And do all three days in a row. Yes it sucks, but you're going to be glad you did.
3) spend the next two days on cat tracks. The slower speeds will help you learn to avoid edges, which you will catch, but will hurt less. And your s-turns will get better at slow speeds as well.
Thank you so much for this video 🙏🏻
that tip of pressing your backfoot against the binding, or moving it all the way forward is indeed useful.
about the highback, i have Flow bindings, where the highback folds backwards.
For strapping in.. i just start of where it is not too steep if there's no flat spot, slide my backfoot in, and lift the highback in position.. works like a charm.(the same basically goes for step-in bindings (though these are not common))
When i stop on a hill, indeed i always stop facing up, but then i just drop to my knees.. easy enough to get going again..
AHHH YES! This means the season is just about here💯🔥
Also solid tip on the goggles def gotta remember that one thanks!
As a board instructor, I approve of this vid. Good work!
Thanks for this love the illustration.
I never knew that goggle fog trick! Thats awesome!
What was my first time snowboarding?
Standing on the board for the first time and then just going down ~55° slope. Was fun.
Starting at 30, thank you for the post
its was one of the best clips what i ever seen
One of the best warm-ups I found once I got my comfortable doing, one foot small mellow runs. It takes a bit of practice to do but once you get it down, i usually do a couple one foot runs at start of day. I got wide feet and would always have sore feet after couple runs because of binding fatigue. So I decided to learn how to one foot like 2012 Scott stevens and it oddly helped my feet from getting sore. It actually helped so much, I felt way more comfortable on my snowboard.
One foot riding is an excellent skill to get comfortable with and can really save your bacon if you ever have any serious binding issues at the top or mid-run.
Hey Red, I'm going to Red mtn today (in Rossland BC Canada)...can u elaborate on one foot riding?
Thanks for the tips
Thanks a bunch for this! Every time you mentioned something that seemed so obvious, but isn't...I went "Oh yeah!" Awesome. I'll have to try these out next time
new to snowboarding ... this was useful - thanks
Right ons bro!!! Great tips!!!
Amazing tips, thanks mate!!
This is a few nice reminders for me as I prepare for my first snowboarding in two and a half years. Queenstown see you in July! Keep up the great content TJ
Wonderful beginner tips, thank you!
Thank you! Thank you and Thank you!!!
The 'beaver slap', one of my personal favourites ;)
Good tips! A little late to this but for some reason it popped up on my feed in the middle of the summer :D One thing I do to get rid of ice buildup in the binding, if I'm riding with skiers, I borrow a pole and use the bottom end to get it out while we're in queue for lifts
Man this helped me a lot, Thank you.
Worked great on about 6"-8" of average snow starts to struggle a bit past 8". czcams.com/users/postUgkxoHYZbq5g9fkcAtinlTqstNlje-UQkCHN Very light weight and the chute spin control works well. For the low price you get a ton of value. My only complaint is managing the cord as it does take a fair bit of effort to watch and pull the cord out of the way. I found myself having to whip the cord out of the way a lot when I needed to make one way passes to mange the blow direction. It's less of an issue when you can work both directions. A battery powered version would be a lot easier to handle but that is also double the price and requires battery care. I chose the corded version so I didn't have to worry about batteries but I do now see how much work the cord is. I let my neighbor borrow it and it outperformed his smaller gas blower, he was totally sold. Very pleased with the power and operations. My only suggestion is to spend a bit more on a cordless version if you have budget for it. The cord is a bit more of a headache than I thought it would be. Very pleased with the Snow Joe brand and quality.
I have been boarding for 30 years and I learn something from your vetoes every time. Thank you Sir 😊
love to hear that, thank you!
learned a lot from this video~! thanks for the tips!
So excited for the ski season!!!!
same!
Thanks, what an awesome looking ski field. Miss N America.
Simple but very helpful 👊
this is great advice, thank you
I an expert snowboarder and the goggle tip is clutch man! Never thought of that.
Cheers! I'm goint to try to remember all of these when I will go try snowboarding for the first time wednesday :)
