This is a summary video on L-Carnitine.
What is L-Carnitine?
It’s an amino acid that transports fat into the mitochondria. The mitochondria is the energy factory in all of your cells. L-Carnitine also handles some of the waste that’s generated from the fat that’s being oxidized.
What is L-Carnitine used for?
• Weight loss
• Endurance
• Increased energy
• Better recovery
But, L-Carnitine is not just for athletes or people who want to lose weight.
The best way to use L-Carnitine is actually for your cardiovascular health. Essentially the heart loves fatty acids. It needs L-Carnitine to transport fatty acids into the machinery to burn for its energy. L-Carnitine and COQ10 together are really fantastic for cardiovascular health.

Something in addition, A total of 5 studies were included for the meta-analysis. The result showed L-carnitine was useful in the treatment of insulin resistance

Dear Dr, this is my favourite channel ever, love your content, you are a breath of fresh air in this crazy world, thank you.
Your in-depth explanation on you videos is so appreciated...thanks Dr Berg.
I have been waiting for this! I wish you discussed when and how to supplement L carnatine , and dosage
Thank you for this short, informative and to the point lesson. Much appreciated!!
You have changed my life in watching and leaning your videos, ( I'm grateful ) 🙏❤️ Thank you
Thanks very much Dr Berg for another brilliant video. I just love learning about the internal parts of our human bodies IE mitochondria ect and how to look after it. The education is second to none. Much love 🙏🏻😊
L-Carnitine is synthesized from essential amino acids L-Lysine ; L-Methionine. It requires cofactors - active B6, B3, vit C and iron.
I just take an essential amino acid complex (that has both lysine & methionine) & pair that with a B6/B-Complex + vit C.
Methionine has been shown to reduce life expectancy in mice
@toaalta And we are Not mice ! 😅🤣
Thank you, Dr. Berg! I first heard of L-Carnitine as a weight loss aid, which I didn't need. At age 49 I had a heart attack. I didn't know it (no pain) and waited 5 days before seeking answers for my lack of breath with even minor exertion. I was told that the back side of my heart was dead due to the delay. I'm very grateful that you explained in such great detail exactly why I need this! I'm now 65 years old and will definitely be taking this supplement! You've been such a blessing to me and so many others here!! May you and your loved ones be blessed, as well!!
Carrdiologist Dr. Stephen Sinata recommends four supplements for CHF: L-carnitine CoQ10, Magnesium and D-ribose. Look him up.
Don't take carnitine if you you've had a heart attack, if will only lead to another. You need CoQ10, this is a direct nutrient/supplement thats needed for heart repair and heart health. Studies have even showed that most people who have heart attacks are low in CoQ10.
Add magnesium coq10 vit e ,c and d ribose
They are awesome force
Beware of L carnitine. Too much of it will cause your system to produce more TMAO, which contributes to further worsening of heart issues.
Very informative as usual, thanks dr. Berg!
Wow thanks! We have been taking your Keto Amino Acids and feel great! We love all your products the quality is perfect

Thank you, Dr. Berg, for all your super helpful and beneficial videos!
Wow! Thank you so much for that.
I've been watching your videos for some time now and although I have been a personal trainer for over 30 years I am always in to learn new things about the human body. I always say we are the simplest machine and the most complex machine all in one. Thanks
I saw someone online claiming to have impressive results and because I’m skeptic of info online to avoid fads I just had to see if you had a video on this topic. Now I’m a believer it works because you’ve helped me so much with a better lifestyle. 💯

I take Coq10 daily but was ambivalent about Lcarn because I had no clue of its overall benefits or who should be using it. Heading to the VitaminShoppe first thing tomorrow. Thank you Doc!!🐾
WHICH one you prefer, coq10 or carnitine ?
@@karine8738 Definitely LCarn
Dr. B., fabulous video. Thank you so much.
Thank you for this video very useful information. God Bless You Sir :)
I started taking this when I was diagnosed with T2 as I read a study that said that it was beneficial for diabetics and that a study showed marked improvement after taking it. Good to know it has other benefits
Interesting. I'm also T2 but I've gone in the opposite direction. I stumbled onto L-Carnitine only after I had gotten my blood glucose down to safe levels and found out about it because I'm doing more weight training and was looking for good endurance/recovery supplements. Good to know it may be beneficial for non-workout-related things.
Thank you doc for being an amazing teacher to is regular people.
Another great vid. Short, sweet and to the point. Ok, maybe not sweet.
i add it in my preworkout thanks for the content
Dr. Berg is a real superman, thank you so much.
all love from Saudi Arabia
Dr berg please make a video about L arginine too. Btw love your content. Very informative
I used L-carnitine once and I did notice increased performance, but I wasn't sure what benefits it have so I stopped. Now after watching this video I think I am going start it again. Thanks for the video
Increased performance is a benefit that you noticed 🙄
bro its increase performance dramatically + its not magic, you have to consume constantly in order to see fat loss
Hello Doc. I’m just wondering how does L-Carnitine pair with a ketogenic diet?
Thanks as always for the great videos.
Hi, what is the best daily dosage of L-Carnitine. Thanks for your videos
Does Acetyl-L-Carnitine & Carnitine have the same effect ?
I do not know if anyone also experienced this while taking L Carnitine. L Carnitines makes me sweat like a ran a full marathon... I mean like loads.
try l tartrate
because your metabolism is higher, youre mitochondria are working more, you produce more energy/more body heat, so you sweat more
I don't know what else to say to you, Dr. Berg.. YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY AWESOME.!! Thank you, thank you, thank you..!!!!🙏🙏
Indeed ...been a big fan of you for so many years
I like the way you get right to the point Thankyou
Hey Dr Burg! 1 question; can you take too much? How would you know if you should be supplementing this? Thank you for another amazing video!
Asalamualaikum Dr. Berg. Your knowledge is amazing🙂 I have learned soooo much from you.
Great video, thank you Doc
Thank you so much ❤️ doctor.
Great video, I have heart problems, so glad you explained this. Thanks Dr B!
How did it worked for you? I was diagnosed with brugada Patterns of the heart
@@southerncalifornia3155 It worked great and increased my energy. Dr B is right.
I take a proteolitic enzymes everyday (in my 60s) to help with the digestion of proteins in my diet and to help with inflammation. Being on keto for this last year changed my diet considerably and aging also seems to increase this need. But I WIL consider adding these 2 heart healthy nutrients too. THX Dr. Berg...you rock!! 🎸
Is there a particular brand you’ve found that you trust?
How much L-Carnitine is recommended ? Dosage ?
Thank you Dr Berg. Your videos are amazing and helps me to help my clients in my holistic healing practice.
Awesome simple & to the point Thanx!
I took it for years (when on my 20’s) when I was training a lot!. I completly forgot about it. Maybe I can add it on my ketodiet? 🤔
Wow!!! This is great info Thank you dr.berg..will start my husband on tnis for his heart.♥️
Ubiquinol is the already converted form of CoQ10- therefore you don't lose any in conversion before your body can use it.
Very helpful and able to understand, take it every day. Acetyl L-Carnitine 500mg. Helps Memory and Mental well-being.
May I ask which brand of L Carnitine are you taking? Appreciate it 🙏
@@moniryousefian8782 Acetyl L-Carnitine,500mg.

They, H.E.B. have 2 kinds, one for the heart and the other for memory and well-Being.
You are the best!!!! You cover everything
It is sad he is meant to have more subscribers I gues if people knew about him he would prob be one of the most popular you tubers.
His videos are so educational no need to search Google for answers. He is the man
Lol he has over 4 million subscribers
Hi Dr. Berg.. what about L Arginine? I tend to be confused with the both of them, with regards to their benefits and uses. Can you do a video on L Arginine too?
They are like opposite sides of the same coin.
Both benficial.
If you supplement, you take them at separate times (or they will sort of cancel eachother out).
But best to learn as much as possible before taking either one, as sometimes pre-existing health conditions (especially ones you may be unaware you have), can cause you more harm than good.
Also, always stae=rt with the lowest amount first (as in less than what the label suggests), before taking the full amount of these particular supplements.
Is there a general recommendation on how much to add supplement wise of the L-Carnitine to the diet? Any adjustments based on conditions? Thanks!
Dr Berg, could you kindly suggest whoch L Cartinine supplements are primarily recomended by you....i lack the trust in any shelf product
Beef, Pork, Chicken, Cod provide L-Carnitine
Just like paracetamol at the store, any brand will do as it's literally a chemical substance that can't be altered. The only difference is the label & the price. Buy smart.
Even before taking major supplements, but just regular vitamins and minerals, I noticed Carnitine has a special, even the strongest effect in recovery.
BFKC been on it for almost 3 months and I've noticed it tends to keep one leaner easier and tends to improve body composition as well
and also creatine monohydrate
@@warlockzero501 monohydrate gives me belly ache, I spend the same amount (~$0.11 per gram, same as bargain basement monohydrate) on a creatine hcl + creatine anhydrous 50/50 mix (2.5g per day, sometimes 5g), and it settles much better and doesn't give me chalky mouth and such.
monohydrate just makes me unhappy lol it's not terrible
@@Lucas_Jeffrey Try kre alkalyn it works great with up to 3 grams daily. It has a more stable ph and therefore it is easily absorbed.
How funny this 😁 I was gonna ask dr berg if he can talk about l carnitine and look how things works thanks dr berg
Exactly!! It's scary sometimes how the heck he reads the mind! I literally was thinking about it 5 hrs ago! And here he is out with a video.. He is magician I say..
