- We've had some great commentary bloopers and moments from the NHL over the years. Well in tonights Pittsburgh Penguins vs New York Rangers game, there was a funny moment where Eddie Olczyk and the TNT crew took a moment for a Public Service Announcement... They had found someones ID in downtown Pittsburgh the night before and were just letting "Jennifer" know they were sending it in the mail! I just thought it was so random and wanted to share it today. The game was a great one! We had a classic Jacob Trouba hit on Nylander, Evgeni Malkin got hit hard by Vincent Trocheck all capped off with an exciting overtime win! I cover it all in todays NHL hockey highlights recap!

I was watching the rangers game on some shrooms and when the driver’s license came up I was laughing so hard I thought he just was putting a lot of power in the word cox 😂😂

You don't necessarily have to go to DMV if you lose your license. I lost mine recently and was able to get a replacement issued from the DMV website. Of course I ended up finding it a couple days later so I wasted the $33 (plus $0.65 or so since I paid with a credit card).
Imagine this woman lives outside Pittsburgh, her husband is watching the game. Ummm, honey, why was your ID found in downtown Pittsburgh when you were at work all day 45 minutes away?

Notifying the person immediately is important, so they don't go about canceling all their cards and replacing IDs, but surely with all the resources at their disposal they could have found a better way than announcing it on TV. There's no guarantee she or anyone knows is watching, for one, and who knows how long ago they found it.
What resources would they have? Do TV studios have a magic list of people's phone numbers based on address? Seems to me that you already know the correct answer; they were trying to notify her that her DL does not need replaced. I consider this a really nice thing to do, which is to use some air time to relay this to her.

at least trocheck had the puck in his feet, malkin had passed the puck away when he got hit... I don't have access to the games but I love listening to the pens home stream radio on the NHL app and this game got me riled up just listening to those plays you pointed out.

Edzo is one of my favorite commentators. he does stuff like this all the time during Seattle kraken games. like a few weeks ago, him and John Forslund were talking about garlic milkshakes during a lull in the play. very funny guy

Went to a sens game not too long ago this year and found a wallet belong to someone that came all the way from New York to watch the Sens play the Islanders and had to mail it all the way back to Buddy, I felt so bad for him when I found it considering it had all his ID and info and he's out of the country
Worst part is that by losing his wallet, he probably had a tough time getting back across the border.

No bias. I'm a Rangers fan and that hit was no bueno. I'm honestly surprised there was no call or fight afterwards.
look, if I don't HAVE to go to the DMV, I'm not going to the DMV. Would love to have a friend tell me that my lost ID was accounted for, and save me the time and preparation of going to the DMV.
I agree, but here's the thing, what if they found it on there way to announce the game an couldn't go to where you can drop it off because they didn't have time to do so and had to get to the game. In all seriousness this is just a theory of when they probably found it on the street, who knows when they found it but regardless I would say they probably maybe could've drop it off where you can drop it off.
Trochek definitely threw a cheap shot on that third one. That was an elbow, hit from behind, and interference, take your pick. That should have been an easy call for the refs but they're struggling this year so don't hold your breath.
The only penalty or should have been a penalty between trocheck/malkin was on the goal. It was a hit from behind

They shouldn't have mentioned the name of a non-celebrity on the air. They could have just said "We have found the driver's license of a X year old girl from {city name} , and will mail it back to her". How many people lose their driver's licenses at any given hockey game? The announcement I described would narrow it down enough that the person could be sure that her license is on the way, without giving out her identity to the world.
The hit by Malkon was as dirty as the hit on Malkin, not a Rangers or Penguins fan.
The Malkin hit was legal, puck was right there. The Trochek hit was a penalty as the puck was not around Malkin. At least we won in the end.

I think that the refs made a good call not giving Trocheck a penalty because they didn’t give one to Malkin before. It’s hockey, you got to let the players play, and that’s exactly what the refs did. They let Malkin get away with his hit and then let Trocheck get away with his.

Malkin stayed down too long trying to get a penalty called. Would he have affected the outcome of the play if he got up quickly? Probably not. But because he acted like a soccer player I do not feel bad that the rangers scored.

yea potentially there could be a thousand reasons why she might not want someone to know she was in Pittsburgh this week, or that she lost her license... i reckon its rather irresponsible to announce a stranger's whereabouts on national tv.. what if an EX is stalking her? what if SHE's having an extra-marital affair.. spicy and far-fetched, yes, but objectively unprofessional IMO.
Malkin deserved it, and I’m a Pens fan over the Rangers. He did the exact same thing in retaliation to a very clean hit. Keep your head up. Common sense…especially for a veteran.

The Trouba hit I have to disagree with you on, even as a Penguins fan. I believe that was a clean hit. The second Trocheck hit though is definitely a hit from behind. I just mentioned it wasn't called on the ice and so it is what it is but also that the Malkin hit on Trocheck was seen by many as similarly dirty, so I didn't have much to say about it.
