    Sometimes I miss my XSR700. Why do you need a full colour TFT? For watching movies? When you're on a bike, your eyes should be on the road and only glance at the display for quick info. I don't care for all the tech and rider modes etc. I'm happy with a basic reliable bike with a nice engine note any day.

    • @VMinoda

    Got the 2022 version in black and gold. Upgraded the exhaust to Akrapovic, bar end mirrors added, tail tidy changed and a few other bits. My 1st big bike and I love it. Gives me everything I need exactly when I need it. The dash is perfect don’t need any more. Helps me learn to ride the bike as it should be ridden.

    When it comes to Yamaha their bike will lack of features, mid performance, and expensive but their bikes design are topnotch I think they are my top 1 producing best looking bikes in the market. When it comes to reliability probably it will outlast any European brands and they are cheaper to maintain due to many OEM parts in the market.

    I believe every single company should make a motorcycle trim without all of the tech. I have a 2013 CB600F Hornet and never have I felt, damn I wish I had traction control or damn I wish I had wheelie control. It's a 100+ hp bike I know and I do have ABS but I'm not that good of a rider to need it disabled but I'm also not enough of a crazy rider to need all of those aids. My next bike is hopefully a brand new R1 but I wish it didn't have power delivery modes, traction control, slide control, lift control and launch control. Just give me a quickshifter, abs and that's it. They could do an R1 Legacy and just remove what I mentioned and put as an optional tech package. No slipper clutch is stupid though

    Got one of these last year, great fun to ride. Easy to flip about, nice bit of grunt when you push it. Like the simplistic build and makes you ride it properly. Only complaint is the seat, really uncomfortable after an hour. Standard exhaust looks ok, but is quiet. Fancy the replacement one, but £1800 is a lot. Good bike and good review Bob 👍

  • @VespaNuman
    @VespaNuman Před 7 dny +2

    I have the 2020 XSR700 X-tribute so essentially the earlier version of this. Ultimately, it's just a really fun, versatile bike that looks decent. I've commuted on it, done a few easy green lanes, took a trip to the Picos and Pyrenees on it, and countless b roads.
    As with the MT07, the fit and finish of some of the components, especially the swingarm and coolant pipes leaves a lot to be desired, but other than that I don't have many complaints. I bought a used high mount Akrapovic for £600, which looks and sounds great.

    Media connectivity on a motorcyle? What for, so you can update your facebook profile while in the fast lane of the M1? I feel old. People used to ride bikes for the experience, seems younger people need to be doing something with their thumbs at all times . Be nice if it had tubeless spoked wheels.

  • @jaide1312
    @jaide1312 Před 7 dny +1

    Maybe I'm weird, but when I'm riding my XSR 700 I really don't feel like more power or tech would add to the experience in any way. The power hits that sweet spot where there's plenty to go around for all situations and it's fun to open up fully, without being excessive to the point where you hardly ever give it full throttle.
    And the dash great! Not as great as the twin clocks of a Z650RS, but I definitely prefer it over a TFT, especially the ones that Yamaha offers.
    You really hit the nail on the head with the simplicity being a selling point. Tech wise it's on the same level as a Royal Enfield 650, even the 900cc Triumph retros have more features, which arguably detract from a retro bike that's supposed to be motorcycling at it's purest.

    Manufactureres should take note to have at least a couple of bikes from their lineups which are limited in their tech & features. There are some of us who still look for simplicity on the top of their list of considerations - which is why I went for a T7 when looking for an all-round ADV.

  • @joepotter7763
    @joepotter7763 Před 5 dny

    There is no question the CP2 is a great engine, but the competition has finally caught up and surpassed it. For an out and out fun bike with the basic tech I would argue it's the generations sv650. But for similar money there is now alot more choice. I think it's difficult to find a "bad/rubbish" bike and it's all down to how it makes you feel as an individual and how much you can afford.

    @78Outlaw Před 7 dny +1

    Love my XSR700 XTribute for the fact it is old school riding, and light, basically same bike as Legacy but cost more new and bar different paint job and headlights.
    I prefer cables to ride by wire having ridden both and you really need to ride the XSR to keep up with quicker more modern bikes and rev match etc which is all part of the fun. Wee hooligan bikes.
    As said before those MT60RS I think are way better than most road tyres all year round, wet and slippy roads and on gravel and they do switch on quick, get sticky with heat being a SuperMoto tyre, great in wet,
    The seat height is a actually about 840mm ish and seat looks pretty much same as XTribute,
    I take mine green laning and on back roads and so on reflection would have bought the Ducati Desert Sled tho the early L twin bikes are soft mechanical whereas that CP2 is a peach,
    What about the Fantic Rob?

He has an MT07 with an Akro exhaust, and on the sound per $ measure his bike shites all over my s1000r, and $ per usable performance he is ahead.
