      @dirkdiggler5164 Před 6 dny +8

      Analog gauges are better. You don't have to read them. You just have look at their position. All you have to do is see the needle position on the dial, and you've got the information. Ever wonder why airplanes still have so many analog dials? And big rig trucks? That's why

      It might just be Triumph is using that cluster on their test bike to get all the information needed. The double clock actually has to little information if putting say a six axis IMU on the bike and making a RS version. It would be sweet though if they preserv the current day 1200 as well.

    As somebody who’s hovering over the “buy button” on the Street/Speed Twin 900, I hope this is a just a flashy variant. The whole appeal of the 900 to me is its simplicity of its lines and its relaxed atitude, whereas this looks a bit shouty. I’m not keen on the T100 because it’s trying to look like an old bike, whereas the 900 is an unashamedly modern bike with a classic silhouette. If I wanted sportier, I’d just go for the 1200, or one of the millions of other sporty bikes on the market. I don’t even like Triumph as a brand, I just think the current 900 is exactly what I’m looking for in a bike (apart from all the gammony Union Jack logos).

    It just seem incongruous to me---- that Triumph make their engine styling a doppleganger replica of the Triumph unit engine that dates back to 1959 (right down to the fake Amal carbs!)---- but the REST of the bike, they keep moving further and further away from classic Triumph styling. I mean the black cases, the shape of the fuel tanks, the paint schemes and colors, the tank insignia, the tire sizes, the upside down forks, the alloy rims , upswept pipes, the signal lights and headlight, instrument cluster, the front fender, etc, ET CETERA !

    I have a 2018 Street twin that is tweaked to my satisfaction.3 pot Nissin caliper,straight fit from a CB1000,Linear fork springs.14mm master cylinder up from 11mm great breaking.Drilled out the baffles from the OE exhausts,simple job,deeper rich sound especially under acceleration. Kept rear shocks,no point throwing money on others our roads make it impossible to find a good solution.Still running with cat,suits my requirements.Free spirits air filter to fit,not for any real gain but look good.18 tooth front sprocket.The bike still looks modern classic which is how i like it.Upside down forks and piggy back shocks will ruin the looks in my opinion.

    MotoBob ALWAYS delivering the good news ! 👌😎
    Never understood why they didn't give the Speed Twin 900 a 17" front wheel when they have the T100 & T120 to satisfy the old farts and hipsters going for the nostalgic look.🤷‍♂🤦‍♂
    There's going to be A LOT of good bikes with DEAD fancy and super expensive instruments in the not so far future.
    I rode a 1983 GS1100G with anolog Tach and Speedo, that bike it's 41 years old.

    the single hybrid clock looks like a step down on the 1200. If RE can do analog clocks with tech, then Triumph should also be able to. I bought my Thruxton R years ago because it encapsulated the retro aesthetic so well, and a lot of that had to do with the dual clocks. I also had the first R9T model and when the updated model came out with the classic dual clocks I immediately upgraded to that. The clocks are such an integral part of the retro styling, that going for a single hybrid clock seems like a step a little too far towards modernity. I felt the same way about the new Scrambler 1200 X, everything was fine except for the clocks. It would have been a great change if they'd just put the clocks from the t120 or the Thruxton onto it. Obviously, I'm not buying any of them and I'm just voicing my opinion on these, but it feels as though Triumph is beginning to move in a weird direction with their bikes. the Daytona 660, the Scrambler 1200 x, these prototype speed twins. They just don't have the same presence and vibe as their predecessors do. Yes, they've added a lot of new goodies, but the feeling isn't there. I guess it's to make them more accessible and reach a broader demographic at the expense of a little bit of character.

  • @AlexOnABoat
    @AlexOnABoat Před 6 dny

    It's no surprise that the Speed Twins were next in line for an upgrade, compared to the new 400s and the Scrambler 1200 they were looking a little long in the tooth, no doubt the Scrambler 900 will follow along soon enough, if only to rationalise the range.
    What I see here is Triumph making more of a difference between their modern classics the Speeds & Scramblers and their retros the Bonneville T100 & T120. Hence the switch to upside down forks, greater connectivity and sadly the big single screen with the rather half hearted attempt at TFT dashes. If you're going to go that way, then give us a selection of desktops, so we can have a sweeping virtual needle if we want.

    Beside the rear shocks upgrade I hope they make the 1200 a little bigger in overall size so that it fits also for riders above 1.80. E.g. a bigger fuel tank, lifting up the whole front with the dash to give more of a super bike feeling. And last but not least the twin semi analog clocks must stay.

  • @ripmax333
    @ripmax333 Před 6 dny

    As a very happy and proud owner of a first generation Street Twin 900 I hope what I see is just an RS version of the 900 which may replace the Street Cup. PLS Don't get me wrong, it's not that I'm against improvements like upside forks or a digital gauge etc, but I love the street/speed Twin 900 as it is just because it doesn't have such fancy tech and yet it's still modern but looks Retro in a perfect blend. If I wanted upside down forks and digital dash I would probably got a Ducati scrambler but I didn't.
    I admit tough that the front headlight looks better and an aluminum rear swing arm could also help to shave some kg away from the motorcycle making it a bit lighter which it will always a welcome improvement, but I hope its just an RS version and that's it which I'm sure it will be a nice addition to the 900 series for those who feel that a 1200cc would be just too much.

    It took me a year to make changes to the front and rear suspension, get the right sound and performance out of the intake, engine and exhaust, by deleting the airbox and installing a high flow filter, professionally tuning the engine, deleting the cat, finding the perfect headers and end cans to really make this 270⁰ twin both sing freely and stir the soul of the enthusiast.... verex of Tasmania, Australia headers straight through to British Customs Predator pro end cans achieved this outcome... and gave 18% more torque and about 12% more HP throughout the entire rev range up to redline.
    If Triumph could achieve this, or at least some of these gains out of the box, I think it could only broaden the attachment to a lustworthy ride.

    Why not something like a speed twin or xsr 900 with 150hp?

    Every company needs an RS version of the base bike. That would save some real money in the farkel department.
    Clocks? I look at large screens all day. Not impressed with most digital screens on motorcycles. Twin clocks are just elegant. Provide a tuning app for my phone and I will be fine. I tweak my bike settings every few years, otherwise I just ride.

    Changes that customers are asking for … like price reductions, centre stand as standard, a useful rear rack as standard, and if we are talking tech, cruise control included in all. But if they are just adding tech and raising the price then I’ll find something else.

    I love everything about the speed twin 1200 but its so expensive. I rather have the st900 but cant stand that low seating position. Why do they always make lower seats when lower the cc such as the 900. Many shorter riders can handle the 1200 sadle and the 900 its not a beginner bike anyway. If the prices go up and up in prices and insurance cost one way is to go down in cc but you cant if you are like me 6’2. Then you have to go to other brands. Come on Triumph not every larger/longer rider needs the highest cc or can afford it. Time to change your business model

    I can't blame Triumph for going modern. People say they want "retro bikes" But the truth is, people don't really want pure, gutsy, mechanical motorcycles. People want bikes with quick shifters, and cruise control, and ride modes, and Apple Car Play, and 2 cup holders, and phone connectivity so they can get even more hooked up into the matrix. The public wants "retro" bikes that do pretty much everything for you but wipe your arse and tuck you into bed

  • @jaide1312
    @jaide1312 Před 6 dny +1

    Honestly throwing the cheap shitty trident dash on the speed twins is a massive downgrade, the analog dial is one of the major leg ups it has over the Moto Guzzi V7 Stone, throwing that away is just a dumb move. The only technology a bike like the 900 should have is the legally required ABS, the appeal of a bike like this to a lot of people is to get away from all the unnecessary nonsense you get on most modern bikes now.
    I hope they're just throwing this dash and headlight on for testing purposes like on that test bike for a potential Daytona 765, it'd be out of character for Triumph to drop the ball on details like this that they normally always nail on their retro's.
