  • Just another short video of 2 sessions trying to tempt some big clever River Roach using trotting stick float tactics... It was amazing to see the fish in the clear water but catching them was tricky with Pike ,minnows & the weed proving challenging. I did manage a few really nice fish out in the end using maggot n hemp. I apologise for the lack of filming in playing the fish etc, it seemed every time I turned off the camera I hooked one... Hope you enjoy guys... Stay tuned as upcoming videos include Wrasse fishing in North Wales & a new PB Perch for Dave...
    All the best YRR.

Don't know how I missed this! Great session! I wish I had waters as clear as that nearby, my river stains a peaty colour from moorland.
Difficult position too. Very characteristic bridge, very English! 👍

Quality that...nothing better than a few hours on a nice water fishing for whatever comes along. Superb stuff. Always worth taking a spinning set up too as you proved.
    Quality.

Cheers mate, for me the biggest challenge in fishing is a big River Roach... not many of them around these days so to see some pushing 2lb is a rare chance to catch one.. they vanish from this area mid September n don't see them again while July next year...clever things.... hope your fishing is going well of late pal?

@@yorkshireriverrover7199 a 2lb roach is a fish of a lifetime! At least for me it would be, I’ve only ever had one over a pound. Fishing’s been alright, had a couple of hours Thursday night on the local river. Another barbel 8.12, and a very dark bream. Looking forward to having a full day to fish at some point.

Some nice fish. It's a bit frustrating fishing clear water and watching fish reject your bait, but really exciting when you hook one.

So true mate, its certainly a challenge to hook em.... Thinking a hemp or bread approach may be worth a try.....

That was a cracking roach pal. I'm loving the clarity of the water. There's something special about spotting the stripes of a perch, a pike, chevins, barbel or a school of larger roach from above. What a magical river that is 🎣🐟👌
