I don't understand. If you don't want to write a review about this car, just pick a Mercedes and you won't have to complain about this car. You sound like a little kid.

So having mostly negative criticism towards a car means he shouldn't do a video review of it? That's how it usually goes; either the review is mostly positive or its mostly negative. he said himself he's trying to find good things to say about the car, but there aren't that many. If u feel offended by the "complaining" or something u don't have to watch it lol

OK, I honestly have to disagree with the review, we are talking for the entry level-weakest engine QP V (2004 MY release), the quality of the materials in the cabin are top notch, leather everywhere etc. While the engineering part of the car comes from one of the best companies out there. I agree that the DuoSelect gearbox isn't fit for purpose (executive comfortable ride) but it is not rubbish. Also the segment of competition for this car is not the comfort level of the BMW 7.60 or S600, but rather Audi S8 or S63AMG, which they come with not so comfortable ride as their base performance family. You mention that the car is not fast, which is not true at all. If you compare it with the Audi S8, you will see that the QP is 0,1 Sec faster and 20+Kph at the top speed. Similar in most of the performance charts with the exception of the 0-200, in which the 5.2 V10 of Audi/Gallardo engine makes it faster by 1.5 Sec. I don't think that anyone cares about the milliseconds on the performance, I just mention the numbers in order to offer an accurate comparison.
At the same time, the design of the car is timeless. I am not talking about beauty which is subjective but design. Just compare it with the BMW 7series fourth generation E65 , Audi S8 (D3) , Mercedes W221 etc. All the cars from that era seem like grandparents of the QPV
It is an executive car for the people that they like to drive and enjoy it, it is an executive car in which the owner is the driver. While the rest are executive cars for people that sit on the real seats and have a chauffeur.
I enjoyed the video and its was well made. Thank you for the content.

you´re spot on with the appeal of the car, the reasons you mentioned are why a vast majority of people who owned the car chose to buy it. However, the car as a whole was a disaster. Yes, the F1 Engine and maserati exhaust pairing sound amazing. Yes, it´s fun to drive when you want to drive it like that. However, it wasn´t refined enough to be useful outside of being a sports car, which is a shame as it is a well appointed spacious car. And the last straw for most owners was the terrible reliability and massive repair costs. All in all, maserati learned from it and produced amazing cars such as the mid 2010´s grandturismo, so amazing that owners are willing to forgive reliability problems.

You know, I understand the point you made in the video. BUT as someone who owns an S-Class, I agree with the refinement and all. BUT, this Maserati is like a four door Ferrari. It really isn't about the refinement and smoothness. It's more about the sporty handling and the raw feel of the powertrain and aggressive/harsh F1 gearbox. I wouldn't buy this as a daily, it would be a fun weekend car you could rip around in and have a blast listening to that beautiful sound! I know maintenance is far from cheap on these, if you're a car guy looking for something super cool for the $$, these are hard to beat. They're sooo cheap to buy now and if you get the later models with the updated engine and ZF gearbox, it gets even better!

Okay I never drove one of those but my dad owns a Ferrari F430 also from 2006 and it has the same F1 transmission. I drove it a couple times and you actually need to hold the gas while shifting up, it give you a good kick on hard acceleration but it´s smooth if you just drive slower, it´s actually build to do it that way.

If not for driving S classes and 7 series, I would say lovely things about the ride quality, but those two ruined every other car for me. The airmatic on the S-class is far more comfortable in every way, and the suspension on the S-class really is unlike anything I ever felt. The exhaust note on this motor is one of the best, and if this thing had an exhaust and air suspension I would really enjoy driving it!

I think most logical comparison to this car is not Germans but Jaguar XJ, these two fall in same category as rare, luxurious big EU sedan cars. Talking about 2004-2009 XJs. Looking at reviews it seems that Maserati is trap for people who were looking to buy Jag but got this instead. Like Maserati, Jag has that rare factor that you don't see them everyday in street, gets attention, luxurious inside with wood and leather everywhere, analog clock in centre console like Maserati but just way better car overall. I have driven that one and it does not have any flaws you mentioned in this video. I think only better thing Maserati has is engine sound, but Jags are also famous for growling V8 engines.
