      Searching for a new car, I've seen many vehicle review videos on youtube recently and I was very surprised about the quality of this one! Level of details and especially the style of review and presentation outclasses all. Even from a viewpoint of a non-native english speaker. Hope the gentleman in the video receives all the credit he deserves! And yes, Combo Life is on the top of our list currently.

    Citroen Berlingo is identical but in Germany offers much bigger discounts, it is offered for over 2000€ less than the Combo. And front end looks imo better on the Citroen.

    I drive a Vauxhall combo van for work, I love the high position, the visibility, and the simple controls and the great fuel economy, plus they are terrific on the motorway, I'm going to try to get one of these when my replacement is due, I think with a livery it can be classified as a commercial vehicle.

    Thanks for excellent review! I think with Zafira going away sometime next year (and already gone from UK market last month) and upcoming big SUV, this car makes some sense. Some Zafira owners will switch to Combo Life, some to new SUV. And some to Touran/S-Max.

    Well done review. For sure comprehensive one. Message is clear. Good test for those who never consider this kind of vehicle for family purpose or never expect that this car can be so family friendly and multi purpose. I am sure if someone try one, will never think about other vehicle any more.

    I'd agree on that it's not bad looking at all. Only thing I'd really change is that there is a little much of painted body from the front. Wider grille or some other black plastic would make it less wierd looking.
    Really like it from the side. The kind of french looking squared wheel arches and the angular windows really work nice :)

    The new owner of Opel is a so much better than the old one. Ok now Opel uses the PSA platforms, but they are putting out vehicles like never before. And most of them are a quite compelling options. I hope that the Opels research and development department isn’t going to die off now.

    • @slava_trushkin
      @slava_trushkin Před 5 lety +1

      They are making new vehicles because they need to move away from GM platform. Everything that belongs to GM will be going away. I think next year we'll see new Insignia that has nothing in common with old one except name, based on PSA platform. Also 7 seater SUV. However after looking at this review and comparing it to Peugeot Rifter, my hopes aren't high. This car is almost identical to Peugeot Rifter. Does this mean new SUV will be a copy of 5008 and new Insignia will be a copy of 508? That's not innovation.

    • @worldolivier
      @worldolivier Před 5 lety +1

      @@slava_trushkin The Grandland X (based on 3008) ins't a copy of the french cousin. Same for the interior part. But it still has PSA engines and transmission. So, Opel will keep its DNA i think

    Amazingly detailed review, thank you. I've been looking for a 2-3 year old van-based car (I'm UK-based) with petrol engine and automatic gearbox. Almost no Berlingos or Rifters for sale have these two requirements. For some reason, there are lots more auto/petrol Combo Lifes for sale, but I knew very little about them. Not too sure about their rather bland looks, but your video has reassured me no end as to their functionality. Again, thank you for so much detail - and your enthusiasm!

    Easy practical fix is a velcro-strap ( see you got one on your phone/cable there ), also get a separate USB cable just for the infotainment screen, tie the cable with velcro and hide it under the inductive charger, presto! less clutter.
    Car has impressive amount of cubbyholes and the price is quite unbelievable really. For looks I think Peugeot Rifter is the best with Citroen Berlingo in 2nd and Opel Combo 3rd.
    Great looking dash/cabin even if most of it is just plastic.
    The Automatic selector looks kind of off in that vehicle.

    Have no idea what you're on about regarding looks. A car is a box with an engine and 4 wheels. Greatest car of all time was Nissan Sunny 1.3DX Estate - a simple van with seats. We kept being asked if we'd be willing to sell. Since 2005, we've had an early Peugeot Partner Combi then a later one. Seats 5 18-year old males - leg room and width. Disabled elderly ladies can get in and out easily from front and back. Great as a van while gutting and rebuilding a 1930s semi in south east London. Fits a large washing machine or a few bicycles inside easily. Easy to drive and park in narrow east London streets. The Nissan was better for sheet materials - could fit 8 * 3 foot board with passenger seat down and 6 * 4 foot board with passenger seat up. Since this is based on the Citroen and Peugeot, it looks perfect for 5 adults plus heavy duty DiY stuff or three grandchildren under 6.

    I've got the XL and its manual gearbox often doesn't mean to take the first on the traffic lights while it jitters when I press the clutch uphill. Also, the 2nd row passengers are seated way too upright, making long journeys unbearable as their seats don't recline at all. On top of everything, those seated in the 3rd row are roasted like chickens on a hot summer day given that their windows don't open and there are no air vents, not even as an option. It's about time PSA understood passengers are something more than parcels on shelves and they definitely deserve more respect.

    Few things to add:
    Up-down style track switching on the steering wheel is there since like... Astra H I guess meaning since 2004. And you get used with in in few days.
    Why using USB cable?! This advanced infotainment system is equipped with Bluetooth, isn't it?
    And few more expectations from the video (since Brian is a commercial cars fan):
    It was worth showing how front passenger seat is folding to carry long items
    Few minutes more regarding drivers seat, armrest, dashboard view from drivers perspective
    Owning a similar type of car it was really worth demonstrating how 3 persons could sit in the rear, give some measurements of the bootspace and what else... Few more words about visibility and mirrors, possibly mirror view from the drivers side
    And even without all those things it's another great review by Brian. My best wishes to you and Jonas :)

      It is very funny to see how he breaks his head looking for the site of the phone and at the same time see the site you mention. Maybe the postproduction will be missing.

    Love these sort of vehicles, but please start fitting decent LED headlamps at least as an option! Safety items should not be just for premium products.

    what worries me is the length of the seat. I'm 185cm tall and my legs are too long for longer journeys - my things need extra support. this car is designed for guys with short legs.
