And the gloves-only other car brand that I know that supplied them in that manner is....Rolls Royce of the Vickers era and prior. The steering wheel/seat adjustment on entry is very nice. First experienced it on the Jaguar XJ8. Earliest car I experienced it in was the 1996 Jaguar XJ12. But it was a near requirement for anyone that had any sort of meat on them in that car. I also have a 2005 S500. Mine came with the rear headrest option where I can raise and lower them with the button. No retracting trunk latch. I got the push button auto open and close trunk. And it's true. In my neighborhood there is indeed a 2000_2001 S-Class sitting it's belly that ain't moved in years. And even on mine, dealt with the air shocks. Easy to replace. Tad expensive but not bad. Oh one last thing you missed. Instrument cluster lights transformer can go kaputz causing flickering or complete IC darkness. Stupid expensive to replace if go to dealer. With programming. But not bad if one can find a ship in repair shop to repair the cluster.

Hey, one comment from my side, it's single Turbo N55 3.0l engine. On the engine cover you may see an info saying TwinPower Turbo, that's not 2 turbos. Regards🖐️

If both 500 and 55 were fully stock would there be a sound difference? I feel like I want a 55 but 500 is much cheaper and insurance but is the cl55 much more aggressive in sound? Would a cl500 sound growly with a straight pipe/sports cat? Thanks.

I have a S500 L now. A lot is true what you say but refine? The craftsmanship of this generation just is not good. Costsavings everywhere. Cheap plastics like no Audi or BMW would have used them at the time. Technically complex and again all things sooner or later fail. But when it rides it is great. However, drive a BMW 5 series F10 or 11 with adaptive drive and you'll see the ride comfort in comfort + is at least as good. But way better build and has all the same creature comforts plus more.

This gave me such a comfort that I am not alone 😂- I have this love-hate relationship with my 2002 S55 AMG - mine is currently awaiting ABC hose (second one now) from FCP EURO - although I think it will be back in running condition - it is a matter of time before something else breaks. I am a DIY guy so, at the beginning it was fun browsing and finding ways to fix things - but this is growing old on me now and my wallet is feeling it. My GS430 is the real deal and daily driver nowadays.

I had a W215 CL500. Basically the S-Class coupé with ABC suspension. So pretty much the same car and it was unbelievable to own but fuck me £4k maintenance in 1 years ownership. 🤦‍♂️

Anywhere from $15-39k with over 100,000km. But is it worth the headache with all shit that will go wrong?’ But as you mentioned if you know mechanical/car maintenance it’s ok. But if you’re not, then you are up the creek.. I would love to pick one up…I will think about it. $ not an issue..but one must be smart when it comes to buying an old benz
