Yeah, Greek gods were immature and petty because the life expectancy in ancient Greece was 30 yo, so most people alive were immature and petty.
The goddessgirl book series perfectly encapsulates the HS drama with some tweaks for a child-appropriate audience.

I loved the Godddessgirl books growing up, and this is kind of like that, but in a high school setting instead of a middle school setting. And if I'm being honest, the art style for this slightly reminds me of the art style for the goddessgirl book covers (at least the US ones. I don't know if they have different styles for the covers in other countries)

Ok so since no one else seems to be bringing it up, I really love that you had Athena making the dress. People tend to forget she is also a goddess of weaving and this made my mythology brain happy.

I don't speak English but I seriously wanted to comment (so if something is wrong... it was the translator) in one chapter Zeus talked about a certain Danae, it seems that according to mythology He appeared as a shower of gold (just like what he wanted to give her in the chapter) and impregnated her, causing Perseus to be born, so it seems that poor princess Danae must already be pregnant Even though according to the series they are technically teenagers, and until now they have shown it as the first deception, now imagine when Hera finds out that the other is going to be a father.

What I really like is how well Hera is written. She comes off as mean and superficial, but deep down, she's extremely insecure and knows Zeus isn't faithful. Instead of ending things with him, she chooses to stay with him because she loves him AND cares about maintaining this perfect image of herself. Sure, Zeus and Hera talk about working on their relationship, but deep down, they don't trust each other. They had a chance to talk things out, but one conversation isn't going to solve their problems.
It's sad cause now Hera is going to use underhanded means to keep an eye on Zeus while trying to hide the obvious flaws of their relationship.
Little does she know that in the context of the series, everyone either knows or will find out about the true nature of their relationship, which basically means the facade she's creating is utterly pointless.

I love how this shows that both sides of their relationship is toxic rather than it being about only one of them being the bad person in the relationship. Zeus does cheat on her, but Hera is also overly jealous and paranoid. At least Aphrodite and Hephaestus are still adorable! Plus, it looks like Aphrodite is eventually going to snap when it comes to Hera.
But doesn't Hera have a reason to be paranoid and jealous if Zeus keeps cheating on her?

I love the attention to detail in this short. While Hera seems to be bullying aphrodite at the beggining, shes actually projecting her own feelings of insecurity on to her because zeus has cheated on her so many times she feels paranoia. This is exactly why Hera, doesnt want Aphrodite to release the reigns on Ares, she feels that he will do to aphrodite just what Zeus has done to her so many times. Whether it came from a place of love or contempt i dont know but still great attention to detailm
One thing this show nails is writing relationship drama. Both Zeus & Hera are written really well. I like how we get to see the former’s cheating & how it affects the latter first. (It’s the most well-known thing about the pair.) Now, we get a glimpse of the other side.
Zeus cheats b/c Hera makes him feel unappreciated & small. It doesn’t excuse his actions, but them plus this dialog lets us know that he is deeply insecure. He feels like he doesn’t measure up to his father. He’s drawn to Hera b/c she always seems so strong & put together. He wants to be that. (Little does he know it’s just a facade.)
On the other hand, we have Hera. Now, at first, she just seems mean & shallow, but the truth is she's extremely insecure in her position, & thus overly conscious of her image. To boost & preserve said image she stays w/ Zeus.
It’s all about staying on top of the social hierarchy. Moreover, the social stakes are much higher when your social life is for eternity. Hera knows that. She isn’t allowed to have a flaw, b/c having one means she loses her place at the top. It’s honestly exhausting just to think about.
Worst of all? In the end, it’s all pointless. Everyone will find out the truth about them eventually. Mortals included. Thus, causing all of Hera’s possessive actions to be for nothing.

@@Hannagiris It’s not contradictory at all. I agree w/ you completely. What I was trying to imply is that Hera was already insecure in her position at the top due to regular status drama, & Zeus’s cheating made it worse. I get now that I didn’t do a good job there.

This episode was so good. The opening scene reminded me of mean girls. Loved how hera was riping into zeus and the ending left me on the edge.

I love this interpretation of them! And damn, the design and animation on Hera is brilliant!! Though gotta say, when Zeus said, "You're just like my father" I half expected her to go, "You mean *our* father" 😂
Hera was the Goddess of Marriage, Women, and Children.
So for her husband to betray their marriage and have children with other women…. he literally desecrated her very role and existence as a Goddess. Of course she was punishing all involved.

It's nuts how much each episode improves on the previous one in every regard. Animation, sound effects, background music, character movement, little details, it's really cool.

While that's true in myth. I don't know if that's the case in the series given Demeter is Persephone's friend instead of mom.

Wow. I am scared for Echo and Hera’s peacock. This excellent short video implies a lot of greatness. Hera is a great actress around Zeus and a vixen around Echo. Also, Athena and Aphrodite are great besties to be around to handle anything, especially Hera’s nasty demeanor. Bravo to this series!

Everything about this episode was perfect. The beginning makes a reference to the Mean Girls movie and at the same time is faithful to the story of the gods, the toxic relationship between Zeus and Hera being shown like a teen movie. How creative the creator is, he uses current and old things and brings them together in the present in a magical way.
I’m waiting for Hera finding the Burn Book and writing everything she said about Eris or Athena being a sneaky little beetch or something

So glad to see this continuing! Worth the wait- and so well done. The animation is top notch, and I love the fact that you don't shy away from showing the toxicity in their relationship (or others.)
People really gloss over that aspect of Greek lore if they don't know it deeply- it's rather sad how many people hold them up on a pedestal when in reality, the people who dreamed up the stories were looking for DRAMA based on Human interactions instead of some shiny fluffy story about perfect people.

I always find it funny how often media wants to use Greek mythology as a setting, but go through countless hoops to avoid 90% of it
because is hard to tell a compeling history when all your cast are complete pieces of shit. look at disney hercules. a great movie and also the most distant depiction ever of the greek gods. lore olympus is really popular because is a good balance of showing some of their trademark main flaws while still changing them a lot.
also ofc they are and will be used forever because they are the most well know group of gods to make a history about from a western perspective.

I just discovered this series an hour ago thanks to an IG reel and I'm so glad i did it! It's an amazing show! I can't wait for more content, so far my favorite characters are Aphrodite, Persephone, Hades, Eris and actually Hera, she is really well written and this episode portrayed really well his relationship dynamics with Zeus, so realistic. All of the character desings are gorgeous! This needs to be picked by some major platform, we don't have enough greek mythology content outhere.
