- Last nights Penguins vs Sabres game got off to a slow start, with us not seeing the first goal until late into the 2nd. The highlight of the night for me though, was an incredible keep in of the puck by Sidney Crosby as the Sabres tried to clear it out of their zone. Surprise surprise, you make this kind of effort and it leads to goals. I cover this, Jeff Skinners nasty cross check to Jake Guentzel's face and everything in between in today NHL hockey video!
The biggest disappointment in hockey is that we haven't had an international tournament with Crosby and McDavid on the same line.
Let's hope for 2026
It's probably an unwritten rule that they don't so that the other team aren't absolutely destroyed lmfao
It would go to the beat of jazz
Well they are from different countries sooo. Ya
@@djhalfhill6109 ...they're both Canadian...
*UPDATE* Skinner is indeed out for 3 games. Thanks for watching!
Yay!
Double Yay!!
Skinner was flat out stupid!
Good, that was so damn stupid
It’s hard to take the Sabres out of the Sabres. Skinner has tiny tough guy syndrome.
Good
Wow they gave him a 3 game suspension for that? Don't get me wrong, that was dumb and totally uncalled for, but honestly we've seen a lot worse go unpunished or get less games.
As a 35 year old lifelong Pens fan, we’ve been spoiled with these subtle little plays Sid’ll make (That the vast majority of the league wouldn’t even dream of trying) seemingly 3-5 times a year. Took a second to process this one last night…going from “Damn, he stacked his pads like a goalie to keep that puck in” to “D”He didn’t just stack his pads like a goalie, but then had the wherewithal to make a backhand (damn near no look) pass the width of the ice. Far beyond grateful to the hockey Gods for blessing us with 66, 68, 71, and 87.
Not even a Pens fan, but I love watching his high IQ plays.
These little plays the Sid makes is what separates him from EVERYBODY else in his era and after
I’d say a solid 95% of the time Crosby has the puck he’ll do something subtle that leads to a great chance. No doubt one of if not the best play maker in recent hockey history
That seriously his game. He wears that "C" with pride and does everything on the license to give the Pens a chance to win. I'm not even a penguins fan but I have 100% respect for his work ethic and his preparation before games
@@timothysherman2728 always makes me wonder if he had a pure sniper his whole career he'd already be over 1000 asists. Jake the Snake has been a great winger for Crosbys 2nd half career 👏. Kuntiz was dope but a consistent RH RW with Sid and Kunitz would of been magic.
Pascal Dupius did good for himself, but he wasn't that elite hockey talent that kinda got exposed in the playoffs
This one sequence epitomizes Crosby’s whole career, hustle, talent, hockey sense and fundamentally sound!
He still plays like a kid out there
Crosby is having an insane season, he's 35 and he's on pace for over 50 goals and over 100 points.
And he better be in the running for the Hart!
@@jamesfox3478 too early to be talking Hart trophy a long way to go in the season, the only one I think is spoken for maybe the Rocket Richard think McDavids got his name written on that this year, tho maybe in Pencil as Matthews is starting to find some form he may do a push for the 3peat tho unless an injury (which I wouldn’t wish on anybody even the rat 🐀, I dont see McDavid slowing down he looks so sharp & focused this year more than any! Wish we had the hometown boy on the Leafs, and it cud so of happened in the draft it was a possibility but Oilers got the luck again even tho Marner is playing so good, why couldn’t we have got McJesus😏 how do the Oilers get the two best players to ever play the game 🤔 so far they wasting the boy from Richmond Hill 🙄 I wonder how many Cups Gretzky got by age 26🤔
Sadly he'll likely get injured again...as usual.
@@josephking8609 I’m not reading all of that damn
Joseph King learn to use periods my man.
Lol thanks for posting. I was so angry I couldn’t watch the pens broadcast because I was freaking out over that play and I knew their announcers would be says how insane it was. I’ve never seen someone go into the boards like that just to keep the puck in. Then on top of that makes the play from his knees, love Sid
Sid is truly an amazing ALL around player -- plays on both sides of the puck (offensive and more importantly, defensive)
Shout out to Skinner for winning us that game. Much love from Pittsburgh. Hope you enjoy your suspension you goof.
Not only from his knees and backhand, but it appears to me that Crosby saucers the pass! Amazing! Great catch on a great, but subtle, play.
he absolutely did
As a Wings fan Crosby is perhaps enemy #1 but I can’t deny how talented and hard working of a player he is, even at this age. He’s a guaranteed HOF’er.
This take is so cold it could cause an ice age
I feel the same as a fellow Wings fan. Dude is a amazing player. Should of have joined the Wings Sid. But even HOF make mistakes.
Man I'm a fan of both teams but its sad how mad many Red Wings fans are still mad at Crosby. Its not his fault the Wings didn't repeat in 2009. And the handshake thing.... thats just sour grapes from the older Wings vets like Draps n Lidstrom that knew that was there last kick at the can and we upset.
He was a guaranteed HOFer 10 years ago bud
@@alexj7440 Nothing else of note has happened to Wings fans in a decade and a half, give them a break. If they didn't complain about Crosby they'd have to talk about how much of a dumpster fire "the greatest team of all time" has become.
It's those little things like this that Crosby does that really stand out in his play. Stuff that most players would never think to do but that he executes excellently.
I watched that game and you're right, it's nowhere on the highlight reels. Damn good play. Crosby reppin Nova Scotia. 👌
I dont think people realize how hard that pass is. one of the hardest passes to make is a backhand cross-ice pass, and to do it from your knees makes it all the harder. insane play from start to finish
I don't really care much about sports, I know the rulesets for hockey, for football and various others, but I don't go out of my way to watch them. Especially on CZcams, because a lot of the channels I watch are people commentating and bloating via ranting barely relating to the video by way of like, seven degrees of separation.
Not this though. You made your point thoughtful, concise, and quick. You said what you wanted to say and didn't bullshit around. Just a voiceover and video of the game you were impressed by. I really appreciate that kind of concision and mindful temperance when it comes to just about anything.
You've earned a sub. Thank you for this video.
That’s what a true captain does, leads by example!
Mcdavid might be the more skilled and generational talent of a player now but Crosby is still the best of his era as far as I’m concerned.
McDavid is amazing! But Sid excels when it comes to certain intangibles that can't be recorded on a scoresheet, this is just one example of a ridiculous career-long list
Disagree
They're 10 years apart and part of 2 very different eras. Crosby was dealing with 2.7 goals per game at 25 years old , McDavid is dealing with 3.21 goals per game. You put a 25 year old Crosby in this very soft league and he would absolutely light it on fire.
Crosby has that grit that McDavid doesn't which makes him a complete player and center.
Stop comparing them. McDavid is flashy, Sid isn't at all. Sid's also a winner. Conor, not so much.
There isn't a more complete player in the league than Crosby.. he is a master of his craft in every way!
I know he's retired but what about Datsyuk?
@Hockey101thing2 He was great too.. im a Pens fan of 40 years and the cup that means the most to me is the one in 09' that beat that great wings team with Datsyuk and Zetterberg.. Datsyuk is another perfectionist
@@OldUnreliableAccount Or Fedorov for that matter. He is a great player but not the most complete.
Forsberg…
@@lifeofadamseven Two players made me sit up when touched the puck: Datsyuk and Forsberg. Forsberg made me say "Oh, no!"
Exceptional job on this video. Smooth flow from scene to scene and aligned perfectly with voice over.
Nice work.
Thank you very much!
I have a new title idea. How is NO ONE watching this channel? This is some pretty good content
I played College Hockey - Universite de Montreal, 1970~1974, often as a defense, you would lay on the ice if an opposite player committed himself to shoot so that you would protect your goalie. That was a great play from the Pens at the blue line. Thanks for the clips and the comments, Ciao, L
Saw this from a few rows up. The second I saw his effort I knew something would come of it.
True class and skill from the goat himself
Oh cool, I didn't realize Gretzky was in the building!
Forgot how physically elite athletes were back then silly me
@@YaboyreD don't have to be physically elite to be the goat.....look at Brady.
That's serious skills bro.. that's the best pass. Crossing the rink from one side to the other. You can't even say tic tac toe. You stopped at on time. And passed it like it was time so the Sydney Crosby .. thank you. You're up there with the best. Of all them. Thank you for sharing your time. In the NHL. Pulling everybody out of their seats. And you're a great one too.
I think this one deserves to be highly considered for hat picks this Tuesday. That's a very high skill level play, and on what is practically a reflexive move. And then it leads to a winning goal. Beautiful work
Overall, The Penguins are off to an amazing season, (possible playoff spot in my opinion) but as a Penguins fan we need to admire how incredible Crosby plays. Crosby is 35 and is a fantastic player. This play is one reason why he is one of the top 5 in there NHL. He really deserves it because of how he plays on the ice.
Skillful yet gritty. New school and old school coming together beautifully in this game.
Sid still has the brain advantage on most. Even at 35 hellova threat.
Than most? Sid has a higher hockey IQ than any active player, by a significant margin, and likely top 3 of all time.
You have an excellent voice for commentary keep doing this and you're going to get a lot of subscribers. You have a natural knack for this.
I appreciate it, thanks Rob!
Very nice commentary and loved the paused and highlighted stuff!
Yo great replay and commentary man! had me excited, and great work on the title it enticed me to click for sure
Real glad to hear it, it's very much appreciated!
This is why Sid is top 5 all time. Not as purely talented as Lemieux, but a harder worker. Not as smooth a genius with assists as Gretzky, but possessing an equal all ice awareness. Not as great a skater as Coffee, Perrault or Macdavid, but his edge work is phenomenal. Not as good a stickhandler as Jagr, Bure, or Ovi, but his hip and lower leg strength and puck possession are incredible. And Crosby's will to win is second to nobody except maybe Rocket Richard's, which is why he has won everything that can be won.
he will never score 50 goals a season for nine straight seasons nor will he amass 4 Cups in a row like MIKE BOSSY, the only player who matters.
Oh, and a cross check to the face could have been dealt with a lot more sensibly by getting rid of the instigator rule and letting him do to the Pittsburgh player what Clark Gillies did to Ed Hospodar. Look it up.
That reminds me, 90% of the players in today's league wouldn't be in the league if the likes of Gillies, O Reilly, Probert, Chase, Semenko, et al were around to take out the garbage.

another world class effort by Sidney Crosby
Side Note..this video is very well done. Nice job!
Crosby is a complete superstar who does not toot his own horn. When we see him do things like this video shows, we just take it for granite because he's Sidney Crosby.
Love when star players show grinder grit
really well done video and breakdown
Great vid, you just got yourself a new subscriber ✌🏼
Awesome, welcome aboard!
Red Wings fan here, so I'm not going to ooze joy for the Pens. But daaaang...Crosby's blades-to-the-wall pad-stack to keep the puck in the zone is truly remarkable. It's not the skill that's so impressive, but how at 35 he is doing something crazy by going down feet first to keep pressure up and opportunity to score.
But that crosscheck to the chops by Skinner? Ugh! Definitely deserving a fine and some pine time for at least a game. Great recap.
Sid is truly the greatest grinder of all time... it just so happens that he's also a top 5 offensive talent ever, and a top 3 defensive forward of his generation lol. We're beyond spoiled as Pens fans... it's so rare in sports to have someone so absurdly talented, who also is the hardest working person in their sport AND is a saint off the ice/court/field. Sid somehow doesn't get enough recognition/praise for what he's done every single day for nearly 2 decades
Good eye to spot that, subscribed...
great recap
love the content
Crosby literally could play blind and probably make passes like that lol, he has never ceased to amaze me. And I'd say in addition, he is probably one of the few people in the league today who is able to do just about everything there might be on the ice but with flying colors. Idk what the organization would do without him, I hope there will be someone like him and Ovi again.
It's b/c Sid is a hockey player, that means he's well-rounded and versed in all aspects of the game. He's not the type to sit atop the circle and wait for a pass, like some 1 trick ponies we know of, Achooo-(Ovechkin)-ahah em!! Excuse me, I sneezed.
Ovechkin is a boring player to watch too. He's off and on and inconsistent
Crosby never seems to amaze me..
From a Caps fan, yup... Crosby is just plain amazing.
Crosby!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
Crosby = high I.Q. Hockey plays, hockey decisions. Such a beauty.
Great job on your commentary!
As a Nova Scotian I am always happy to hear about good Sydney Crosby plays lol
I was watching this one, and from the angle, I was wondering what happened, did he lose an edge? 😆 Great home & home sweep boys!
As a caps fan, this was a fire play
Wow my favorite player doin what he does best hell of a play.
Yup, Croz still grinding out there. Using those pillows of his. What a beaut! Not a duster yet thats for sure.
I’m not the biggest fan of Crosby but with plays like this no one can deny the effort and skill he brings to the game.
Nice video. 👍💯
Wow this was a really good game!!
Skinner better get more than 1 game for that brutal attack. Personally, I think that sort of thing warrants being put out for the season. Then and only then will they stop such possible career ending attacks.
bro if you call a crosscheck to the head with no stride a career ending attack then I have a Weenie Hut Jr's that I can recommend you get some nice drinks at
Costing his team a point and grabbing a suspension is a pretty good punishment, a few more days is a decent ask, but a season? Sheesh dude there's been way worse shit in the game that doesn't get enough but I wouldn't point at this as the big offender
@@greenbean4422 I was talking about the physical assaults overall but anything to the head can be career ending. I suggest you get yours checked. You sound like a good candidate for prison regardless.
Crosby is the best of the current Era. I have met him and fortunately had him sign his rookie card and baby blue 08 winter classic jersey. He is the best 2 way player in the current day. LET'S GO PENS!!
One of the true greats.
Sidney Crosby is the best all around player in hockey. He sees the ice like Gretsky, can Shoot a wicked backhand from anywhere on the ice, and has a hockey iq of 180. Just a pleasure to watch.
oh man those sabres unis are so fire
Sid’s the man
Probably the smartest 200 foot player in history amongst the elite.
Arguably the best
He doesn't look that tall.
never was a big fan...but he is an all time great.
Skinner got hurt on that slash. Really pissed him off
crosby = legend
A nice piece of work indeed. To see who wrote the book on this, check out #4, Bobby Orr ...
This is why he’s still the best 2 way player. It’s insane
I thought Crosby was a Playmaker?
@@ShinyMew76 he is a playmaker. Nick Dailey knows shit.
Crosby has always been a second half of the season type player but he's really shinning so far!
I don't like Crosby and I never did but you can't deny his skills and work ethic. I heard him called the world's most skilled grinder. Years ago, I remember him having the winning goal on the Olympic's, Stanley Cup and All Star game.
As much as I really really REALLY disliked both Pit and Wash when I was young because both teams were all VS and NBC sports talked about. I could not stand hearing about Crosby or Ovi. I felt it was all they talked about, but this play by Crosby is the type of grit that even as a Sabres fan I noticed and said "wow" while being upset about the game still.
Sid is IMO… it’s just my opinion people, the best overall player of all time. He has done it all. Scores, playmaker, Captain, 2 way player, hits, fights (yes he’s had over 10 fights in his career and has arguably won them all) loves the game more than anyone from what I can see, yet he’s been hated his whole career and still is a class act and wants nothing but for the sport to grow. Legend
skinner actually did get a 3 game suspension
Not a big Crosby fan but that was a really good play.
how is nobody talking about how clean those sabres white pants are
I was watching this game. Best back hand in the game he has
People have never talked enough about crosby's defensive skills. He's always been able to do stuff like that. He's the reason his team has had so much time on attack for the last 15 years.
years of knee hockey kicks in
It's so interesting watching hockey fans appreciate Crosby nearly 20 years into his career. Definitely a far cry from the general opinion of him when he came into the league. I think some of the general perspective shifting is warranted; Crosby did have his moments as a spoiled young star coming into the league. But I think looking back on how some players - and most fans - treated him says far more about the NHL's fanbase than it ever did about Crosby.
don't forget that derian hatcher busted crosby's teeth out during his first game against the flyers and the refs called a penalty on CROSBY. i think it was at that point he realized what it would take to win in the NHL so he did the most Sid thing and won the game in OT.
Well said. The hate for Crosby is all ignorance, arrogantly foolish pride, and jealousy all rolled into one. He's everything a Hockey player and a Man should be. Highly Skilled, smart, dedicated, determined, tough, poised, defensively responsible, disciplined, unselfish, humble, an incredible leader, and just a downright gracious winner. Dude has faced unwarranted hate and jealousy his entire life since he was probably 6 years old and he's handled it all tremendously well with maturity and grace as well as anyone has. Absolutely Love Sid. We're fortunate to have him in Pittsburgh and we know it.
If Sid does not get serious consideration for the Hart this season then the NHL is fixed.
I was talking about it, when I watched it live
Best COMPLETE PLAYER in the NHL still and has been since his rookie season.
Pitts miss Tanev’s exuberance and fire.
great analysis,
I think we can all agree that the Sabres Goathead retro uniform looks like hell with white pants. Put on the blue pants and maybe it doesn't look horrible, but to me this uniform looks like adult-sized white pj's with racing stripes, or like a white version of a men's bathing suits from the 1920's (the ones they called union suits).
Aslo being 35 and an ex ice hockey player... Crosby makes me rethink my life decisions
This here is why Crosby gets picked over Ovi as the better of the two premier players over the last 10-15 years.
Ovie puts in this kind of effort too, the only thing that leads to picking Crosby over ovie is the amount of cups. And I think that has more to do with team makeup imo. In all honesty their both absolute beauts, both have been a treat to watch!
Picked? Who’s doing this picking?
@@Gergentine I think it's also fair to point out Ozone and Dzone starts when talking about the totality of both players' game. Ovi is primarily used in the offensive zones. He has less than 20% Dzone starts compared to many other great forwards like Crosby and McDavid who are both well over 30%. They are just more complete players. Ovi has never and will never be a 200 foot player. If he was, he would be a center, which is an exponentially harder position. If you want to talk about pure goal scoring and the best release of this generation, sure it's Ovi. But if you want to know why the Pens won cups and Ovi's teams didn't (despite all the Presidents trophies and regular season success), it's because he has never been good enough in his own zone and he's never been terrific at elevating the weaker talent on his team. Crosby made Conor Sheary a 30 goal scorer. He made Pascal Dupuis a 60 point player. Bryan Rust a point per game player. Most of these guys are try-hard guys, not top skill guys. I think there's a difference in their game.
@@Gergentine it’s like comparing apples and oranges.
Crosby is 5x the player Ovie is, was and is ever going to be ….
Crosby with a boss play there for sure and not as risky as it looks, since he was in complete control of his body.
you said Jarry wrong, still a great vid!
Crosby is def the GOAT of the modern era, ovechkin is the goal scoring GOAT but as an overall player it’s Crosby no question.
I gotta say buffalos jerseys look insane
The Wizard of Crosby
87 is nuts, best hockey player of all time imo. Just built for the modern era even at the end of his career. McDavid will be the next one. He is insane but doesn't do it all like Sid. Maybe he will some day.
