A Physio taught me a very simple exercise to correct the bent toe. It absolutely fixed my emerging bunion. You just flex the big toe SIDEWAYS ( out towards the other foot) repeatedly. I bet you can not do it initially, I had to move it with my hand until the brain remembered how to use that muscle. I do it for a few minutes every now and then in front of the TV, it strengthens the muscle that holds the toe straight. 🇦🇺 I wish I could attach a photo of my now nice straight big toes with no bunions.

The likelihood of more than one problem with your foot is great and you may be in the process of developing other problems like I found out, after finally getting to see my podiatrist. So Google offers suggestions which I love. And my new Podiatrist was GREAT! Instantly hit it off. Many doctors are offended if you come in and know what your foot problem could be. My doc was very glad I was thinking and taking all the right vitamins and wanting to be able to continue walking.
I came in wearing Hoka Athletic shoes and everyone was wowed that I had made the right choice! I looked up who sold the kind of shoes for my 2nd Metatarsal Capsulitis problem. I came with my x-rays and he was thrilled as I made them zoomable on my iPad. He even noticed I had had a healed fractured of 5th metatarsal from when I was a teenager! He was able to tell me why I was having pain and that my big toe was part of the problem and what to do about it. It isn’t a bunion, thank goodness.
He’s trying to be a vegan. I’ve been eating this way for 10+ years so he was glad to hear my reasons for going vegan and glad to see a 71 year old lady who is at goal weight. The skin on my feet are also very healthy, and overall my health is excellent.
Becoming vegan got me out of a wheelchair with gouty arthritis and being able to walk to me is a precious thing. I‘ve lost 80 lbs. from when I started.
The number one person who can take the best care of our health is the patient themselves. Those who come in having learned about their foot can also understand which bones the doctor is talking about. But that is true of all parts of our health. If we eat the diet human beings were meant to eat, we have the best chance at staying healthy, even into our senior years.
I love learning about how to heal and how to stay well. I was already taking the right supplements, pain killers and meds. The rest I do with my diet.
I am on the road to putting my pain behind me. Feel good enough to take me and my new shoes on a walk! Went out and walked 1-1/2 today. Each day now add a few more blocks until I can walk the miles I like walking.

I don’t know if this is a bunion or not, but I have a huge callus on the outside of each of my big toes and no matter what I do, it always comes back. Filing doesn’t work. Soaking doesn’t work. Stretching my toes won’t do any good because this is on the outside of each of my big toes and I don’t know what to do to permanently get rid of it.

Truth Be Told, we really hope that you feel better and thanks for watching our video!
In general, treatment of bunionettes is almost always non-surgical. The most basic are changing shoes, especially to shoes that are wider at the toes or wearing sandals. Wider shoes can alleviate the discomfort of bunionnettes. Pads are also available to ease the pain.
We're sorry to hear about your problem and we really hope you feel better soon! Just remember to see your podiatrist in person if you are not feeling better in the future!

What would cause this in children accustomed to wearing good shoes unless its sometimes genetically unavoidable. And i know surgery is not so recommended bec doesnt always work and doesn't last.....but these bunions arent from history if bad shoes and aging of the foot. Could you address the concept of the barefoot shoe? They constantly talk about how this strengthens the muscles of the feet and allows the toes to splay. But over pronation would lead to this exact issue. Also do you think glute med weakness contributes here?

Absolutely, I will have a video out soon regarding the topic. Barefoot shoes can be really good if you are already healthy, or if you have joint, knee or hip issues. But with people with already flat feet, painful feet, or people who want faster athletic performance they are not the ideal shoe. I share more in depth soon!

Ok if I am going to a really classy meeting or whatever maybe change but for casual daily life, the periodic discomfort is way worth it compared to the prolonged destruction of bones and cartilage textures.

Was also taking vit K2 for the calcium buildup in my shoulder and it turned out it took the calcium out of my toe as well. Learning to walk correctly and using k2 to get rid of the calcium in the area allowed it to dissolve and within a couple of weeks I felt my boot was big in the area where the bunion had been. The tendon on top of the great toe on my right foot doesn't raise up like on my left foot when I flex my toe up. It seems like it's fusing into the bone. But the more I move it with my hand the more mobility I get. The pain ebbs and flows, nothing seems to give it actual pain relief. Sometimes I just want to smash it with a hammer,I'm sure that's not a great idea. I don't wear tight shoes ,I very great support ,toes fit comfortably. Any thoughts?

Having scoured the scientific literature for 30+ years, I wait, with bated breath, on the arrival of the first scientific paper to confirm that a bunion prone foot with/without inserts and stuff stuck on the toes can reverse a bunion deformity. I had hoped, at least, for the citations and references to appear in the description box. I will love to see long term audits of bunion patients, with radiographic evidence. And, pray tell, how would that person squeezing their feet into tight, high heel with pointed toe box accommodate the gel spacers.....🥳🤯

And, for the sake of completeness, the failure of an orthotic to manage bunion deformity was elegantly shown in a landmark PhD study of juvenile bunions and foot orthotics. The outcome: orthoses worsened the progress of deformity (a little). There are researchers from countries other than US who can pursue such work unburdened by the 'business' model of medicine found in the US.
