I dont knowxwhy anybody would want a cruiser. Not dishing on Harley. But all cruisers. They were the thing back in the 40s and 50s. All other motorcycle styles will do what you want, only better. There is no advantage with cruisers. And I have tried and tried to like them, but I find them second rate to all other bikes out there. If motorcycles went to high school, all the other motorcycles would be calling cruisers dorks.

I just bought a Honda rebel 500 which is roughly a similar bike. I had a sportbike before and the whole point is... how many hours are you going to drive in a day? If you travel a lot a cruiser (maybe not a harley, they costs way too much, I agree on that) is going to be the thing that you're gonna praise after a 2 hours ride! Yeah, I have done 5 hours on my CBR but... I'm nearly 27, I'm getting old. You like fast? Sport bikes! You like nimble and twisties? You buy naked! You like offroad, you got multiple choices! You do a lot of mileage per day? You buy either a touring or a cruiser. Cruisers gives the same package of a touring bike but more compact. I have done some research and tries, I had that CBR for nearly 10 years by now. There is a bike for everything and for everyone. PS: yes, they kinda don't want to turn at speed, you need to get used to that, but for comfort it is a tradeoff I want to do. I have to drive 1 hour and 45 to get to work every day. Thank god I work only 4 days a week.

I think Yammie is disqualified or dead wrong to compare a Cruiser Fat Bob to other bikes like Tuano… he also has no clue about what he is reviewing… he only know the HP Is what drives the price … Tuano is good for all the good reason but it’s a different ride…just the blacked out treatment of Harleys metal parts will cost( what are the cost of aftermarket lever on any sport bike) …HP is not what you need if you want to cruise ( highways or local street )…you just cannot have a comfortable pillion in many of the sport bikes he is talking about .. so it cost a lot for a single person to travel… also those sport bikes does handle good with pillion ( you feel the rear end is top heavy)… so Harley serves a lot of other purpose … now he is comparing a liquid cooled engine with air cooled ( height of ignorance- how can a air cooled longer stroke - torque heavy engine act like a liquid cooled engine - short stroke engine)… Yammie is dead wrong here … Harley parts are top notch fit and finish ( it will cost )… also manufacturing is USA is not cheap for good( there are people employed)…. Metal not cheap… he is comparing apples to orange… he should have compared a fat bob with BMW r18( which he will have set BMW R18 is a winner - he runs this vlog on unnecessary bias toward Harley-Davidson and it’s offering)

As long as its got an engine and a wheel front and back you can still have fun.
Had some great fun even on a Honda 50 ( did a 2500 mile road trip in the 70s )
If people are swapping bikes every few thousand miles , its seems to me its all about the bikes and nothing to do with the ride

I share the same sentiment. Price can dictate though. However, I had a Suzuki GSX-S 750 and I looked at reviews for the bike. The reviews didn’t really seem indicate that the bike was much good. HOWEVER, the bike was extremely fun to ride and cornered decently well. I would honestly have no problem having that bike for life.
It’s funny how people find a reason to get another bike when their current bike is no problem (other than practicality).

So, as a fat bob owner ( 2021, same red color as well) I can give some insight to the bike. It is most defiantly too expensive for what you get, but you honestly have to want that kind of bike for it to really work for you. The reason the bike wants to buck with you and stand back up is because it has a fat front tire. The aftermarket avaliability is really poor as well for customization. If you love how Harleys make power, you’ll love them. If you don’t, then they’re just overpriced meh. I’m a 4-cylinder kinda guy myself, but I do like the Ultra Classic for touring. The Fat Bob doesn’t really fit any role for me. It does look good, but not $20K good.
I would like to second Yam’s idea of lining up a CVO with a Goldwing and comparing those. I already know Yam will prefer the Goldwing and Spite will *probably* prefer the CVO. Maybe they can make a touring adventure out of the comparison. Just my thoughts.

First things first, I take Yammies opinions on Harley’s/cruisers in general with a grain of salt. He’s not a cruiser, he races, he doesn’t appreciate this style of bike because it’s not his style. He’ll grow up some day. As I get older, I don’t see the point of needing a bike that makes 150 hp at 15,000 rpm, that is completely useless on public roads… PS, I don’t/never have owned a Harley myself, but I do appreciate the simplicity of them. The reason people buy them is they are simple, less tech is what some people want. Solid hunk of steel rolling down the road, plus the fuel injected twins, especially modern Evo’s and M8’s, are extremely reliable long term. No valve adjustments will be needed, only fluid you need to change is the oil. Brakes, tires, belt/chain maintenance is basically it… is the Indian Chief a better option? I’d argue it is. But I still like these Harley’s for what they are, a simple, solid, made in the USA hunk of steel…

Hard to explain, maybe an example using cars would kinda explain it,,, I've driven the Tesla,it really pulls, some other sports cars, and good old Toyota, Honda's & Hyundai's but nothing, I say nothing compares to the feeling, sound and thrill of stepping on the pedal of an American muscle car like the Mustang, Hellcat etc. U have to experience it to know it. Not the Fat Bob. Harley shot that bike in the foot putting forward controls on it and ridiculous tractor tires. The front tire especially is contributing to that jerking back upright feeling your experiencing while cornering. That said, Yam’s just not ever gonna come to the dark side. Yeah I think a big part of why people like harleys is the aesthetic.. wich is funny for a bike without fairing but I get it.. I think its explained by a difference in perspective about riding like you said, it might explain why cruiser riders have a very distinc style, not very fonctional as opposed to say supersports riders where the whole outfit has purposes like aerodynamics and protection.. very different than leather flaps and a bowl helmet.
That laid back look is kinda like a visual expression of freedom, i think that aesthetic still capitalises on its history and thats why it seems to attract a certain type of person. Dont get me wrong though, feeling like you project the right image of yourself can be priceless and if harleys can help you with that, more power to you!
