- Hey guys!!! I did one more project during my time in back home in Wisconsin. I made with custom tufted headboard for my dad. This was a fun and fairly easy project to do and only took me a few day to get done. I started out taking a 3/4 inch piece of ply wood and cutting it down to the desired height and width of the headboard that I wanted. Then from there I mapped out and measured where all the buttons were going to go (in a diamond shape). Then from there to make this headboard I added a 3 inch thick piece of foam (foam mattress topper). I cut the excess foam off so that it matched the height and width of the ply wood. Since all those buttons I mapped out were covered up I took a long upholstery needle and poked that up through the plywood. This let me know where all the button holes were so I could mark that with a sharpie. Then taking a 3/4 inch hole saw I cut holes into the foam at the indicated areas. After all those holes were cut out in the headboard I added batting on top of the foam and stapled it in place. Then using that long upholstery needle I poked at the foam to find the holes in the foam. Covering the batting with the fabric for this upholstered headboard. Using some thick polyester thread I sewed up from the plywood, into the fabric and then back down. That pulled the fabric down into the hole in the foam. Then from there I stapled the thread in a zigzag pattern in the back to secure it. Once the tufting was created I made some fabric covered buttons and then added that to the headboard. This finished off the Diamond tufted area. To finish off this headboard I made a frame and uphosleted it. Then attached it to the Diamond tufted area to complete with Diamond Tufted Headboard!!!! YAY!!

Thanks so much! :)
This is really beautiful and your dad is so cool 😂
Haha oh no don't let him see this comment! 😂😂😂 and thank you so much! 🥰
My dad was like that. My husband aggravates me to no end at times. You did a marvelous job. I love it.
Haha! And thank you so glad you like it!!!
Another tip with staples is to spray paint them the same colour as the fabric used so they aren't so noticeable.
Oh that's clever! haha love the tips keep them coming! ☺️☺️☺️
The headboard came out beautiful
Oh thank you!!! :)
The frame definitely made this piece. Love it. Nice work 👏🏻 👌
Oh thank you so much! I totally agree it really came together with the frame! 🥰🥰🥰 thanks so much for watching!
Wow, you are so talented, a jack of all trades. I would love to make this headboard. I would love to be able to make all of the stuff you create, I love your mams room too, your channel inspires me. I have an apolstery stapler. But I've no idea how to put the staples in ha ha xx 😅🤣
Oh my gosh thank you so much! and you could definitely make stuff just take it one step at a time and learn a little at a time. You'll be shocked at how quickly you can pick stuff up! and also there is most definitely a video out there that can show you how to put the staples in! 😂😂😂 thanks so much for watching!
Wow. Absolutely beautiful headboard. I'm a ding dong too and passing that on to my son.
Oh thank you!!! And YES I love a fellow ding dong keep on passing it on the world needs more of us haha!!!
@@MaileyElaine lol.
I really love this!! You do an awesome job!! I’m thinking about making this headboard… but! I also want a canopy top!! Do you have ant ideas? It is a traditional arched brass canopy, I would love any advice!! Oh, it’s a double bed.
Thank you so much! I think a tufted headboard would look really nice with a metal canopy. The only thing I would change is not doing the frame like I did. And doing more of a rounded shape at the corners. And maybe even curving up in the middle just slightly. Hope this helps! :)
It fair that your dad got to be in the video.
Yeah he forced his way into the video haha
Beautiful... Can't make diamonds nice enough so they really show well...which store is your foam from...and is your favric stretchy???
Thank you so much! Foam is just from Walmart and there is no stretch in the fabric I used but all fabric is a little stretchy on the bias. 🥰
I'm really excited to try again😊😊is the foam expensive?
Wish I could do it exactly the same as urs!!
@@user-zx4zx3of6w foam in usually a little pricey but the foam I went with isn't too bad for foam... I think it was about $80 if I remember correctly
Just a trick when cutting foam. Use an electric knife.
Hahahaha….dads acting.
Right! Give that man an award
