- An HONEST Review After 5,000 Miles on the Harley Street Bob 114! I've had my Street Bob 114 now for over 5,000 miles so its time to give some of my honest feedback on everything relating to the bike so far. I will give my honest opinion on everything I have experienced with the bike so far!
Follow us on Instagram: @themotojawn
I’ve ridden the Street Bob 114 a few times. My brother and my sister-in-law both bought one. Neither had their license until a short time after buying the bikes. So, I rode their bikes home for them. They live about 1 1/2 hours away or around 70 miles. I know that’s not 5k miles, but I enjoyed the ride. I rode backroads with some good curves in the roads. It rode great!
Bought a 2023 street bob end of june this year. just turned 5,200 miles. I think your assessment is pretty accurate. I have S&S slip-ons and a S.E. tune, and I think the power is way more than adequate. I can spin away from a stop light ( and I am not a light person). but the power is a bit much in the rain with the stock tires. I can break traction at will in the rain. Changed out the stock seat (which is so bad it should be illegal). have 8" risers and 3" bars. great setup. I also put thrashin mini boards on it to move my feet back. they really make a big difference. it is my daily commuter bike (43 miles each way in and out of DC). Having said all that, when it comes to a longer distance ride (like 400 miles or so) I still take my 2004 dyna low rider. I think it just fits me better and I'm not a fan of the monoshock. great videos. keep up the good work.
Right on thanks for tuning in 👍
I'm @ 7600 miles and still Digg this bike. I just installed commander III tires on and transformed the riding experience. Long story short I recommend the commanders over the stock Dunlops. I too installed the spc 2-1 exhaust. I can just say I'm very happy with the smoothness that I did't realize that I was missing. I sounds great too. The handle bars will be next. Thanks for your review
I'll have to kook into the tires
I bought this bike 12 months ago and have 14,000 miles on it. Absolutely love it! Installed the tab zombie pipes on it and just had the Stage IV M8 131 upgrade installed on it along with tuner and upgraded clutch. I also installed a tank lift, removed all the padding in the seat and replaced it with gel and put a rear pillion rack on it for the bag and just installed the kahuna heated grips (can't belive I didn't start using heated grips years ago). That stage IV is a bit thirsty along with more power and more sound as well (along with a bit more heat radiation). A 114 in this bike was enough, but the 131 is a bit beastly for it. Love the design of this thing.... has a nice retro look off the rack. I'm very surprised that this bike isn't more popular..... I ride more than the people that call this a barhopper. I'm a super big fan of naked bikes..... and this one is fun, fun fun!
@2wheelsruben are you really asking if you go from a 107 to a 131 with tuning? Lol just ride the bike, learn some shit before you worry about that, from the sounds of it you're pretty new.
Love that you are honestly reviewing bikes! Helps me out for when I'm ready to get a bike, the only thing is your intro is quite long.. it took you 4 minutes to say the same thing of having the bike for 5k miles, but not actually getting to the experience. That's my only feedback, still love your videos! Keep making more!
Bought the 23 in March my first bike watched a few vids on how to shift n sent it lol I'm about 5600mi and doing burnouts n wheelies had a few slams she's still a beast lol love the bike
My 2022 is two years old this week. 24,000 miles. Changed fork seals at 12000 and replaced gas cap. I also have drilled three half inch holes in each baffle and removed all the fiberglass. Here in Houston the bike runs hot wished it had liquid cooled heads but when it's cooler at night it goes good. I found it handled really good when I open it up in corners with the resulting slide quite predictable and smooth. I like it more than my old2012 twin cam 103.
owned a brand new 2022 bob for a few months - love it, it's an experience every time i get out on it, it has character - i went with big radius exhaust, blacked out the forks, put on flush mount fuel cap, saddlemen step up.. i'm keeping all the stock parts if i ever upgrade to a low rider ST
I need to get that fuel cap
Do you find your sluggish at lower rpm like 1st and second of the line my 2020 is In definitely looking into a woods cam for off the line torque I was also thinking about the Hd tourqe cam just so I did t have to by a aftermarket
Tuner bud what’s your thoughts
Thanks for your review. I dig the Street Bob, I'm lookin at the 2022 Street Bob. I do agree with you on the tank. At least bump it up to a 4 gallon tank. 👍
Right on go ahead give a test ride
Good information. Thank you for the review!
What do you think of the apes? I found the hand position of the apes super awkward because they’re not very high but also not very low. Switched to risers with mid bend bars and the comfortability in the hands and arms is great. Just need a higher seat now as I’m still with the factory one.
Yeah not the biggest fan of them. Probably go to bars with pull back
I said in an earlier post that I was thinking about a Streetbob and was on your journey. Well, I picked it up a few days ago and absolutely love it. I’ll tag you in an insta post, I think you’ll love it bro.
That's awesome. You're gonna love it. Ride safe
Two years of ownership of a 21 SB. No issues (knock on wood). Rolled 12k. Looking for new tires.
Love to hear it 👍
As far as fork seals go, with those fork gaitors, you won't know if you have an issue till you notice significant front end dive. I like the way they look and that they protect the vulnerable part of the fork tube from sand and rocks and shit. Also keeps road debris from prematurely wearing the fork seals. That said the seals should last longer .
That’s not true. Fork oil will be all over the front of your bike. Happened to me , I have a 2019 street Bob .
@@gregbabcock9396 how did the oil get passed the fork gators to run down the forks?
@@charlesharper7292 it seeps out from the bottom of the fork gators every time the fork compresses then blows back onto the bike.
I’m @ 13k miles and now having to replace my fork seal for the second time. So frustrating. Replace them @ 9k. $500 at Harley.
Good review! Thanks!
2 things..what bag is that and those gloves look comfortable. Care to mention the name?
Thanks
Bag is T-bags I think they're out of business now. Gloves are biltwell bantam glove
Hey man loving the videos, I’m new here and need advice. Do think this is a massive upgrade from a Harley 48?
I'll chime in here. I've owned two Sportsters, and I'm currently on my first Big Twin, an FXST. Going from a Sportster to a Big Twin is an upgrade in power, and a downgrade in agility and cost of ownership. When I say it's a downgrade in cost of ownership, I mean you will pay more for a bigger bike. So, like everything else in life, there are tradeoffs.
great video.. so, it looks like you're the first with the Tachometer setting on the cluster. that's how i would ride it if i decide to pick one up. how do you like the use/reliability of the the Tach?
I like it seems pretty accurate to me
I picked up 22 streetbob 114 ,11,500 great deal, horse power close to 100 hp
always wanted to hit eastren state penn during the day tour. im in south jersey right ova walt whitman, stay safe riding !
Nice check it out!
Are those levers adjustable? I'm shopping levers and grips for my Lowrider and would appreciate links to a store front. Could not understand the lever model.
Not adjustable. Still great though 👌
Thanks for the info. I'm looking real hard at the Street Bob. Coming from a Sportster. Looking for an around town bike with a bit more power and comfort. I figure a new seat is a given, but since highway would be the exception I think I'd skip the windscreen. I like the minimalist/naked look. Biggest things making me hesitant to pull the trigger - gas tank capacity (actually 1 gallon less than my Sportster!), and colors. I'd probably swap the seat in the first week, and then a custom paint job. Might even consider an aftermarket tank then the paint job.
I did this exact thing. The street bob with the 114 has scratched every itch I had, and don’t really feel the need to get a low rider ST. I still wanted a relatively light Harley, but with the biggest displacement traditional style engine I could get. I put a small Memphis shades windshield on and it’s all I need to tour 400+ miles. I’m young, only 30 so I don’t need a lot of creature comforts but the softail is way better long distance than my iron 1200 was. And the 114 has ALOT more power, half the time I don’t even need the 6th gear but it’s definitely welcome if we ever get a stretch of road that clear in DFW. My 114 has a half gallon larger tank than my sporty did, it’s a negligible difference and maybe my only gripe really.
TEXAS hill country custom motorcycles has any bar and cable setup you may need. And pre-assembled with all switches and wiring .
What about the breaks? Especially the rear one?
Thanks for the review. I’m traded my 21’ street bob for a 2020 48’ sportster. I have a herniate disc in my lower back and two bad shoulders, one with a severed bicep tendon. I thought I might try some long trips, but it became apparent that 100 miles was about all I could take in a day. So downsizing a little knocked off slightly a100lbs of manhandling weight. With that said, I believe you have a sportster too. So maybe with your knowledge you could fill me in on finding a bigger gas tank, by at least a gal more above my 2.2 present capacity. I know, with my previous comment why! I go out to my daughters houses frequently to visit and thats one way 35 and 50 miles either or. On my way home or there I have to stop and fill up, which some times is inconvenient. It’s not a critical thing, but it would make things a little more relaxing. Thanks!
Yeah I think any other sportster tank should fit since the frames are all the same. Maybe the old 4.5 tank if you find one
Thanks-I’ve had so many contradictions on that, I’ve had to navigate slowly and do my homework.👍🏻
IIRC, the 4.5 gallon tank was found on the EFI 1200 Roadster and the Custom models. Go to the dealership and grab the Parts and Accessories catalog, and if they still offer the tanks they'll be in there. I thought about getting the bigger tank for my 2005 Roadster but I would have had to change the seat to a Custom seat.
I have the 2023 street bob. Did you all notice the shifting had a slight clunk at times and the small chatter in the engine?. Back when I had my break in oil change I asked Harley about it they said its common on these 114's so just clarifying...mind you I went from a 2000 superglide to a 2023 street bob so I was use to an older platform. This is my first Milwaukee engine
The shifting clunk is normal. Not sure about any engine clatter never had that
@TheMotoJawn gotcha might need to look in to it...either that or I'm crazy lol thanks a lot
I’ve put Ten thousand miles on my bike in three months.. changed a lot.. changing more got a custom tank different rear fenders drag special seat. Grips crashbars bags sissy bar you name it I’ve messed with it third set of tiers second set of brakes.. will be flashed tuned and cam will be done once the warranty runs out on the drive train..
Great review. Would you reccomend forward controls or ar the mids comfortable? Thanks
I like the mid controls for better handling but I'm also shorter
Thanks for your take. Ride safe bro
i have same problem with gas cap i bought a g skull willy cap and it still vibrates lmk if you find a solution i have 2 caps that rattle now lol
Yeah I have no clue how to fix it lol
I've got a 07 FLHRC I love my king. Looking for something light and fast for around town.
Good review here
How has ur seat broken in?? Finally bought the Kickflip for my SB an hour ago. What type of bag is that??
I've had it over 5k miles it remains pretty stiff lol. The bag is and old brand T-bags I think they're out of business
Harley-Davison will replace the gas cap under warranty. They replaced mine when I had the same problem.
Is it still using engine oil?
Is the 114 too much power for cruising at 25-30 mph in city/suburban traffic? Does the bike buck in lower gears when your turning at lower speeds? Thanks!
Nah it's fine 1st and 2nd are fine for me in city traffic
Thank you Jawn!
Now how many miles were on the bike???
My big worry with the Street Bob is the fuel capacity and leg room. I also wish it came with a better gage package, though at least it hasn't got the speedo on the tank, and that's a plus.
My 22 ( hold over ) I bought under 3 months ago with 7 miles on it. Blew the right side fork seal at 764 miles.
Darn was it covered under warranty?
@TheMotoJawn yes it went in Monday, and it's still there. They had to order parts is what I was told.
Same thing happened to mine
2011 Fat Bob front seals 3 times , now the real problem is the fluid going all over those shiny cheap front forks , black wheels, your front brake master cylinder will start to leak and eat the black coating, AND MAKE SURE THEY DONT CHIP THE BLACK OFF THE FRONT FORKS REMOVING THE BOLTS AND PUTTING THEM BACK ON, AND IF THEY DO YOUR ONLY ALLOWED ONE REPLACMENT FREE
Obsessed with mine still. More so since I did my California delete and re-tune. It’s exceeding my expectations
Nice! 👍
What’s the ca delete? I’m buying one this weekend.
Thanks for the review, I'm in 2 minds as to whether to buy the the 114 bobber, or go for the Indian sport chief or scout rogue, the price in Europe for the bobber is just over $21000.
I'd say give them all a test ride
That would be the normal thing to do,but where I live nothing is normal, in the last 4 years I have brought and sold 8 motorcycles for various reasons, mostly down to poor motorcycle shops with poor people running them. On top of that getting a demo motorcycle is like looking for hens teeth, or you have to pay a large premium to test ride a motorcycle. I think it's time to leave this place.
A great day to ride in Penna today!
You know it 👍
What brand is the luggage bag you have on the back there mate ?
T- bags I think they're out of business
you had me at JAWN
Philly Philly
No rattle on my stock gas cap (2022 street bob).
Lucky
Am I gonna regret getting rid of my street glide for this, I don't do much touring.
I got rid of my Road King Special and I'm looking at this. I wanted something not so heavy. Plus this has the same engine.
Great review
I bought my 22 street Bob and now have 28k miles ..
Love it but painting tank and did lots of custome work
What brand is the fairing and where do you purchase it from
Memphis shades. Road warrior model
The 13 litre fuel tank is mostly useless here in Australia. I like the Street Bob but needs a bigger tank, upside forks and maybe a 117, dual disc brakes.. Hmmmm so maybe a Low Rider ??
How many miles?
Got a '21 and out about 12k on the odo, traded it for a Road Glide, sure do miss my FXBB. Just not the bike, for me, for long distance. otherwise they're GREAT rippers!
Yeah long distance is really a commitment on the fxbb lol
There is a beautiful stock dual tone red one with no graphic at my local Harley that I want to grab
I'm considering streetbob 114 vs low rider S... which one should I pick?
Street Bob if you want to customise your bike and make it your own. You can do so much to it.
The Road Glide of course 😆. Don’t waste time and money on flying brooms like street bob and others.
Just bought me a 23 a few weeks ago I'm around 1700mi. And it's pretty good
That's awesome you're going to love it
How tall are you?
How’s the seat on the 23 model?
The gas cap sucks! I shoved o ring material in there, has a gap where it rattles. It also gets more noisy if you're running low on fuel.. maybe the float in the tank? Eh more gas fixes it. The stock riding position does suck. I have forward controls, back order wait of 4 months.. changed my seat 3 times and different bars. The stock bars flex, takes away the feel of the road. I suggest risers for you, maybe t bars.. makes a world of difference, Ride on brother, to the sound of thunder, rev under any underpass. Let out a laugh.
The cap is terrible haha
@@TheMotoJawn it does.. but I put a live to ride, ride to live..on it, and it's the same gas cap I had on my basket case, 1976 Harley sx250, I built when I was 14..well same size not thread.. nostalgia.. so I shoved o ring material in the gap. If you grab the plastic threaded part, and move the cap.. you can see a gap. Oring material.. or just get the flush mount cap, those are pretty cool.
@@TheMotoJawn Broo!! Get the k and n drop in filter requires no tune. 90 bucks. I was pleasantly surprised. The low end gets even more crazy, but smoother. I know it's off topic.. but I just got one and thought I would share.
Is this a comfortable ride for someone who's 6'1?
Could be might just want forward controls
I think you may want to check on the horsepower again
very fair review ;;
So....how many miles on the bike and how many miles are yours? Must have missed that.
He said just over 6200 with about 5200 his actual miles
Get to the point
Yeah! 😂 Look like he's joking
Hey with a year and 5000 miles on his bike he will get there just give him about a year and 5000 miles and you’ll get the info you’re looking for.
Did he mention he did 5000 miles? 😂
Your experience! My experience in watching this video is so boring. Go straight to the point dude.
Agreed. Most people who are from PHL get to the point quickly, like in NY. Our friend here apparently is originally from somewhere else. 😊
I wonder how many miles he put on it…
What sort of miles where you getting between fill ups on longer trips.
Could like 150ish
I picked 22 streetbob 114 lighter blue color
Nice work you will love it
Mr boss for the win here
He starts giving the review at 3:20pm...
Is this bike throttle by wire?
Yes
God damn, dude. Professional yapper over here.
That exhaust needs to be black
Six thousand, two hundred miles.
mag wheels, fork rubber and tank decals are so ugly. I hope they go back the the pre 2018 look soon.
I can't stand the look of this iteration. I guess I just prefer the dyna models.
A lot of people like the dyna best
Bro said “T Bars”💀💀
3 min into the video and he has yet to say a single thing about that bike
Bro, if you said one year and five thousand miles one more time. Get to the review.
That has as much or more power than baggers.
The bars should be buckhorns with the grips following the natural position of your wrists. These modern Harleys are NOT what i call "
speed bikes." They are not the kind of bikes that make you WANT to push them because it feels so GOOD when you push them hard at speed. They are the OPPOSITE of that. They make you want to go SLOW because they feel horrible the faster you ride. The bars are awkward if not downright unwieldy. They do not point naturally where you are going and they don't feel centered when you are pointed dead center. The pegs are WAY too high and make you feel off balance. Which is why lots of guys put on seats that literally come with a built in backrest. Otherwise you fall backwards when you gas it. Anyway if you clean up all the terrible ergos and get a big Harley to fit you and feel like a "speed bike" then you discover the magic of waltzing around with the "Big Plus Size Girl." She's quite a ride buddy! But get those horrible ergos figured out at the factory sometime. Why should they be this awful on a $20,000 motorcycle? It amazes me. Is this too much to ask?
Omggg this guy literally keeps jumping round with this video
That’s a stock street bob. Get some mods done!!!
Like what else
@@TheMotoJawn bars, 2-1 pipe, seat, shorty levers if you’re into that, headlight, LED conversions for signals, new air intakes motor work
List goes on and on!
Those bars mad ugly. Would get trashin t bars
Hopefully coming soon
In my honest opinion, over 4 minutes in and nothing of substance…I’m tapping out.
I can hear the vibrating
ive had most Harleys. with price and vibration ,now cheaper looking ,dealership I went F6B HONDAwaynbetter should have bought yrs ago. its like a Ferrari instead of a horse and buck board
Same here. I've owned 3 Milwaukee vibrators and now drive a Honda VTX 1800R.
truly a hidden gem yrs ahead of harley and less the half then prices and will go 500K miles at100 mph all day 45 mpg smooth as silk cruise control best sound ive ever heard on a bike first leg on mine was 10 hrs non stop but for gas food and didn't want to stop ,rain ahead so tacos and margaritas from Dallas to san Diego on any of my Harleys 4 hrs and im done love this bike
Wtf 😂…mumbojumbo
You spent 5 minutes saying that you're giving an honest review. The title says that we'll enough... gotta learn to get to the point...
Jesus christ man, 4 minutes and 25 seconds before you said anything meaningful. Wayyy to long winded
I would make the case nothing meaningful was said 😂
5 min of the video and not even close to the point, bruh, you need to improve your presentation skills
That bike looks soo basic for the money paid.
It literally took you four minutes and fifteen seconds of repeating yourself over and over again before you said anything. If I started a drinking game of “experience” and “1 year of ownership” I would have passed out drunk seven times before you stopped repeating yourself. Get to the point. It’s a nearly 20 minutes video and you spent 25% saying absolutely nothing.
4:15? surprised you even made it that far 😂
@@TheMotoJawn Well I had a ‘09 Dyna 96in TC FXDB and was curious how the new ones are doing cuz I still love the style. Once you got to the point, I enjoyed the video. However, getting there was a pain and I’m not the only one who noticed. You got the skillz, just hone them.
Fucking redundant
Seriously, GET TO THE POINT!! I gave up. Waste of my time.
5,000 miles is nothing. Put 50,000 on the bike and then get back to me.
Can't get to 50,000 without 5,000
I've had my sportster for less than 2 years and it's already at 40k lol
Do you also live in a cave?
blahh blah blah waist of 5:34 of time I can never have back! Couldn't take any more! Get to the point!
Moto Yawn
Can't really give a honest review till you ride it cross country.
Dude never make a review your a leg puller not a real person
Your losing me man. Get to the point. You keep repeating yourself 😂
There is no point 😂
You got that right 😂
HD fanboy 👎
How the hell did you say the same thing 5,000 different ways in 5 minutes
Sorry, 4 minutes in and I wanted to frisbee my phone out the window 🫣
