Step 2: Begin First Edits and Incorporate Feedback
After nearly 9 weeks of taking a break, I'm working on editing Shadows of Atlantic City. This is when I incorporate the things I need to fix that I find with the feedback from beta readers. And so far, it seems to be one of the best stories I've ever written. Thank you, Reedsy, for the Masterclass!
This is a short video update and is step two of publishing Shadows of Atlantic City. This is when things start getting quite fun, especially in the next few steps.

    Thanks a lot for going over all of these, I haven't gotten to the cons part of the video yet but I noticed that some of the features are included in Microsoft Word. With the Microsoft 365 (I hate that I need this and it needs internet connection or you'll get the robot voices) review tab, you get a pretty nice AI text reader. It also includes some very minimal punctuation & spelling helper, dictionary and thesaurus which I have found helpful. I tend to use the review comments for keeping notes as I'm not sure if there's a better way yet. I'm wondering how AutoCrit compares to Word?

    • @WriterSanctuary
      @WriterSanctuary Před 13 dny

      Unfortunately, I don't have Word nor have any interest in using it. I stopped using anything of the office suite once it went online. I know a lot of people like using it for writing a book, but it's not something that I would use. Nowadays, I think it's more out of principle than anything. Everyone has their cup of tea. Mine is sans Microsoft. Well, outside of Windows, anyway.

    I love what you said about AI content, I've recently started writing and found that AI has been great for tossing ideas around similar to when I talk to a friend about a thought. • @WriterSanctuary
      @WriterSanctuary Před 13 dny

      I will use AI for some things, but never to write text or create covers. To me, it takes away from the personality and style of the individual. If I wanted to read something from a bot, I'd read an Ikea manual. :)

    I agree about not using the AI part of Grammarly. It takes sentences out of context and will say part of a sentence is wrong when it was a word missing earlier in the sentence. And if it can't work the problem it says add the word 'and' to the sentence. I ignore it.

    • @WriterSanctuary
      @WriterSanctuary Před 24 dny

      No automated platform is absolutely perfect. In fact, I've seen a lot of professional editors butcher things because they think it's correct. At the end of the day, the only thing that truly matters is how you connect the story with the reader. As long as they're enjoying it and can see what you're trying to convey, then I'd call that a win. 😁

      Sometimes, I'll write out of order. In fact, I don't think there's a single book that I haven't jumped around a bit. If I feel a bit stuck on a scene, I'll write something that I want to happen later to help kickstart the idea. Of course, I often have to tweak and change those parts depending on what happens throughout the book. But it helps me see where the story is going while processing how to get there. I hope that helps. 🙂

    This is so helpful! Im paying for LivingWriter now and I think its time to make the switch to Reedsy as it does all the stuff I use LivingWriter for.

    hI. I've watched a few of your videos. I don't want to offend you but hope you will take this as constructively. You mumble and are at times difficult to understand. Otherwise good information

    I'm sure for most D2D is a good choice for them but unfortunately it's not working for me.

    I listed my ebooks on D2D and separately on Kobo, I've gotten more results on Kobo (on my free book hehe) so, I'm thinking about delisting my ebooks on D2D. Tyvm for this insightful vid and may you sell tons of books.

      That's great! I hope it all works out for you, and you are very welcome. That's the hardest part about marketing...the results can vary wildly from one author to another. It all comes down to finding what works best for you. Good luck, and I hope your books do exceptionally well. :)

    Hi. Thank you a lot for this review!!!. Your was VERY helpful for me. I didn't know about this app. I was trying differents programs because I don't found "the one" for everything. Specially the research aspect (I do a lot and always it become a mess at the end). This aspect is well covered in Scrivener but I really hate the interface, it is also well covered in livingwriter, which is web based and just by suscription, around 10 usd/month (even 120 usd/year aprox is not so expensive I think, but something is wrong for me when you are unable to work in your writing lifetime, also I prefer to have both options, a web base and desk app). But is is really modern and have beautiful interface and it is very good for me. I didn''t try Atticus yet, but I watched some review, I think yours too, and I don't like be unable to try it without to purchase, even with the 30 days guarantee). Ahh another wonderful thing about Reedsy it is they have human chat, 24/7, free and even in more than just in English! It is vey awesome in these days. Well, thank you again.
