  • Today, I'm taking a first look at the Campfire writing app to see if it's something I would continue to use for the many stories I write. So far, I am a bit impressed with its layout and pricing scheme.
My published books are available on Amazon: www.amazon.com/author/michael...

In the video, you can see how easy it is to get started and the sheer number of elements that are available to help you keep track of writing your story.
For you roleplaying game enthusiasts out there, Campfire also has a lot of elements that you can use to keep track of any campaign. You can even go so far as to upload your own maps, magic systems, items, and much more. I am curious how well it would work in conjunction with Dungeon Alchemist, an RPG map-making tool you can get on Steam.
The free account is a bit limited to what I need it for, but as you can see, the cost to upgrade it past the default 25,000-word maximum is relatively cheap. In fact, overall, Campfire might be one of the most affordable writing apps for authors out there. Of course, I'll have to compare pricing and features to know for sure.
In any case, I have no doubt that I'll spend a great deal of time in Campfire as I continue to work on the Despair videos on CZcams.

You're welcome. Campfire isn't a bad platform, especially if you're into making your own campaigns in RPGs or writing fantasy.

Can this work for script writing for films or series screenwriting?

It has potential, especially if you're doing something related to fantasy or sci-fi. It's not a bad platform overall, just a bit limited in the free version. Though, it's not all that expensive if you just pay for the things you'll use. It's definitely worth trying out since you won't have to pay anything upfront.

    Is there a onetime purchase
    Not a fan of subscription😢

Campfire does have a "Lifetime" plan available. You'll have access to everything Campfire offers for $420. However, they are currently running a deal where it's only $336.
It's a bit expensive for my needs, but probably not for those who focus on fantasy writing or RPG module creations. Campfire has a lot of modules to help craft all kinds of materials.

So it's exclusively a subscription service? Not interested. I don't mind paying for things. But I'm not subscribing to software.

Yeah, unfortunately. I'm not a fan of SAAS either (software as a service). However, that's the way most brands are marketing now because they make more money in the long run.
I remember when you could just buy something outright and be done. :)

There is a lifetime purchase for each module at least as of 12/20/2023
