- Gods School episode 4 retells the myth of the nymph Echo and how she lost her voice.
Echo the Mountain nymph lives on Mount Olympus in the peaceful sanctuary of the gods. But she has one weakness: She is constantly gossiping and spying on the Olympians.
Sticking her nose into the gods business will only get her into trouble!

i just noticed that zeus gives hera a flower to forgive him about cheating. AND SHE'S GOT LOTS OF THEM.

Well from how many he gave to her the five so far may foreshadow the sons of Zeus if you ask me that is.
He's a serial cheater in classic mythology, so yeah, it makes sense she'd have a lot of flowers.

I’m genuinely surprised this hasn’t been picked up by a studio! This has the same sort of potential as Monster High or Ever After High. These characters designs are stunning and could absolutely be super successful as a toy release. Zeus may potentially need a redesign, since he looks similar to the Mouse House version of Hercules, but the little details in each characters’ design are superb and I personally would love to collect a line of dolls in their likeness. This is incredible work!

Yeah, I have to agree it would be wise to give Zeus a different look, cause he looks way too much like Disney's version of Hercules.
Cause serious The House of Mouse can be really ruthless when it comes to people creating designs similar to their characters. Like seriously, those people bloody abuse the concept of copyright infringement to their advantage all the time. And I don't think the fact that Zeus is Hercules' father makes it any better.

I got hacked just after the release of this episode and I lost control over my social media accounts (Facebook and Instagram).
It's been a nightmare! After one year of work on this episode, this was the worst timing.I fortunately managed to recover my Instagram!

I think this is the first time in a while since I see Aphrodite being in love with Hephaestus, according to many myths she was "forced" to marry him, and she hated him I think. I also read about her being with Ares and having Eros as a son. So I guess this is a different twist now that I see here like that
Some versions the marriage wasn't too bad, Greek myth is very inconsistent in a lot of ways. Eros is... complicated. Some versions he's her son, other versions he's a primordial being but in both versions he can play the gods like a lyre.
Please read Lovely War by Julie Berry. You’d enjoy the dynamic between Aphrodite and Hephaestus a lot.

Not only with Ares. She had like ten lovers while being with Hephaestus. Zeus can be a serial cheater but Aphrodite is not far behind.
Is not that she was forced. In the Odyssey she is married to Hephaestus but she betrays him with Ares. Earlier portrayls usually put thrm together. But in later myths the writers were unable to believe that the ugliest god was with the most beautiful goddess, so they create the story where she was married to him against her will in a certain way. But originally there is nothing of that sort (altrough she still betrays him).

When it showed that Hera put that Lotus flower (or I think it's a lotus) that symbolized all the times Zeus cheated on her I almost cried, like I expected that Zeus behaved better in this story but because it just looked like everything was fine and all thanks to Hera, my poor queen deserve better

And I knew Zeus would continue to be a womanizer. But Hera, on the other hand, should never abandon Zeus, because she cannot physically love anyone but him, because she is the goddess of marriage, fidelity and family. The only thing she can do is be very disappointed in him.

so much is well thought out in this series. from Persephone springing flowers at the sight of Hades, to Aphrodite’s complicated relationship with Hephaestus! thank you for staying true to Greek lore while adding your magic ✨ stunning episode!
The funny thing is in her own myth despite being the goddess of spring, she doesn't actually have any power over it, Demeter just gets happy again and does it when she returns. But all of her myths give her titles like dread Persephone, which I think is supposed to be reflected in the way her design shifts when she touched hands with Hades.
Aphrodite doesn’t have a complicated relationship with Hephaestus in lore. She was forced to marry him, didn’t love him at all, and cheated on him multiple times with Ares and other men. What’s complicated about that?
Genuinely everything is so beyond perfect.

@@TamaraKane Disney does not own Greek mythology. And unlike Disney's Hercules (which should actually have been Heracles anyway), this series is far more on point with actual Greek lore. It's still a modern take on mythology, but done so much better.
When I heard about Apollo's "new crush" Hyacinth I was so happy! I love the representation! And I love the attention to otherwise ignored details!!
Also I feel like Zeus's voice matches the character well!! I could also see it matching Apollo imo. All of the voices match the characters so well!! Amazing job!
As a little girl, I was always in love with the nymphs, as they are the most connected with nature, and literally wild and free. I read tons of stories of the nymphs, and involving nymphs. Like the story with Daphne and Apollo, and yes this one with Echo. I will always cry for Echo, she doesn't deserve to hide forever in the shadows.
The Zeus being Zeus is finally here just like the myths 😁😁✨✨

I know already a plot for how story would go: when Eris improves her studies and becomes better in them then other students, Hera gets envious to her and uses her powers to get Eris into a a trouble and Excell her from Mount Olympus, then Eris makes her revenge to other deities.

The scene when paris knows about Goddess Nyx (God of the Night) that was so great. Btw to all viewers Nyx is not evil in Greek Myth ok? Its just a show. I'm excited of Zeus reaction if he sees Nyx , he'll freaked out if he sees her🤣
Nyx was one of the more chill goddesses, all things considered, and actually one of the allies of the gods after the fall of the titans.
I'm glad that Hades isn't the default villain like most things, but I truly hope Nyx isn't 100% evil and is just doing something important like working with Chronis to try and test them.
Also the only god/goddess that Zeus fears is nyx
They really pulled a "magic's flute" here and turned her into the villain, while Kronus(, Zeus, etc) are heroes 💀
Nyx was a Primordial (so's Gaia but she's lumoed with the Titans despite being the mother of them) and she's the only one that Zeus is afraid of.
So, I'm not sure if I got it right, but the poor nymph was about to tell the other Gods and Goddesses about Eris and Paris's conversation about Nyx. She's was trying to speak to someone "important" about what she heard and saw, but Eris used her powers on Echo on 13:56 so that if she tried to talk to someone about it or anything, they would dismiss her and see it as her being her usual tattle-tale self. Then, Hera ruins her chances of ever telling anyone about Nyx by casting the curse on her. Poor, poor Echo.
Yeah maybe to warn them of a possible threats if hella of Troy get added to the mix.
Exactly, Eris boosted further the flaws of Echo, notably the gossipy side of her character, so that nobody would take her seriously had she talked about Nyx’s (Eris’s mother) ambiguous role in the attack of the Aloads. Actually, not only the others dismissed her, but Hera even cursed Echo to prevent her from spreading Zeus’s cheating adventures. Of course Hera punished her to protect her own reputation as a goddess, without knowing that she served Eris’s cause... Greek drama in all its glory!

😄❗️What I noticed throughout this episode:
In the beginning, we hear Paris’ words echoing, but throughout the episode, we see Echo talking and the events that occurred of how Echo lost her voice, this means that the scene with both Paris, Oenone, Eris & Sfiga happened AFTER Echo got her voice taken away! Which is why at the end, when we hear Eris’ words echoing, it’s safe to assume that she knows that it is Echo echoing as she looks back and gives a glaring look.
The fruit(s) that Eris is giving Paris is called ‘lotus’ and it’s again safe to assume that Eris had been giving Paris that fruit on purpose in order for him to forget that he saw Nyx, Eris’ mother.
At 12:58 we see so much of the same flower, this means that (presumably) Zeus always gives Hera that specific flower every time he messes up, this in not his first time. Also, I really feel bad for Echo, despite her kind of bringing it on herself. 😞

True, it is sad for Echo. In the original myth, she was distracting Hera with her talking to cover Zeus infidelities. Hera cursed her the same way. This time she deserved it less.

The real Hera should have left Zeus a long time ago. I loved how you portrait it here since Zeus is a serial cheater.
The thing about it though, Hera is the goddess of marriage, not divorce. She is the pillar of society in that marriage was fundamental to the greeks, and women couldn’t divorce. So she wouldn’t be able to leave him. The queen of the gods must set an example not just to the deities, but because she was worshipped by humans for her marriage role. Long story short, she’s trapped. I know she could be a real pill, but I feel a bit sorry for her as well because of that.
@@AlethrialTheElvenEmpress Women could divorce in ancient Greece though (of course not as easily as men), and Hera separates more than once from Zeus in the myths. In Argolis she regained the status of unmarried girl anually and in Arcadia she had a cult title that meant widow or divorced woman.

good job on the episode but, I will say, definitely confusing. it goes all around, and was difficult to understand the story.
Goddess hecate and some other gods and goddesses din't made a single appearance BUT SO FAR I LOVE HOW THE NYMPHS ARE CREATED, it's still underrated as always, but I hope the other gods and goddesses with less screen times and lines gets more screen times and lines also in the next episodes. Please never stop making episodes and because I'm getting addicted to it, make it as long as a Hercules episode when it became a Disney series, if you would, because your works are worth those amount of hours, since we wait for a long time. I wish you were part of Disney you're sooooo talented

I like this episode. I like seeing how Persephone and Minthe are working together. And it’s really mysterious of how Echo knows about Nyx and she can’t tell anyone now. I can’t wait to see the next episode and see where this story goes.

I remember I found about this two years ago when there was only 1 episode and thought it's Matel. I was disappointed to see there is only one episode and thought they've dropped it.
Today I found out that it's indie and omg this is so good! I'm glad they've maid more episodes and the quality is getting better and better!
Not really indie if it's rotoscoped directly on Disney scenes. I liked a lot of the art, but I don't get going to all this trouble and not going the extra mile to differentiate from the original work it's ripping off.

I love how accurate the series tries to stay🤩 ! Small detail I noticed is that Zeus looks like Heracles ( Hercules ) from Disney ! Also the lotus is such a nice fruit . It has a unique taste and it has two different textures ,one hard and one soft . When its not perfectly mature (rip) it has some black spores that numb the tongue . The letter that Zeus wrote has the letter "Βλάκας:blakas'' is a common greek swear phrase that we use to tell someone that he is stupid or a jerk . Lastly the symbols in the hellenic (greek) words are called ''περισπωμένη (circumflex) + οξεία ( acute) which they where noted in long syllables , when the speaker hat to raise the tone of his voice and then lower the tone of his voice during the pronunciation of the same vowel. The acute is still used by the Hellenic (greek) language ( like in other languages that have latin origin) while the circumflex stopped being used by the Hellenes (Greek) in 1982.

Ahhhhh so amazing, I loved it, so happy to see all of my favourite couples, Apollo and Hyacinth, Aphrodite and Hephaestus, Hades and Persephone. Can’t wait for the next episode 10/10

Honestly low key horrifying to watch Echo lose her free will to speak. It was pretty intense seeing the look of realization, shock, and then straight up distress over take her. I often forget that the Gods used to punish each other and people unfairly for the most minute things. I wonder why Hera didn't just cast a spell to make it where she can't gossip but can still talk, would've been just as effective

*this is perfect, it’s amazing for kids and adults! Out of all the “adult” Greek mythology shows and “kid” ones this is the one I love the most*
So for those who don't know Danae is the mother of Persus son of Zeus, who got pregnant with him after being showered in a golden rain that was Zeus.
This episode was SO worth the wait! I am loving where the story is going.

This is the most crazy episode ever! So much gossip and drama, but I do feel bad for Echo.
Honestly treating all of Zeus's affairs as high school drama kinda minimizes the whole ordeal between him and Hera, but because of the tone of the show it still has the emotional weight it needs to without being a total bummer. So I really like it
What would you think if one of his affairs came in Mt Olympus?
@@0valeyes well obviously if he cheats with someone Hera has to actually see around school grounds that's even worse. And knowing that Zeus has those affairs I'm interested in seeing if and how that plays out in the show

I love this series it's so gosh darn creative. Every episode I can really feel all the hard work and the passion that was up into it.
Echo wanted to tell it to Hera coz she thought that as the most important person she should learn that first. She did not realize that even if she told her Hera would not belive given her reputation. Sad how she ended up.
