Yup, 90% of the “Christians” I’ve met in my life(I grew up in a Christian household) are like this, and my grandmother is the worst I’ve met by far. Complete narcissist, acts all good and proper in public, but is basically an agent of Mammon in private. She saw the children she was raising(myself included) not as people she was raising to go out into the world, but as trust funds she would later be able to extract money from in her retirement. All of us were “failures” when we didn’t end up with 7 figure incomes. Funny, all the “failures” had the same narcissistic greedy person raising them. I wonder if there’s a connection there😂

The “Marine” father is a disgrace to the Marines! My brother is in the Army and his best friend is a Marine. They give each other crap and tease each other, but they respect each other! A soldier is a soldier! They all are heroes!

My parents, brother in law and I are all Marines, my older sister (married to said brother in law) is Navy and we all give each other crap on whether it's our jobs or how long we all stayed in, ECT. My dad has allergies, asthma, bad eyesight, and a few other respiratory diseases. I got them all, too. The fact that I got an A+ for P.E while wearing a mask under 100 degree heat should be an obvious reason why masks probably won't kill you.
But as the person who commented a bit above me has said, masks do make my head throb if I'm having an off day. I do hope this pandemic will end in the near future
I have a medical reason and its sad when i get questioned about it... i dont have to disclose that i mean... HIPPA is a thing for a reason. If i cant wear a mouth diaper and get sick im smart enough to keep my sick ass at home, its the ones that get sick then go out and pass it to everyone they meet. And 70% of people who've caught this had a mask on. So ... mask dont really work unless you're wearing a N95.

Like it's known that the branches tend to have some chicken fights between them but to openly state it is from what I got from other stories not taken lightly. If Op forwarded that to his superior and they pass it on there could actually be a punishment and personally I'd find that hillarious. Imagine the guy having some tough guy act within the marines and then his insecurity just spills out with them finding out about his message.

Honestly, it felt like the parent in that story is sexist who believes that real women shouldn't have short hair. I had dealt with this type of sexism when I was at primary school, but it wasn't about people claiming that I'm a lesbian, it was about a kid claiming that I'm a boy just because my hair was short. I'm pretty sure the kid just didn't understand that not all women have long hair and not all men have short hair back then.

You have the right to your feelings, and it's ok to be angry with your parents if they are shitty. Don't hold it in. Find someone to talk to. A therapist, a friend, even a stranger on the internet willing to listen. Sometimes talking things through really helps.

4:00 ok...I'm a Christian and this upsets me more than some of the other posts...we had a lesson at church that said you cant just pray for something to happen and do nothing. This also includes protection from a virus. It requires action, not just close your eyes and pray away the worries...wearing a mask may be required in some areas but that doesnt mean you can use the "I'm a christian" card...

"Have faith in Allah, but tie up your camel." That line has always stuck with me. God will help but he expects you to help yourself.

It reminds me of a story about someone who during a disaster, insisted God would save them, rejecting the help of others.
the person died and when they asked God why he didn't save them he said he sent the people who tried to help him but they had refused help.
For the marines story that is the exact conversation I had with my abuse is ex fiancé.( who’s a marine) we had this conversation when and if we had kids( was never gonna happen) he would rather see a kid in the marines or he would disown them pdq. I told if he did that I’d divorce him. He just laugh and said “ after I kick the kid out and forbid you from seeing them.” I nearly slapped him. I left not even a month later

Belief has been one of the main reasons that I haven’t given up hope for the future during this pandemic. It’s helped me to become more patient with the world, especially as I wait on a call to possibly work as a teacher this year. People who use it as a cudgel like that aren’t exactly following Jesus’s message of peace and love when they tell their child “F*ck you.” I mean, call me simple-minded, but there ya go.

Its good to know that there are people (you) who are accepting of other's beliefs and practice their own in good pride.

Omg these crazy horrible parents make me so unbelievably grateful for the amazing parents I am so lucky to have. My mom and dad love us kids to much and would do anything in the world for us. I grew up in a loving household so seeing those horrible things parents say to there kids are something I could never fathom in my life!!!!

My mum and stepdad are insane, they control me through fear, manipulation, and coercion.
Yesterday I finally decided I was done with it so I called my friend halfway across the country and asked to stay with her. Not even an hour later she bought me a plane ticket and I'm flying out on August 5th... My mum found out and told me to get out of her house then and there or she would call the police.
I told her to do it, get an eviction notice, or just wait the 10 days for me to leave and she went crazy on me over text, I might actually make a reddit account to share my screenshots but honestly I'm just glad to finally have a way out of this Hell hole and its partially thanks to this series, it made me finally realized that my family life isn't right or okay. Thank you!! 💙

This is so sad. I have two sons. They’re 16 and 13. There isn’t an hour that goes by that I’m not ridiculously grateful to whatever higher power brought them into my life. Parenting isn’t always easy but few rewarding things in life are. I can’t imagine how disappointed in myself that I would be if I spoke to my kids this way. I tell them both how much I love them every day. This world provides them with enough self doubt and apathy. They need me and my husband (their other dad) to be there for them and help them have the strength to be their best.
Both of our kids were adopted. Our youngest was very literally thrown away by his biologicals when he was about a year old. He also has severe bipolar disorder and we’ve hit some massive challenges but I love him immeasurably. He’s made me a better person and our commitment to him has made him a successful happy kid.
Kids don’t owe you anything. Your job, as a parent, is to build them into someone great. That’s not done with hate and anger. These parents don’t know their own ignorance.
