I love his little ritual just before he starts playing. I may be prejudiced, but I love absolutely everything he does. It is strange, but even though I am 66 years old and I have never met him and do not know him except for what I hear and see on his many videos, (of which I have a 65 vid playlist) I am so in love who he is. He is an extraordinary being in my opinion!

I've noticed the past 3 months I've been listening to him. There are people your age that are obsessed with him. You're not the only one I'm 39, and I've noticed on reading everybody's comments. People your age of love him. And my age also.
I don't understand why Nahko isn't more popular.. his music is beautiful, I recently found him and I'm obsessed!:)
I'm a huge activist for food co-ops, Greenpeace, and Oxfam, and love sweatlodges, but that's not a perspective promoted by the corporate-consumer culture. Jack Johnson, though, is a good example, on the other hand. JJ hides a few things that can't be said, and rhymes a lot. And he was found by that guy whose name I'm forgetting. So, give him time....

Isnala'Nazin'Win Merchant-Ponds "do you know what mitakuwe oyasin means .. or Wakan Tanka " No I don't and maybe I would never hear those words in my life, if Nahko never said them. I am grateful to be introduced to something new. My bf is nepalese, I don't understand his language, but it's beautiful and if I listen to it enough I may learn a few words. A good way to start learning about a new culture or language is submersion (music, media, new friends), but everyone first needs an introduction.

Frankly, I do have an idea about Wakan Tanka, something about the Divine Spirit of the Universe. But more importantly, most of his song is in English and it is aligned very excellently against huge hostile powers and for healthy constructive culture. If you want to improve understanding of your language, by Nahko or anybody else, you need to simply share in a positive way. In the big picture, do you know how important social justice activism and building that culture is?

lol! this is soo cool!! from way before Nahko and Medicine for the People blew up!!! I seen them in Ohio this summer and yeah of course Ive been so in love with their message! I was suppperr bummed he didnt play black as night and so were a lot of others but hey anywho- Nahko and MFTP have helped me out so much the past few months. Every song has meaning and significance in my life and it helps break down the walls we all wrestle with from day to day- its convicting in your spirit. This is one of my favorite songs that I come back too often... so short but so simple! lol and in regards to Nahko and the angst against his true heritage or whatnot, I dunno, cause im not of Native American descent so it might be different if I was, but the way I see it, is that his music has a social conscious message to it, that fully reveres and respects everything that has been done and is empowering those to continue to fight so it still wont happen, look at the Dakota Access Pipeline, I've been very outspoken about it and I dont think I would be as much if I wasnt so aware of Nahkos message and music. ...

Mitakuye oyas’in. It’s Lakota, and has different translations. “All my relations” and “we are all related” together sum it up best, I feel. The two-leggeds, the four-leggeds, and the winged people.. we are all related, we are all the children of Mother Nature and Wakaŋ Taŋka, The Great Spirit and The Great Mystery.

I do use my own language, I am American and as it stands, English words are actually derived from every different culture that exists. Please realize that we are all of the Spirit. Your hatred does nothing for the Circle of Life, if anything, it hurts it. I understand your fury. I, too, am still angered by the way Natives have been treated. But instead of hatred, please show Love or look at things from a different angle. Or at least try. And no, I am not Lakota. However, I do have Cherokee blood in me and I have both Lakota and Cherokee elders. You have to let go of the pain from the past to move forward fearlessly for your people and for the World.
