- This video is how I built a headboard with a wide wooden frame, and a diamond tufted center section. The headboard also has reading lights which are cool as a fool in a pool.

A sock for finish application-genius!
Thanks Scott.
Congrats my wife is 4 months and I also have a headboard to do .. love your videos
Thank you, and congratulations to you and your wife.
Tip for cutting foam, use electric carving knife - spay blades with silicone spray for smooth easy cuts. Love the vids .
Thank you. I like the silicone spray trick.
Congrats on the addition of another shop worker!
Thank you.
Your voice is lovely to fall asleep to.
Thank you very much.
Very cool, going to show this to my wife and may copy it to some degree
Cool, let me know how it turns out.
Congrats on the pregnancy mate. Wishing you all the best
Thank you very much.
Congrats on the new addition Mike...Oh, and great video as well.
Thank you George.
I also wanted to say that most guys, not production shops, think their TS blades are getting dull and send out to sharpen. Most of the time just a simple cleaning and they cut like new. I clean my blades often, almost to often, clean blade makes for safe cuts as well. I like CMTs blade cleaner for all my blades and bits...
Very true. Plus cleaning will extend sharpening intervals.
Once again Mike you have outdone yourself.
Beautiful work
Many thanks!
I used to be a cabinet maker in my younger years. Watching you makes me want to do it again. You are a true craftsman! I look forward to your new videos! Keep up the great work!
Thank you very much.
Fantastic Mike. Congrats on the newest shop apprentice
Thank you very much Jason.
I'm no spring chicken, but I learn so many subtle things from you. Thank you for your work.
Thank you very much.
I see the Shop Apprentice had the day off!
Ha! Yup. I built this one quick and he wasn't in the shop much.
I liked how you used the sprinkler fitting to punch the buttons together... I used an Irwin quick-clamp and superglued a perfect sized socket to one end and the rubber button bed to the other. Had to make 70+ buttons for a client and that idea saved me countless hours of pure blissful frustration lol.
Thank you. I like the socket idea. For 70, I may have invested in a button press.
Mike. Why do you listen to music through headphones rather than blasting it out in the workshop? Love your channel mate. Always learn something even though I’m a seasoned uk carpenter! 👍👍👍
I use noise canceling ear phones. After years of construction I've lost a good chunk of hearing out of my right ear. I'm not a real safety nut, but I like my ear protection. Plus, if I'm wearing hearing protection I can't hear myself sing.
The head board looks very professional 😃👌👏👏👏👏
Thanks, so far its been a nice addition to our room.
accidental slow pan shot was dope!
That one worked out pretty good.
I don't even have a workshop or any power tools but I enjoy watching your channel, learnt a lot. Thanks for all those step by step explanation through the whole process in your projects.
Thank you very much. Happy to hear you find the videos enjoyable.
Upholstery is not something I would have expected to see on a woodworking channel but it makes perfect sense. I wouldn’t mind seeing more, as it definitely piqued my interest. Love the channel, keep up the great work!
Thank you. I'm happy you found it interesting.
Congrats on the baby news.
Thank you!
Congrats on the baby

Just brilliant stuff, as always! Your whistling must have been Tears for Fears - Head Over heels?
Thank you. Yes, that is correct.
As always, everything is top notch.

Thank you, Mike, for sharing this. I want to learn this from a few weeks and now I get how to do this. Very enjoyable:)
Thank you. Give it a shot, its not too hard.
You make it look so easy. It looks amazing thou.
Thank you.
The jobs are good un mate I'm upholsterer and I knew exactly what you are going to do . But the combination between wood working and upholstery you did in that video is just great . Lots of people may find it useful so I'd like to see more videos like this in CZcams . Educational and very well presented wee video congratulations for the job well done .
Thank you very much. I like the mix of mediums as well.
Congratulations Mike and your wife on becoming parents again!

Beautiful work! I love the "Sprinkler Move!" Nice patience with the upholstery; you must be a great parent!
Ha! Thank you. I try to be a good parent, its not easy.
Congrats on the addition to the family. The headboard is beautiful.

Yet again Mike, a superb job, attention to detail is outstanding.
The touch lights take it to another level.

Barney.

Wow, so nice piece of headboard.
Thank you.
First things first... Congratulations!
Second: your words of encouragement in regards to taking the plunge and just going for giving upholstery a try couldn't have come at a better timing. Thanks for sharing your awesome skills with us!
Thank you. Give it a shot. Upholstery is not that hard. A little practice and you'll be a pro.
I have been watching your videos and I have come back to some of your videos to watch multiple times. This is one of those videos. I really appreciate you taking the time and effort to creating such amazing content.
Thank you very much. Happy to hear you find my videos useful.
Mike, what a fantastic video! The quality of your work and videos is what I appreciate most. I love the tufting (TIL).
Thank you very much.
amazing video! love all the tips you give throughout all your videos. keep up the good work mike!
Thank you very much.
It is really beautiful! Always nice to look at your videos and listen to all your knowledge sharing! Thank you.
Thank you very much.
I really like the way you folded the material around the buttons. So professional
Thank you. The folding is a must, I think it doesn't look good if that isn't done just right.
You do excellent work! This is on the honey-do list and now I have an idea of how to actually do the upholstery aspect of it.
Thank you. The upholstery is pretty easy. The hard part is getting the layout measured and marked correctly. Buy enough fabric to do a couple test runs, by the end of the second test run you will know what you are doing.
the buttom of the bucket, genius!
Thank you, that is a neat trick.
Congrats to the Farrington's, happy news. Thanks for posting as I am interested in doing something similar.
Thank you very much.
Great video Mike. And congrats to you all on the baby news. Another shop apprentice for the future perhaps? What about a Crib project?
Thank you very much. No crib project, we have a crib from the last one. Plus a crib is used for such a short time period. I will build some baby type projects, but it will be for things that are used for a longer period of life.
Beautiful!!! Congratulations!!
Thank you and thank you.
Congratulations, Mike.
Thank you.

Thank you. I am working on another one. It will be out soon.
The shot where you didn't tighten up the camera turned out awesome!
Funny, I looked up a the camera and thought, didn't get that shot. Then I looked at the footage and was pleasantly surprised.
Another awesome video! Love the nature shots thrown in. That was tears for fears you were you were whistling.... took me a few mins but it finally came through. 😂. Now I have that song in my head! Thanks. 🙃🙏🏼
Thank you. Thats not the worst song to have in your head.
I've been doing woodworking for a couple years now and I really appreciate how well you explain your process. If only I could do a mentorship under someone with your caliber of work! I'm definitely just a hobbyist, but I turn to a lot of your projects when I have questions or projects in mind. Keep up the hard work Mike!
Thank you very much. I will keep cranking out the videos.

Thank you so much!
I'm a simple man. I see a Mike Farrington video: I watch and I like.
First off: congrats on the good news!!
Very impressive work and (as always) a great eye for detail.
One little trick I picked up previously with upholstering a headboard (or seat for that matter) is when you're about to staple the perimeter, some people like to put a sheet of plywood on top, clamp it down a bit so that the foam compresses a bit and then staple the perimeter. This way you get a bit more tension on the fabric and might feel a bit firmer, if that's what you want.
Great work!
Thank you. The plywood tip is a great one! I'll give that a go next time.
Wow! You are a man of many talents! Great job, and congratulations on the family expansion. Thanks for sharing this. I always enjoy your videos. Happy holidays.
