Simply amazing. And, how ironic that a near $700 item didn't need to be crowd-funded in order for it to be produced and successful. That's just weird.

Except its not sold in stores....They don't have to ship large quantities to retail, they only have to worry about 40 year olds finding a website and ordering it....Hasbro does a lot wrong, but there is a massive difference between something sold on the internet and sold at retail.
I collect things, but I can also grasp that some things just aren't made specifically for me. Some toy lines are literally meant to be toy lines for children and not for the rude, idiot adults that rush out to the store to buy 13 of each thing so they can sit on them....But in reality kid doesn't care about He-Man, kids doesn't care about 1987 TMNT, doesn't really care about Original Trilogy Star Wars toys or that they have 65 POA and a display stand...I'm also not a garbage parent so I don't tell my child what he is going to be into like some "special" adults
My kid literally just wants to play with things, doesn't want to pose things, doesn't want to display things, doesn't care that something maybe if sat on it long enough and not touched might be valuable in the future...YES toy companies and the lack of toy stores have ruined some things. BUT so have the god damned adults. I cannot count the number of things that I cannot get my kid because the imbecile adults have rushed out or bot purchased 25 of them....Its not just the "billion dollar corporations" as some people love to proclaim are the only problem.

Their timing is pretty good in one regard; this being released during your tenth anniversary made for a really nice intro! Excellent video, and if you feel that this is the end of the journey, I say so be it. I'm not a Voltron fan, but all of your videos on it are really entertaining, and I've been in construction work more than long enough to know that not everything that works on a two-dimensional surface is going to translate into the real 3-D world. It looks like they've really done the job right with what can be done now, so enjoy it and great job all around.

I was on the fence about this version mostly because I couldn't get Soul of Chogokin but then it was reissued and I picked it up. But when I saw videos of Blitzway battery issues it was the second turn off for me. The first turn off being that nearly $700 price tag. The third turn off was the panels that cover legs of the red and yellow lions in Voltron mode wasn't executed as well as I'd hoped. And last but not least he's not big enough for the price IMO. And like you I'm most impressed with the flight stand but it wasn't enough to sell me once the Chogokin version became available again. But I didn't think Soul of Chogokin was worth the price till I held it in my hands at toy show one day. Great video and commentary as always!

Great review as usual; all the pros and cons down to the smallest and the reasoning behind them along with comparisons. Incredilbe figure. After this point anything better that comes out will either be the same but just a few improving tweaks (but only making it worth buying for those who don't yet have this one and who can afford the price hike), added bells and whistles (nice but just fluff) or will be some futuristic automated machine that actually transforms, by which point they'll be sold at banks with an accompanying loan.

That was a fantastic review and I also purchased this $700 Voltron and it is nothing short of amazing! I was never able to get any of the Voltron toys when I was a kid back in the 80s, my parents were not into spending that much money for a toy and it was also difficult to find all the lions from what I recall anyway. Now that I am all grown (49 years young) and I can get what I want when I want, all I have to deal with is the eye rolls and head shakes from my wife.. LOL! I love collecting all these toys based on stuff from when I was kid though and it has always amazed me how much better many of them are than the originals (OG Starscream vs masterpiece figures from today for example), I still collect those too, but still a great time to be a collector. Keep up the great content, I very much enjoy your videos.

Great job and well said. As a fellow collector myself who loves Voltron but also collects other pop culture items, I agree with you 100%. My Blitzway Voltron is on its way. I LOVE your idea for a display, and I may just do the same but again the Blitzway Voltron looks really good as Voltron as well. The fact Blitzway gets the Bandai Namco seal of approval to me is also a big deal and makes me think this might be Bandai's unofficial answer to a DX version of their own GX-71 Soul of Chogokin Voltron. This really is a dream project.
With so many amazing representations of iconic 80s robots including this and the mind-blowing, self-transforming Robosen Optimus Prime, I really hope someone gives us a collector grade combing Mighty Orbots figure. If they did that, I would happily add it to my collection and I would own amazing representations of my most memorable robots from the 80s. The fact that we have what we have more that 40 years later is not lost on me. Again, well done and thank you for sharing.

That looks awesome! A thought on fixing the pilots. Instead of a heat gun, try very hot, but not quite boiling water. Once you can bend them into the right position, rinse in cold water to set the position. I've used this to fix lots of resin miniatures with bent weapons, etc.

    • @JeminiThaBard
      @JeminiThaBard Před 2 lety +2

The only thing about boiling water is sometimes water will weaken the paint to plastic bond and you can get paint chip or removal. Not to discredit anything BrokenWolf668 said, as that is a great technique.

I think for LEDs they should do sort of like how the vintage liono required a separate battery pack to light up his eyes. Like have a remote batery box that plugs into a port somewhere on the figure to make it all light up. That way you can use regular batteries and not mess around with little tools.

Lego Voltron is what got me back into Lego after not really getting anything new since I was a kid in the late 70's early 80's. I always wanted a Voltron toy growing up but it was either too expensive or hard to find because they were Japanese imports. It's one of my favourite sets still after collecting nearly 100 sets since. In retrospect it would have been cheaper to just buy a damn die-cast Voltron off E-Bay. 🤔

Maybe in a REMASTER Blitzway will add in the opening of ears for the Yellow Lion & the head opening up on the Blue Lion 🤔
Those 2 additions will make that Voltron, the ULTIMATE Voltron to get 🤔🤗

100% agree. I too will display it on Lion mode. Good idea on putting the Bandai GX-71 at the back. I will not use the light up feature after i messed up my Voltes V Volt-in box Crewzer 1 after the battery leaked. The display base and mini-figures made me choose this over the ThreeZero Voltron

I absolutely love the display box and flight stands , figures and presentation. But I couldn't buy the $700 fig as a deal maker. Not in a day and age of 3D printing. I will seek a comparable stand and figures out in third party market or make one myself for the ThreeZero figure.

Awesome. Congrats on your aquisition! You bring up excellent points. This Voltron is a sight to behold. I love your idea of displaying it as the separate lions with the Bandai Soul of Chogokin behind them. I don't know that I will pick this up due to the price point. I already have a Soul of Chogokin, and I just REALLY like the look/proportions of it both as lions and as Voltron.
Though the panels that cover the lion legs are cool on the Blitzway, and I get that it makes Voltron more anime accurate, (and this is just my opinion) I'm not sold on it. It makes the green lion look boxier as Voltron's left arm and it has always had a rounder look. The panels also (in my opinion) make the blue and yellow lions look boxier from the front.
I think it's awesome though that this set includes the pilots and the ability to display the lions flying. I agree that light up features really aren't that necessary.
    Great video. Congrats again!

Great content. I also have the SOC ..........can't wait for the ThreeZero version. Was on the fence and cancelled the PO when I was made aware of QC issues however, I believe the QC issues were cleaned up fairly quickly by Blitzway.

There's a definite benefit to the combination to this thing being bigger with the shoulders. I think I might sell my SOC and get this. You've persuaded me.

Not sure which toy I had (the same one you had prob)
Circa 1988 - the lions snapped together and it was amazing.
Best thing ever - I had the castle too. Thanks for the memories.

great review as always. The best part is now you can use the scaled pilots for a voltron battletech game.

Damn, this is the only Voltron set I would display with the separate lions because that display is dope. Is this worth more than double the price of the Tamashii Nation set though? Def no.

I remember when the lions weren’t sold together. Blue and red came together, green and yellow, came together, and black was by itself. They were hard as hell to find and took me almost a year to complete. That’s an eternity when you are 9….which is why I still have it.
