  • Today at Ugly Truck, we're bringing you BY FAR our most requested video! We discuss different pedal options, and start by making an adapter plate to mount the pedal to the firewall using the original accelerator pedal mounting holes. Next, we cut and reattach the pedal to move it over and give it some adjustment, and weld it up. We also discuss how to run the wire harness to the throttle control module for a drive by wire system.

    Jerry, you have guts holding the sheet metal while drilling it. I've had too many bad experiences doing that so I prefer using a vice to hold my work. You've definitely done that a few times and I pray your luck holds out. Great engineering on the fly though. Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge.

      Thanks Randy. Holding it with a vice or a clamp would definitely be the smart way to do that. It would cut down on the number of band-aids that I go through for sure.

      In the last video, Jerry talks about the Corvette filter/regulators. We tried them and didn't have good luck, but I know a lot of people swear by them. Maybe we just got a defective one, but a fuel leak spraying onto the exhaust of a customer's truck was enough for us to go another route. Hope this helps you out, and thanks for watching! 👍 --Emily

    What are the advantages of using DBW over DBC? It seems like using DBC would be the easier option. I guess it's dependent on what type of throttle body your donor engine has?

    • @UglyTruckExperience
      @UglyTruckExperience  Před rokem

      The.drive by wire engines idle better and also have quicker throttle response. They are easier to incorporate cruise control also. Probably the biggest reason they are being use so much is because there are so many of them. Thanks

    Question why not just weld original pedal to the drive by wire on a custom hinge so its exactly where it's supposed to be and still have original pedal look ? Personally I think it would be only semi challenging to disassemble and make a new pedal lever that uses old pedal parts. I like the look of some of the older pedals vs new.

    • @UglyTruckExperience
      @UglyTruckExperience  Před rokem

      A person could do that as long as you have a welder. We try to show a solution that helps a larger majority of people. In this case you could do all of the work, get the pedal sitting where you like and run it to a shop and have it welded solid. We have done that with the original pedal. Same work just ends up looking different. Thanks WSK

      @@UglyTruckExperience I'm buying my first parts car for the engine and transmission it's a 2004 dohc 5.4 4v Lincoln navigator that have PCM issues early into the vehicles life but beyond warranty. I currently have 2003 Tahoe 4.8l and 2004 Ford expedition with 5.4l 2v sohc. My plan is to use heads etc from DOHC and order a m122 a supercharger load pcm tune of 2007 Shelby mustang gt500. Since engine is same 5.4 dohc as navigator tune should work. Ford made a SVT Thunder which was a supercharged 5.4l dohc expedition but only made one in generation before 2003 would be nifty to make my own version of that rare vehicle.
