Hey, I don't know how you feel about mods, but buy some micro powerful magnets from hobby lobby, they are real tiny and super strong. Use those in place of the pegs. Just have to have a strong glue. Replace the pegs with the magnets. There are other ways to mount the magnets as well. Also, paint them white first. I did this with Yamato's version. I drilled tiny holes and glued the white painted magnets into the arms and backpack.
Also, even if a fan of perfect transformation, the detaching swing bar makes sense. I could see that having been possible the actual process in the show.
Mine was an expensive one. I still bought it despite wanting the movie version whenever that comes out. I was too worried to miss the next release. So I just went with this version while also tracking down the super strike add on.
@@drewwilliams9332 how will the movie version of this figure differ? Will it have the same paint scheme? Or would it be another red/black? I am not familiar with the movie...
@@wingertm There will be a slight difference in head sculpt as well as a few minor paint details. The separate Super Strike parts differ more greatly.
One thing , I’m 50 years old I used to watch the show back in the 80s and I loved it and as a 50 year old living in the future what I don’t understand is why would Bandai the company that owns the rights to this allow the secondary market to make a huge profit off of their item , why doesn’t Bandai just make more ?! it’s obvious that there’s a high demand for it , do these big companies just not like making money somebody please explain…! It seems cut and dry that if it’s this popular the obvious solution is to make more Bandai should be the only ones making money off of this being that it’s a brand new product

I've got this guy under the Christmas tree. My collection is (pretty much) complete. Got Rick and his red/white, Max with his blue and now this iconic Roy Fokker.
Poor Ben might have been nice - the mass produced Brown, even the orange might have been nice.
But I now have 3 of these and I am pretty damn happy. The 10 year inside me feels like this has put to rest 30 odd years of desire for this toy

Luckily i had a friend in japan who happened to go out the morning of release for a new release Gundam kit. He saw it and snagged it for me. True chad energy.

VF-1S looks soooo good..... I was finally going to buy this guy then I saw VF-1D right next to it, without much thinking I purchased VF-1D (well it had fan racer)
then few month later, I saw it's price sky rocket. it looked like I made right decision. now I am saving for VF-1S "again"

Mine arrived on Dec. 7th... Beautiful.... Yup, see some on ebay and stores in japan for about $300 usd... add shipping and its $350+.
Pre-Order night was a brutal! Got lucky though. Gotta install those cavity filler on mine. Great Review! Reminded me of a couple of features on the DX.

I am a fan of Macross being so long time, and still can't decide which is my favourite plane ... Hikaru's Red or Roy's yellow. oh good grief!
Personally I love the standard beige VF.
The masterpiece versions are nice and fun
I haven't seen anyone mention anywhere that the regular stand arm(the one that comes with all DX toys) is reinforced from the previous versions. As far as I can tell it's the same sturdier version that came with the armour parts for Arad's VF-31, it has the same notches for the clear plastic supports that hold up the additional parts. I wonder if this will be the standard arm going forward, or maybe it's to support a future GBP release?
I've got the Yamato VF-OS 1/60 from years ago,I love it. It didn't come with a stand( where can I get one?), which is unfortunate. You've got me interested again...thanx!
I had one of the solid metal ones they made back in the early 80s, I think. I still have it in storage but it was well-played with and might be missing a part or two.

How do you guys keep updated about these kinds of new releases?. I always end up finding about them much later :-(
Keeping up with this line is expensive but fun as hell. Next release is 12/24/2020. I think the VF-1D is gonna go as quick... IDK it has always been my fav along with Kakazaki (tv version) and Cannon Fodder models. I anticipate another 5 models after this next; VF-1J Max and Millia, VF-1A general use, Elintseeker and Ostrich, what you think @anymoon?
I would go insane if this toy came out in Max and Miriya's VF-1Js. Did I say insane? I meant broke. I would go broke. This toy is amazing.
I'd really like to swing for this but my Hikaru VF-1S broke the first time I had it out of the box and I had to cement the entire hip splay assembly back together and lock it up and that was AFTER drilling it to replace the screw that stripped out. Not new to DX Chogokin or macross toys either. I ended up cementing the other joint to match it up but I had to re paint the joint after I drilled it and refinish and sand the plain plastic intake sections and the screw covers. It was a lot of work for a very expensive toy. This is a large part of why I have been leaving the hobby behind as over the years the cost of repairs and upkeep does not make sense. Gorgeous pieces but it's a lot of faith and money to put in a product where you get no after sales support outside of Japan, if even. It's almost like buying an apple product. If something happens to it, buy a new one. At the very least you can say these are better built than the gundam metal builds.

Hi. May I ask for your assistance, on how do I detach the stand from the battroid display? I went to your site, and U posted a picture of a cracked stand.
Anyone here with this mold or particularly this version have their Diecast foot stuck? Like on mine the right side the foot slides out w/o any issues but the left is getting jammed up on something and takes excessive force to pull out which isn't a great feeling. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.

man...im acidently find this channel.i used to played this Roy fockey VF-1s my uncle haved in 90`(im 12 y`old at tht time and he 3 y older then me) when i stay at his home for a week or 2.may i ask?is this model made fully steel?my uncle one got tht`cool`feeling when i touch it.feel more accurate in every way i see and tht window or`nose goes`in`the body when tranform...then the steel`skull cover`moving down from top of the window.i was in awe at tht time.2 week when like a blink.can i buy tht kind`memories`today?

@ScorchedEarthToys My DX VF-1S arrived today! ... OMG, as my first one since childhood, this is an absolute ripper! Appreciate it might not have been a revolution, and even a small evolution from the yamato/arcadia toys ... but it pretty is bloody good! The paint and color is so good,, perfect shads ansd not to over the top IMHO. I ended up with a great deal from a Japanese ebay seller.
I also ordered the strike and super parts (just so I have all the missile options and the correct jolly roger color for Roy). I'm not sure why they bundled with the extra stand (pretty lackluster really), why not the missiles? Would be great if there is a GBP release (where do they list coming releases?)

Is this the best possibly Valkyrie to get? I keep looking at the KitzConcept ones but just indecisive since there are several options. The rubber tires on this one is a big selling point to me.
Get the DX... I did not like the kitzconcept VF-1S. It did not transform easily and felt like parts could easily break if not handled gently. The articulation on this DX is sooooooo much better.
KitzConcept made lots of improvements for their VF-1J release... their 1S Fokker toy was a learning experience. Even so, the DX toy is a bigger, more polished product. If money is no object, it's the easy winner. The question of better value is very tricky, especially given the aftermarket prices on these DX toys.

As a weird question, do you think these figures would be alright to use for stop-motion?
I've never done stop-motion so I don't know what makes a toy good for that. The joints are stiff enough to hold their position so I think they would work...

Yes both the TV series super parts set and the Movie version strike parts set are interchangeable for all the releases this far. The missle sets work for them all as well.

VF-1D goes on preorder through the Tamashii Website (for Japanese residents only) in about 9 hours. I'll buy one and review it after release. If you have a friend in Japan, now's a good time to call them!

@@angelpelcastre3328 try googling dx VF-1 and then go to the stores that sold the last release. They won't all carry this one but some will and have randomly been opening preorders. BBTS won't have it. Ebay will... Toy is about $230 before shipping so that will let you figure out the mark up.

The leg bar connection to the locking area is not stable on my toy.... it either comes undone or it rocks back and forth in while in battroid mode. .... really disappointed. With the high price tag, I expected this not to happen.
Mine is exactly like that too. Does the right arm on yours when you slide it, snap and lock on ? Mine is loose and doesn’t lock and stay on.
Now this is cool but I'm still waiting for a DX VF-0S in the Focker colors.

It's not perfectly centered over the bones in the original design.
I would like the eyes of the skull to be perfectly centered and I would not say they are... but it's close enough where I have to look for it.

They haven't had a regular release of a VF-1 for a while so they're sold out everywhere. I definitely recommend the DX toy over the KitzConcept toy but the KitzConcept is cheaper and easier to find.

I have an original one of these from the 90s good condition no bullets in gun lost them still have gun and figure no box if anyones interested let me know... this ones a lot more improved but the original is nice still good condition
The only thing I hate is how they are nickle and diming this..... TV missiles in this pack, movie other missiles in that pack, strike parts in this pack. Everything hard to find and prices jacked up.....
I think it would be cool to buy one of these figures and disassemble it and make a silicon rubber mold of each component for the purpose of making wax castings that can be used in the "lost wax" casting method of reproducing each part using molten aluminum or brass or bronze. Imagine the identical figure except instead of plastic it's made of metal.

The prices on ebay are insane. These are just hunks of plastic. And the design is old as shit. Why is it so expensive? No competition.

@@drewlovelyhell4892 Yeah then you add in scalpers and it sends the prices up to the moon. This is why I quit a few years ago. Don't have the patience to hunt that hard for it. The upside is that when you finally DO get one you feel special owning something others can't obtain easily.

Somebody needs to design the swing wings with interlocking hinges that connect together inside the rear fuselage, so that they sweep simultaneously. I had this feature in my old GI Joe Skystriker and even in my old 1/72 F-14 model from the '80s.

Metal is in the feet for balance and joints for longevity, everything else is plastic.

Hi, I'm considering tracking down this and the Bandai DX Hikaru armored VF-1J on the secondary market and of course it's expensive. That's what I get for being late, lol.
Does it make sense to bite the bullet or wait for a possible reissue, what's the likelihood of that ever happening? As much as I'd like to get these, it'd kill me if these were reissued at MSRP in a year or two. Thanks!

It looks so similar to the American Hasbro G1 Transformer Jetfire of the 1980's. The imitation suggests a patent infringement or a genuine contract agreement between Bandai and Hasbro. It deserves an investigation on part of Hasbro. The geometrical similarity is that close.
In the 80s Hasbro was desperate to add to the Transformers line so they licensed toys from other shows that aired only in Japan. Jetfire is a repaint of the 1/55 VF-1 from Macross (Jetfire sold in 85, the VF-1 sold 83-84). Macross went on to have more shows and movies so there are more VF-1 toys. Hasbro went with a new look and character (Skyfire) to detangle things.

@@Castor2552 Cannot entirely blame HG, as it's Tatsunoko who holds the international rights and they've had a long standing relationship with HG.
If Big West had foresight back in 1984, and if they knew how big Macross would be almost 40 years later, trust me, it would be a VERY different story for Macross fans today.
@@andellmatthewtan7557 HG holds all the rights outside of japan about Robotech and so Valkyries, this is why you can't buy Arcadia/yamato/Bandai VF outside of japan unless you buy them online. IF HG would have want nice VF they would have signed with bandai long ago. All in all, not a lot of chance to buy the right price those nice Robots.
Anyone else's Fokker have really loose neck and head lasers?
Mine did and with a couple more problems with it. The right arm when you slide it to push and lock it place doesn’t snap on so the arm is loose. And the leg bar on connection to the locking area doesn’t snap and lock on either so in battroid mode it rocks back and forth. Qc on this sucks!

No, it rotates at the base of the neck and has a ball at the top of the neck... Which allows you to move it around like that

Nice figures, but damn, availability and price points are terrible. Really disappointed about that.
Its quite sad to see Japanese engineers still needing fillers and accessories to make a perfect transformation when Hasbro's masterpiece versions could do so without them, and with much more complex transformations.
I am hoping they can engineer their antenna and propulsion cover fillers and a waist swivel into the toy without adding anything into it. Hasbro could do so with so many of their characters, why can't the Japanese just do a good one?
Master piece are not habro but takara robots i think, so japanese. Plus for good Macross toys there is only japanese ones, the toynami's are just ....
By Masterpiece you mean transformers? You can't really use it as comparison. Transformers toys can take a liberty on their design to make transformation better but Macross fans prefer accuracy to the source material than transformation gimmick. The problem with anime transformation is that sometimes they have things like magical mass-shifting that's impossible to imitate in real life. Macross designs have less of it than transformers but it's still there, and to achieve perfect look they have to compensate with swappable parts.
The fun in owning these and being able to transform with ease is over. I have this and hate it. I like the older ones where you could transform in 5mins any mode you want. These are fragile and easily breakable and tons of plastic but horribly expensive.
Roy Focker died before the super parts were made and installed on the valkyrie. Putting them on this piece may not be good for those who want their valkyrie to be TV accurate.
Always wondered why the promos and toys for Roy had the super parts 🤔 he never got the chance to use them...
Could you imagine if a car company made one of the coolest cars available but they only made 1000 that they sell for $100,000 and then allow the people who bought these cars to then turn around and sell them for 3 to $400,000 wouldn’t that make the car company look extremely stupid for not making more of the car why is Bandai allowing second party people to make more money off of their product than the company itself..?! I’m 50 years old it’s 2022 and the world seems more retarded than ever..!
